  1. my experience with lvc and i've had over 20 pairs of various models is this: as long as you're in the ballpark raw you can get them to fit depending on how you handle them. i've got several methods depending on how they fit to begin with and they eventually fit correctly after i get the shrinkage out. the one thing i cannot work with is if they're too big in the waist. i've never had any shrink more than about an inch and i have ruined pairs boiling them trying to shrink them down and had others that would fit ok after a hot wash/soak and then slip off my hips once they stretched out and proved unworkable. now i sell right away if they seem big in the waist. i recently bought a pair of 646's on a lark, they were size 38 waist and measured 40! inexcusable in a sanforized jean. i sold them for a loss and never tried to wash them as i learned by bitter experience you can't fix too big.

I could not agree more. Had my share of frustration managing LVC waist sizing before.

  2. Too bad ATL doesn't have any kind of a variety of good denim, not just the standard fare like Barneys Co-Op. Barneys is fine, but Georgia has a history of famous textile mills that once produced cotton like the big boys in North Carolina. Now cool operations like Raleigh Denim and Imogene/Willie are the style. Hoping once the economy comes back that businesses take a chance on ATL's spending potential!

  3. Hey thanks for your comments on my McCoys, they're pretty special to me. I've got several pairs of jeans that I constantly wore and put in the "vault." I'll post some pics, starting with these Lee repros that I've had for years and wore everywhere for 2 years or so. By everywhere, I mean hiking, biking, working, walking, flying, North America, South America, you get the idea-

  5. Quick update on Raleigh Denim, I got a very nice email from Sarah Lytvinenko (co-founder) saying they're launching an online store in Jan/Feb. Also mentioned that anytime anyone is in the Raleigh, NC area to drop by their place.

I just received my pair of Raleigh jeans. Very nice hand made look and feel. Going to start wearing them today.

  6. Raleigh Denim is a great story! Very small operation in Raleigh, North Carolina (husband/wife/14 employees). Everything made by hand with Cone Mills denim. Sold mostly in Barneys and small boutiques. I've asked them if you can buy directly. Will post back with an answer. Here are two links to check out their story:

Hi folks, I've been collecting since 2006. Japanese, USA, vintage Levis, Lee, Wrangler. All total over 60 pairs, probably about every label you can name. I need denim therapy. Here are about as many as I could cram into a photo-
