This is the Seafarers Bridge
across it is the Mission to Seafarers, it is an international organization which cares for the practical and spiritual welfare of seafarers of all nationalities and faiths. The Melbourne Mission, created in 1905, is a volunteer-managed facility providing a home away from home for approximately 12,000 seafarers visiting the Port of Melbourne annually.
This statue is inspired by Bunjil, the eaglehawk regarded as a spirit creator by the Kulin nations, which include the Wurundjeri people, this imposing 25-metre statue, which gazes over the passing traffic of Flinders Street was crafted from jarrah and aluminum, with glass for eyes, was created by Melbourne sculptor Bruce Armstrong.

in front of it, is Polly Woodside, launched in 1885 in Belfast, Ireland by Workman Clark & Co Ltd, one of the largest of the British shipbuilders. The owner was William Woodside, a Belfast ship owner, and the ship was given his wife Marian’s nickname, Polly. The Polly Woodside is a three-masted iron barque. The hull is of riveted wrought iron.

This is the new Melbourne Convention Centre, made up of convention and meeting spaces and a huge exhibition hall, it is the first and only ‘6 Star Green Star’ convention centre in the world and is a technological marvel designed with the environment in mind using fresh air, natural light and solar power. The entry-level foyer has an 18-metre-high glass wall façade overlooking the Yarra River.

so i got back my internet today and here comes the other half of Sunday..as mentioned before, i went to Queen Vic Market later that day to buy some incense for the house. Queen Victoria Market is def. a must for tourists as you can basically get everything tourist related items and gifts.
The Queen Victoria Market is famous as the largest and oldest market in the Southern Hemisphere. Opened in 1878, its historic buildings are a natural heritage site and many of the shops from which the traders operate today, are unchanged from days gone by.
The Dairy Hall is perhaps the best known with its distinctive shop fronts and its multicultural offerings in the 38 delicatessens that lie within its walls.
mmm..nice homemade jams
