  1. It seems like a lot of people are having trouble finding Robert Geller this season. Gravitypope has a decent selection - I just picked up the knickers-like dress pants (the short ones) there. Quite a bit of outerwear, too. Not all of it is on their website, though, so it might be best to call or e-mail.

  2. I'm digging on the Wings + Horns collaboration training sweatshirt thingy... anyone dare know the cost?

Retails should be around $200 to $250. They're basically fleece versions of the NDG knit sweaters from Fall 08.

  3. anyone know what these jackets are called? and if they are available anywhere?

    thanks guys!

Not sure what the top one is, but I think the bottom one is the Arctic Bomber. gravitypope in Canada has them. Maybe they still have them?

  4. thanks for your help, RDK!

so it's already out! now I must find the beige color. don't mind the $, just need it in my life!

did you check what material was used? how did it feel?

I tried it on, actually. It's 50 cotton/50 acrylic, and it's quite heavy. But it's not hot because the knit is really open. Didn't suit me, though. My shoulders are too broad.

  5. you guys are all worried about price points, but I found almost all of last seasons shit during the sales at barneys and what not and i'm sure this season (especially) will not be any different. I found the rafxfp pants for $130 at barneys...

This is precisely why collaborations are difficult. If you're finding it all on sale, then it's not selling for retailers. As that happens, you'll see less and less of the collaboration product actually make it to the stores. That's why collabs are almost more of a marketing tool than product to actually sell.

  6. Could it be this stuff?

Saw it when i was browsing around the other day and thought it was odd. Never heard of it before.

This is X-Sons, which was a diffusion like of Obedient Sons. It was a bit more casual and a lower pricepoint. The last season of X-Sons was Spring 08.

This is the new collection they've done, called Hutson:

  7. There was an article in the times a week or two back about how Obedient Sons & Daughters have lost a lot of their sponsors.. possibly downsizing of the output or even fold?

Yes, they've folded. There will be no Spring 09 pieces in stores. The designers are starting a new collection to launch for Fall 09, I believe. I've heard it's quite a departure from what Obedient Sons was.

  8. The styling is a bit off the mark, I'd have to say, this time. And some of the pieces are a bit costume-y, but I'd expect that the stores will generally buy the more classic pieces. R&B does have excellent construction and fabrics.

  9. I have to admit I've never had quality issues with my Geller pieces. Cloak, yes. Geller thus far everything has stood up 100% and looks nearly exactly like it did the day I bought it.

I have to second that. I've never had any quality problems. Excellent construction, great fabrics. Geller, for a relatively new designer, is much better at choosing the right fabrics for the design than most new designers. Also, I find the pricepoint for Geller much more justifiable than many other collections.

  10. i love this, but last seasons stuff was really expensive compared to regular fp.

That's the whole problem with collaborations. Cool, but usually not worth 4 times the price. I think they're really more of a marketing and image tool than sellable fashion.

  11. hi guys

im looking for some nice jewellery -

i love the quirkiness of margiela's jewllery but i cant seem to find anything else,.

    anyone got any recommendations??

    thanks

If you like quirky, you could check Miss Bibi. They sell it at gravitypope. It's mostly miniatures.

If that's too kitschy, sells Natalia Brilli does awesome leather-wrapped pieces.

Arielle de Pinto is another good line you could check, with knit metal pieces.

    Hope that helps!

  12. thanks for the replies. im going for the same fit that geller has in his fit pic. if only i didnt go away for school this would be soo much easier. anyone know where in the states there is a 46? just in case i have to return the 48 im going to get.

btw you want to sell your diner jacket?

I don't know. I'm pretty attached to it. They'[ve done a jacket that's the same shape this season called the Blouson Blazer.

  13. hey RDK could i get your measurements please? im thinking we wear the same size but i just want to be sure before i order this jacket.

Hey, Shortypop. My chest measures 39", waist 29". I measured the chest on my Tank jacket from this season as well, and it's 20.25" pit-to-pit, and it's a 48. I could almost wear a 50 in the Tank jacket if I have a sweater on, but then it's too big everywhere else. In the Geller shirts, and most other brands I wear 46 (46 in Acne & Filippa K, 38 in Rag & Bone).

  14. You would need a 46 for a slim fit.

I'm not sure you'd need the 46. I tried this coat on at GPTG, and the 48 fit. I wear 46 in the shirts and knits in Geller, but 48 in the jackets and coats. I have the Fall 07 Diner Jacket, the hooded raincoat from Spring 08 and the Tank jacket from Fall 08, all in 48. The tailored pieces seem to fit smaller. Plus, the M65 is quite fitted. That said, I guess you just have to try it to be sure.

  15. No, the peasant status khaki version without the leather is the poor man's version of the leather/moleskin one.

I think the khaki version without leather is called the Flight Jacket. For the poor man who can still afford $800.

  16. that sounds a bit overpriced, the all leather jackets are only like 1500 and the arctic bomber only has leather details on the shoulder and sleeves

I don't think the coat is overpriced. Generally, gravitypope is in line with other Robert Geller stockists. They have the Marcello frames for $225, Blackbird is $220. Washed s/s Henley is $160 at both retailers. So, it doesn't look like they over-price product. I guess it's just really expensive, which is maybe why not very many stores are stocking it. It really is stunning in the moleskin/leather version. Very soft, and it's got leather strap details around the cuffs and under the collar. Also, someone earlier posted about if it would be warm. It did feel slightly insulated. It wouldn't get you through a winter here in Edmonton, but on either the east or west coasts, I think it would be fine.

  17. Gravitypope (Edmonton) called today to let me know they got new pieces. They have the Arctic Bomber. If only there was room on my credit card. Alas. :(

They also got the Toggle Parka, Flight Jacket, and Field Jacket. I'm thinking of picking up the Flight Jacket, which is the same jacket, just not in leather and with with different details (and way cheaper).
