  1. what I meant was...

maybe he carries a cellphone around and for convenience's sake, just kept it in his front pocket. What would definitely be contrived would be something like people trying to get fades from snapple caps in their pockets and the like

who the fuck needs to carry a snapple cap around

  2. hey, im looking into some APC Petit Standards. My waist is 32. do you think a 31 in petit will still fit like a Levi 511 after they fully stretched or will they stretch to be too loose? ive seen some fits that were sized down two that looked fine and some that looked a little tight for my likings. also my thighs are a little big for a guy if that matters.

Trei, I think if you've ever had to describe your thighs as "big" or "athletic" then the petit standards might not be the cut for you. I'd suggest at least going to a store to try them on yourself before making a purchase.

  3. I know I should probably have a flame suit on because Esef seems to be a dirty word in these parts, but I'm really just looking around for some cheap heavy denim I can wear when it's cold and kick around in. Ori or Sky is alright, preferably in like new condition with under a month's wear. PM me pics and measurements and we'll talk.

  4. I don't think sot: Although both are quoted I believe to be ~14 oz, No.1 denim seems sturdier and heavier (after shrinkage) based on my experience. But who knows, maybe I'm just fell into the hype.

I can't speak much about the No.2 denim as I've never handled any well worn examples, but I have a 2000 #1 evisu and the quality is amazing. When I first got them and before the soak, they were almost...boring. Nothing about the denim really stood out, but after a soak they got super fuzzy and they keep getting more character. But compared to my friend's--who has been wearing his for over a year at least, mine look totally different. His have more character nuances...So it seems like they just get better with time?

I was not wowed at first glance, but with the 2000 #1 I've grown to appreciate the quality of the denim and the timeless cut over time....so at this my point they're my go to jeans.

Also save up--granted they're more expensive, but if you're already dropping 250-300 for a pair of evis, how much more is 50-80? The dollar to yen sucks right now though, so might want to wait...

The main thing here at work is that denim weighs differently pre- and post- soak... surprise! when you have two jeans exactly the same size cut from 14 oz denim, with the difference being one sanforized and one unsanforized, obviously the unsanforized jean is going to shrink when you hot soak it. But it doesn't lose denim in the soak, no no! the denim just compresses so it takes up a smaller space. So by volume the unsanforized jean is going to weigh more after a soak.

  5. Valid points. I think the idea is coming from the pictures of the 86 boot which is also the vintage-style Alden we are recreating (except in shell cordovan instead of the original kid-skin) which had a pull-tab.

Here is a pic (which I think was posted earlier in this thread) of an old 1930s catalog (I think montgomery wards) which has perf. straight tip workboots in it. Also no pull-tabs.

My vote would be for no pull tabs.

jesus. everything on that page is solid fucking gold

  6. there were some stronghold jeans in size 38 at the recent bluebee.com sale... was so mad they didn't have them in my size!

Bill, is there any website you have where we can see pics of the different cuts/varieties of stronghold jeans? I think a gallery would help a lot of people make such a purchase.
