  1. shit i don't know. it's a fucking great slim fit almost in a class of it's own. tight in the thigh, but not too tight; loose in the calf, but not baggy; low-ish rise, but not sagging. i dunno.

Cheers, sounds pretty good and I'll wait for the fotos.

  2. Yeah the Museums were the only thing that kept me sane while visiting. Somebody fill this thread up with cool night spots... so I don't have to go to some crappy sports bar next time I'm down.

There aren't any cool nightspots in Houston.

  3. Except all the Panerais for sale today are made in Switzerland with ETA movements and have been ever since Richemont (aka Swatch) bought them a few years ago. All they share with the original Italian Navy watches is the name.

As for B&R, for the money they charge, I'd expect them to be better made - they don't even bother to align the fucking screws on the case - there's only 4 of them and they're huge, so there's no excuse for having them all pointing in different directions.

    Sounds about right.

  4. If you know anything about watchese you know that Panerai is prompt up by fan boys. As a Panerai owner I cannot understand how people are willing to part with 4k to buy a fucking decorated Swiss Eta 6497. 000. 005, 111, 112, 113, 114, 115, 203, 210, 217, do you want me to continue? Half of their catalog is based off one of the simplest movements, albeit reliable, but definitely what they are asking for. Oh, and their auto movements are mostly Swiss Eta 2436, 2892, or Valjoux 7750 with Chrono disabled. It took them about 60 years to come up with a in-house movement, and from all accounts it is not all that reliable.

Argue history, argue hype, argue the unique crown guard, or maybe the community of the Paneristi site, but its apples and oranges when you compare a Panerai to anything else in it's price range.

My 112 is purely trade bait (maybe the new B&R Phantom 03-92, if I had bigger wrist Dunkin that monster would have been mine).

    Agree to disagree.

  5. Four days with the GT-R did reveal a few irritants, but none are difficult fixes. The steering ratio is about perfect, but we frequently found ourselves (mid-corner!) removing a hand to find the transmission paddle to grab the next gear. The shift paddles need to be yanked off the tree and affixed to the wheel (like Ferrari does it) and the exhaust note could use some serious attention. Countless onlookers asked us to "rev the engine" as they eagerly anticipated a noise that would send chills up their spine. Their hopes were shattered as the bright red GT-R could only whimper like an asthmatic Maxima.

On day four, when Nissan arrived to recover their GT-R, we had mixed emotions. Part of us would miss the celebrity-like allure that drew crowds each time we ventured out of the driveway (the next time Britney Spears wants to drive unnoticed down Pacific Coast Highway, she only needs to hire a red GT-R to run in the next lane), the other half looked forward to welcoming back our real-life anonymity.

Nissan engineers have successfully delivered a nauseatingly fast vehicle that devours acceleration and track records. Its handling belies its weight, and its cabin is deceptively comfortable. Yet, however absurdly amazing the Nissan was, we found ourselves continuously looking for its soul. We wanted to find a bad habit, an ill mannerism, a vulnerability that would prove the car was mortal. Instead, we were met with methodical and highly accurate electronic systems that double-checked our every move to deliver exactly what our human inputs were requesting. Curiously, each time the push-button starter would fire the engine, the incessant feedback the GT-R offered to us was robot-like mechanized perfection.
