  1. My EDC knife challenge has begun. Spyderco Dragonfly Foliage Green G10 vs. Boker Exskelibur II. They're both really nice and compact.

The fit and finish on the Dragonfly is incredible. Boker is nice too ... it's a great design. But the tolerances on the Dragonfly are so tight and the small but ergonomic setup is so good it's gonna be hard to beat.

I have no tactical need for a knife. Just looking for a small blade that is always on me/in my bag. I have carried a Buck Nobelman Ti for 2 years or so and these are both better.

Now I must stop jonesing for a Small Sebenza before I get divorced.

  2. I don't know though if that would happen if you sized down two (if you're looking at the 660).

I sized down 2 on one wash 800's. Sz 34 arrived at 34.5" in the waist, and quickly stretched to 36". Juts gave them first wash at 3 months of wear; they shrunk back to 34.5" and quickly stretched back to 36 again.

  3. Boston's municipal regs. ban all blades > 2.5". So who can recommend me a nice, sub 2.5" bladed, one hand opening folder? Currently have a Buck Nobleman Ti that my wife put in my Xmas stocking a couple years ago. It's decent, but not that nice.

I'm thinking a Spyderco Dragonfly with G10 scales. Anything else I should consider? Leafstorm would work but kinda pricey...

  4. Searched the 1500+ pages, but there's nothing on socks and White's boots.

When sizing White's, what kind of socks do people account for? I'm an 8.5D in Barrie last in dress socks, great fit in in 9D Plaza last in dress socks too. For boots I usually wear thick (ragg wool) socks, and probably would in White's too. I'm thinking means 9E in White's Smokejumper/Farmer Rancher last but wonder if there's any input on how socks affect the fit?

  5. This thread is pure evil. I've gone from "hey there's a lot of people out there who carry as much junk as me on a daily basis" to "holy sh!t I just dropped a hundred bucks on flashlights at goinggear because my MiniMag is lame" in 48 hrs . . .

I've carried a small graph paper moleskin for a while -- there is so much random garbage in there but it's still essential for jotting down that thought before you forget what it was.

  6. for anyone who has the 800 or similar denim.. how much stretch am i likely to get?

i would be getting the one wash in the correct size and didnt want too much expansion.

    thanks

My sz. 34 one wash 800's arrived at 34.5" and have stretched to 36" -- I am true 36" waist and they are comfortable but fitted in the top block. Always have had plenty of room in the legs, which definitely stretched as well though I haven't measured. They were toight in the waist to start though for sure.

So, can you size down two from tagged? Sure. Sized down one might be perfect, though. And you could easily get away with true to size if you ask me, though they'd prolly be a little loose eventually.

  7. I think the Blundstone 059 and 063 lasts run slightly narrower than the 500 last -- but it is true that Blunnies' half sizes increase in width only. (other Aus boot makers, e.g., R.M Williams, increase in width and length by half sizes (at least according to RMW)). The narrower width is probably a function of the chisel toe box; the 500's, by comparison - have reallly wide toe boxes, especially in the .5 sizes.

  8. My one wash 800's (size 34) measured .5" smaller than listed (35") at BiG's website -- they were 34.5". They have now stretched to 36" after about 10 wears -- 36" is my true waist and where I aiming to get them to. Easily could have gone for 36" in the one wash as well - these are pretty trim through the top block for me thought there's plenty of room in the legs.

  9. My 800's have a little white size/lot tag that is sewn into the leather patch and hangs below it. Leave it on or cut it off? It's kind of a funky little detail and will probably curl up and fall off of it's own accord, but I wondered if it was a quirk meant to be left alone???

  10. after reviewing my list of wants and needs -- my wife got me some Warehouse 800's in OW from BiG for my birthday. Denim is beautiful . . . kinda hairy yet not crazily so.

I'm 6' 182 lbs and a true 36". I went with 34" one wash. measures out to about 34.5"-34.75" in the waist, 11.5" in front rise and 15" in back rise, 8.5"-8.75" leg opening. Can't measure inseam b/c no tape measure (just an 18" ruler) but easy fit for my 32" inseam with a single cuff. A little snug now in the waist (but perfect everywhere else) but seem like they will stretch easily. Gordon predicts 2" of stretch in this denim so hope it'lll be perfect at the end of the day.

My only worry is that I don't blow a button hole stretching them out. That looks like a potential weak point in the overall build (button holes are not reinforced at all). Surely by design. Or I finally get skinnier.

Given that I pissed all over my New Standards last weekend in a drunken frenzy it's probably time to start anew anyway . . .

  11. three would be way too much

Gordon's take was tagged 32 (down four from tagged for me) would shrink after hot wash/dry to 34" in the waist and then stretch back to 36" with some effort. Consensus here seems to be down 1 or 2 at most from tagged waist. I am confused.

Guess I better go to NYC.

  12. I'm a true 36" (6' 182 lbs) and Gordon recommended 32" -- I think I'll go 33" in the 660 (admittedly against Gordon's recco) unless I go 34" in the one wash 800 ... leaning towards 660 though.

Consensus from the 660 contest thread seems to be down two from stated waist for "normal" fit, down three for "sufu" fit. I sized down two on my first raw (APC NS 34) and they are WAY too loose in the waist . . . (boring APC waist/vanity size/noob and stretch = yawn).

  13. Warehouse Dubbleworks 660 from BiG: size down 3 or 4 from true waist? trying to decide between sz 32 and 33.

    32 is 36" raw, 33 is 37" raw. Expecting 2" shrinkage after hot soak/dry.

I am a true 36" waist trending down a little. So i guess the question is: will I get 2" of stretching out of these after hot soak/dry?

I should be a 33 in APC NS, though I'm wearing 34 that are too loose now.
