  1. mrs the_ming has a pair of women's somet jeans, they are more forgiving in the thighs than PBJ, and are also not selvedge, but really, that's nothing to be too concerned about, as not all great denim is selvedge and not all selvedge is great denim. both somet and PBJ produce jeans with *great* denim.

the nicest women's jeans we have found, though are by dry bones, called mubec. they have both straight leg and tapered jeans, the denim is amazing, is selvedge and the quality is out of this world.

she also just got some jeans from uniqlo and they are very very nice for the price. good cuts, large variety of sizing and reasonably priced.

the pbjs that most ladies on this board have been picking up (including me) have a great cut, but honestly i wasn't in love with the denim. certainly doesn't hold a candle to the denim on their men's jeans. all of this is just my opinion, of course.

thanks for the heads up on the dbs, always good to have some new info in here (serious), but from looking at the pics, i'm gonna go with kiya's take on this...

    yes on uniqlo.

ps sup moa. moar darts plz

  2. my best friend, who is a girl, is looking for a pair of nice raw selvage skinny jeans.

    any recommendations?

the women's pbjs are not selvage (i believe).

somets don't get much attention on this board, makes me a lil hesitant about them myself, but these measurements look nice. not a ton of skinny denim with a selvage id out there, really. if anyone has a pair, post em please?

  3. So they only have the sling and stones there?

If you're asking about jeans for women....I think those, the Nudie Slim Kim, and the Flat Head Balders are the female-specific cuts they have right now. Also some slim-leg stuff that is basically unisex. And I hear there's a ladies' cut from 3sixteen+ coming out in October

  4. hey Mike, i'm no expert, but for what it's worth, here's my take:

no ladies' stuff is coming to mind (i suspect that sling and stones, balders, geishas, ladies' pbj, and somets all will probably be cut too slim, although there could be stuff i'm not thinking of / i could be remembering those measurements wrong), but your fiancee may do well with a men's cut.

this has been said plenty before, but i'd recommend measuring a pair of jeans that she feels good in, and then checking those waist, rise, and thigh measurements against some men's stuff. i've seen men's flat head (3001?), pbj (tvshooter's lovely lady has 005s i think), and iron heart all work on girls. ih even has a boot cut i think (461 maybe), if that is your lady's thing.

since you included some measurements in your post, this approach probably isn't news to you, but i guess my point is that if you take precise measurements from something she already likes, you can feel confident about comparing to size charts. and don't fear men's cuts. she doesn't need to know.

(sorry for this long response, it's a really slow night....)

  5. beatle, if you end up needing to go down to the 38, i think mine may have your name on it. unless somehow the shoulders/arms settle in some flattering way when it stops being quite so stiff....but i think i'm kidding myself there.

or if someone has a 36 and wants to trade, hit me up

  6. to everyone who is "shitting up" this thread--

i won't speak to whether this is an important discussion or not - i think points have been made on both sides - and sure, sufu is an appropriate place to debate it, but this thread is about "updates & info" regarding Self Edge.

if you really want to debate this, you absolutely have every right to, but i think insisting on doing it in this particular thread rather than one devoted to the actual topic at hand is questionable. it's just upsetting people, and even though there's an argument to be made that it's relevant to Self Edge, you're compromising the quality of your own discussion by antagonizing people needlessly (and i say that to people on both sides).

i honestly hope i'm not bothering anyone by saying all this, but i do think maybe it would be better all around if this could go somewhere else, for the sake of the topic if nothing else

  7. I don't have any other denim jackets, but I've got a FH flannel size 36 that I can't really button. So I got a size 38 in the jacket. The thing is, I am a girl and I have.....um, how to say this.....a chest situation?.....that means I have to size up for the chest but then the shoulders are always too big. I know these are supposed to fit tight but I guess I was wishfully thinking it would all work out.....

Also I am in the same boat as you, Moms has my jacket and I won't have my hands on it for a bit either. She sent me pictures of my sister wearing it but she's freakishly thin so it's not really informative.

So I am debating exchanging it for a size down and just giving up on buttoning....or wearing it with a hoody or something underneath?

  8. would some one with a kind, smooth soul please advise on

those lovely pbj ladypants. are you gals getting your regular waist size?

1 down? b's up??? what now

I was between sizes so I ended up sizing down about one and a half (if that makes sense?), which was about half a size too far. But they did stretch a fair amount. I'd say one size down is doable (with an initial struggle) but not strictly necessary.

Neptune is right, you basically cannot have much of an ass or thighs, but I think that is less a sizing issue than just the nature of the cut.

  9. someone correct me if I'm wrong, but dont you think the honeycombs and front whiskers look a bit low? look like they were from someone taller

    nice fades though

I think he bought that pair used??
hey grouse - not all the honeycombs are produced by me - this pair of denime when i found it at a flea market it was pretty awesome already.

Good observation, and yes, he said he bought them used. Sorry that this post is not that necessary, I am just bored.
