  1. I need something to hold my iphone around my waist. It doesn't really need to be an iphone holder but something small that I can snuggly stash the phone into. I saw something from taps that would do the trick. Does visvim have anything to offer?

I know they had some small leather waist pouches last season. You might be able to get one from F.I.L. or if someone helps you out ...

which reminds me, can anyone help me get one of the new visvim catalogs? I'm located in the U.S.

  2. don't get me wrong, i know this. i think what i meant was if i walked in a store w/ $500 to spend on visvim, id rather buy a shoes than a flannel. i bought the new fbt shamans and some logan lo's the same day, but passed on the flannels and the new outerwear. i feel like visvim shoes are incomparable to other brands, so it justifies the price for me...

c.r.e.a.m. I know what you mean. It's different with the shoes, where the comfort and quality helps you understand why you payed so much. As far as the clothes goes, I recommend purchasing the Giza or West Indian cotton stuff, and also the fluxus denim and chinos. With these and the goretex outerwear, you'll really get to feel Visvim's quality.

  3. I have two pairs of chinos (although I didn't pay full price for either). I really like them. The cut is good, unaltered length is perfect for me, etc., etc. One pair has a hidden keychain in the pocket, which is a cool little addition. Ralph Lauren doesn't even compare. Visvim blows it away. Try to pick up the giza chinos if you can find them for a reasonable price.

    Cool. Thanks for the info.

  4. I've always liked Visvim's chinos, but I could never convince my self to buy them. Does anyone own any and if so, do you feel the price is justified by the quality? Or are they not much different than some classic Ralph Lauren pants?

  5. jsn, thanks for the pics. And you're right about me being happy with those new hockneys. It's good to see the folk series again, I think it's the best example of what visvim is all about. I'm also interested in seeing how some of the new materials will compare.

  6. anyone know how much the Visvim Mayan Pocket tees were on sale at Union?

I don't believe the Mayan t-shirt was part of the sale at Union. I saw the navy blue one with the Mayan detial on the sides, but I believe it was selling for retail. Most of the Visvim stuff on sale was past season.

  7. c.r.e.a.m, the shoes that were on sale were the Visvim x Neighborhood collabs, logan deck lo, and I believe the sandals.

stadsvandringar, they didn't have a specific percent off sale if that's what you're asking. There were just several different items marked down, so the prices varied. The sale was in the upper section of the store and the items were for the most part past season. Still a lot of good stuff though.

  8. I went to Union L.A. this weekend. They had a decent selection of Visvim shoes, clothes and bags. A lot of stuff on sale too. Here's a list of what I saw:

Shoes: FBT Jokhang in brown and sand, Keifer Hi Patala in white/green, black/blue, brown/yellow, Kiefer Hi Mayan in black, white and navy, Logan deck lo and Logan lo canvas, the lama sandal, a couple of the neighborhood collabs in black and some past season models.

Clothes: most of the S/S 08 button ups like the Welded, Shigatse and Mayan, beautiful lug and Mayan tees, seersucker Giza shorts, pants and jackets, a lot of goretex jackets, a lot of pants and fluxus denim, past season tees and shirts on sale.

Bags/other: white, black, olive ballistic e- cat, 20, 25 and possibly a 55 (most of the bags were hung high on the wall, so I couldn't really tell), veggie pen case and bi-fold wallet, subsection candles and room spray.

That's all the Visvim stuff I remember, but I'm sure there's a few things I missed.

Off the topic, they also had some Neighborhood, WTAPS, OriginalFake and Nike SB (even that crazy "Buzz Lightyear" bag).

  9. well, as visvim leather is "natural un-treated", all the leather has its own unique traits, thus leather grain/ quality differs each pair.. yes?

That is true for many Visvim models. I'm not sure if that's the case with this pair though. It could be a production issue as someone mentioned earlier. After a few good wears, I don't think you'll really be able to tell the difference anyway.

  10. Here they are. I am eager to find out if they released these in the light brown color.

These were released in light brown as part of the S/S 08 folk series. I was able to get a pair, and they're currently my favorite shoes. The folk series in incredibly comfortable.

  11. I know I've arrived to the show very late, but I'm looking for a decent backpack and I think the Ballistic 20 might qualify. I don't really know much about the brand (the shoes don't do it for me at all) but the bags seem to look well made and subtle, and who better to ask than this thread.

I'm very hard on bags - I bought a Stussy/Turntable Labs pack before christmas and it's already falling apart. On the other hand, my old Boblbee was bought in 2000 and despite a new shell is still holding up well, so I'm looking for something with that kind of build quality etc.

Is Visvim's shit that together? Will a Ballistic 20 have enough room for a macbook, a couple of large wallets for cables etc, plus room for a sweater? How about that plus whatever you'd need on a plane? Would the 25 be better?

Finally, is it still possible to buy one, or do I have to wait for A/W now?

I've had my ballistic 20 for almost 2 years and it's still holding up really well. I think you would be able to fit all of your needs in the 20, but if you're carrying a lot on the plane then a 25 might be better. I do, to a certain extent agree with others here in that many of the products are overpriced, maybe even some backpacks. But it's not much different than with other high end brands, and there's many people (including me) that really enjoy Visvim products. I'm happy with mine and if you're thinking about getting one, there's websites that are still selling them for average prices.

  12. the annoying part is that hiroki keeps talking this shit about 'just wanting to make good products and hating marketing gimmicks... blah blah blah'

but his entire business model is built on making limited quantities and selling it largely to resellers and hypebeasts. its built off the hype of being associated with HF. not that they're not good products, but that jap must be kidding himself trying to sell made in china sneakers for 3 bills and tell us that its not about the marketing.

Hiroki/Visvim do talk a lot about making good products, but I haven't heard too much about "hating marketing." At the end of the day, Visvim is still a business and marketing is necessary. The difference is others have good marketing and bad product, Visvim has good marketing and good products. Still, if you want high quality, you're going to have to pay.
