  1. i just ordered a pair today in sz 34. I sized up 2 sizes as says. hope that I got the right size instead of 33.

i'm not sure what the self edge staff recommends, but i would recommend (assuming they aren't tight or too snug) to give them a warm soak when you get them. that way the fading will start off right and there will be less shrinkage later.

  2. much like newton and einstein's theories of speed and point of reference, in order to state what you're "sizing down" you need a reference. it tends to be a tradition of denim enthusiasts to post what their true waist is in order to have this (i.e., their true waist) as their point of reference for sizing down.

all i'm trying to say is that you did not actually size down 3. that's it. a more accurate statement, from what jumbled logic i'm reading, could be stated as: "i normally slouch my jeans to a place below my hips which measures 31.5". i, however, chose to buy a size 28 and this is what it looks like . . ."

i only give a shit becuase your original post is misleading. "I'm really dumbfounded as to how everyone can go true to size and still have slim-ish fits." uh, yeah, that's because your measurements are off.

pretty cool. i like foreign films (it's spanish if you couldn't tell) so i'm partially interested in watching it, and i'm a philosophy nerd so i'd be glad to read up on something other than leibniz/freud (dumbass)/nietzche etc.

    thanks designersheep!

  4. Wow you seriously are living true to your name. Does it mean that what will arrive at your supergay swap partner's place will be more than what I expect? Will I really have under estimated? Because that kinda means you do better than what I have thought.

Will it be both more useless and at the same time less funny than what was sent to Drworm?

how is doctorworm's gift useless? it's a great icebreaker when meeting new chicks.

"hey ladies, wanna see something cool?"

    ahaha.

  5. you're not catching my drift. first of all:

    correct me If I'm wrong,

okay, here's my correcting you so people later on don't make the mistake of sizing down 3 from their actual, real-deal true waist...

your true waist cannot be 31.5". it is impossible. the area below your hips may just measure 31.5", i can believe that. this area, however, is not referred to as your true waist. like i said, true waist = above navel, below ribs. therefore, not to be an asshole but purely for the well being of all prospective imperial denim owners, i judge your "sizing down 3" to be bullshit because of a false true waist given.

now both our posts are about sizing down!

    harrumph.

  6. kino,

bottom line: fit is great if you're going for a loose fit. they look like summer loose jeans... something to wear with slip-ons or something. but, the thing is, you're a chick and dudes want to see some ass. i would recommend keeping those for relaxing and buying a pair of 17.5cm sheers (they're only $285 at eluxury.com) or, if you'd like, getting the entire leg tapered. that'll be a much flattering fit and it'll be more pleasing to both your eyes and the eyes of guys.

ideally, however, you would go back in time and buy a size 28. "they're too small, thunder thighs, etc." you say? well, trust me. a 28 would be the perfect size because they're very slim but not skinny, and they'll fit a 30 inch waist out of the box. not to mention, they'll stretch quite a bit (1.75" on average). even I WEAR A 29 and i have a true true 31 inch waist.

but, do as you please. they may not be perfect, or what we diorheads are used to, but the point is: they're not bad, if anything.

    sincerely,

    -jake

    haha.

  7. anyone have any info/idea on when the stuff is gonna be available online? need to buy the SE05BSP and the loopwheeler tee
    . . .

Whatever stock is left from the party will be put for sale up in the online store the following week.

    . . .

and to all you that partied out, i hope you all had MEGATASTIC FUN. all i got to do today was see my uncle's second wife get plastered (and not on 21st Amendment brews, either) and put her tits in his cake. i'm scarred for life.

to sidney/kiya/everyone else: pictures, please! :)

  8. no, half way down your ass may be 30.5-31", but your true waist is not.

do me a favor: bend over to your side while keeping your abdomen facing forward. see the crease above your navel but below your ribs? remember that spot. now, take a string and wrap it around your abdomen and mark where the string makes a complete circle. i guarantee that it's probably 28-29". that is your true waist. not trying to make you wrong, but it's sorta false confidence to tell others that your true waist is 31 and you can size down 3... when you're actually probably sizing down 1 at most or going true to size.

i'm only debating this because those of you that want a skinny fit and have a true 28-29" waist, a size 28 will do you fine!

  9. just signed up for the thing i suck at most: SAT reasoning test. this time, make or break my college.

mike lowrey is the name of will smith's character in the movie bad boys.

it's hard to try to be minimalist in style/design.

  10. solo, i'm sure some slimmer dudes appreciate your sizing help but i must call you on your "true waist." according to your post, your true waist is about .5" larger than mine. let me just tell you now: i'm not that tall, and i've got a gut. you're ridiculously skinnier than me yet you have a bigger true waist...

so, maybe 31.5" is maybe where you wear your jeans at (i.e., if you slouch or sag) but no way can that be the measurement of your true waist (below the ribs, above the navel).

  11. if we get the discount code can we use it some other day? and if so can we use it for the online order of the new flat head collab?

no. you must send them a photograph of you wearing a flat head piece and you will receive a coupon code good during noon to 6 pm on sunday.

and no, the coupon code does not apply to the new flat head SE05BSP denim, kiryu embroidered chambray long sleeve shirts, or "around the world" loopwheeled tees.

    as stated above...

  12. I don't understand your idea that a non american made guitar is going to fall apart. Epiphones may feel cheap, but they're not going to disintegrate if you take them to a gig. And if you're talking about minutely detailed LPs the ESP custom shop does that better than Gibson. The bookmatching on the Navigators is so accurate you can't even see the seam, and Gibson QC is quite awful outside of the custom shop (the real custom shop, not the one where they make the hollowbodies)

And buying any new guitar with the expectation of in appreciating in value is just ridiculous, unless you're talking special limited edition runs/replicas, and even then its not a very sound investment. Besides, I thought you talking about guitars for serious players, not collectors. Resale value isnt nearly what you make it out to be. You can get a used LP Custom, or even Historics for $2000. Those guitars cost $3000-$4000 new. Warranty is a non issue, every other manufacturer has that, but I will agree that you're paying for the name. Which is very important because everyone knows the letters on the headstock determine how good a guitar sounds

"(several PRSes you say? i say no, if you know what type of PRS to buy)."

What does this mean? Are you saying that only the expensive PRS's are good? You realize that 10 tops and birds contribute absolutely nothing to the quality right? A used Standard 22/24 can do everything a Custom can.

I find this funny, because usually I'm the one trashing epiphones. Again, they feel cheap and for slightly more money you could get an Orville or a Tokai or an Edwards that will blow most Epis out of the water. But I refuse to buy into the "Only a Gibson is good enough" bs

ahahah. i love the inferring that's going on.

first of all i would like to say that out of all the guitars i have played i prefer gibson because of MY EXPERIENCE. to state blandly, i've snapped the neck of an epi before... while playing. that was my last experience with them (i had previously owned 2 guitars from them). i would also like to call you on the quality control out of nashville being bad... have you checked? i've owned an SG standard and a firebird studio and the quality from both was 10/10. no paint flakes, no knots in the wood, etc.

now, i never said someone would want to have his guitar APPRECIATE IN VALUE. that's where you're assuming things. i merely said resale value, as in the resale value of a car. gibson's undoubtedly have one of the best resale values of any guitar makers (notice i said ONE OF THE BEST, there's definitely a few out there that make gem guitars). additionally, much to your surprise, guitars can appreciate in value. try buying a vintage fender/gibson from the 60's/70's. i'm guessing you'd pay just a tadddd more than what they cost in their day. oh, and i am talking about guitars for players not collectors... you brought up the $4000 LPs, remember?

for me warranty is quite an issue because i like dealing with someone who is going to work with me. in my experience, schecter, ltd and plenty of other "like" brands assume you did something wrong with the guitar and that's why there's a "problem." uh, fuck now, the company just produced a guitar that didn't perform.

lastly, um... unless you get a steal, a 9.5/10 standard PRS is worth maybe $1900 or $1800, depending on production date. sooooooo... yeah, semantically you can buy several (i.e., TWO) PRS guitars for the price of an expensive gibson. (and just a note, i've toured the PRS factory in stevensville maryland. the customs, as explained by the tour guide, are quite better than the standards, but the standards are still great. oh, and by "if you know what PRS guitar to get" i was referring to everything but their SE, korean made series which are a shame to the name of PRS, albeit tenfold better than epi's).

once again, i'm not trying to say THIS IS LAW. but in my experience, and though i have not dealt with every company (or even a fourth), i like gibson. they perform, they have the tone i want, they're not assholes, etc.
