  1. Premier Figuier has been attained! For some reason, the coconut in this scent doesn't rear it's head when it's on me so I'm a happy camper. Picked it up from The Perfume Shoppe (because LuckyScent was having issues). Received it very quickly and the owner of the store was good enough to throw in ten L'Artisan samples or so.

    Gimme: The website's great.

  2. A lot of them tend to fall into the "transparent" category, but some of them are actually pretty potent...Dzing, Dzonhka, Timbuktu, Saffrant Troublant, and anything with the word "Extreme".

The reason I ask is that the Dzing sample I got seems to wear off of me very quickly, but except for the fade factor I'm keen to pick it up. It'll probably be more potent if it's sprayed, I would imagine?

  3. Indooroopilly is not worth your time.

I would suggest going to the stores in Fortitude Valley, specifically some of the ones that are reviewed on SuFu such as Blonde Venus (and the Outpost, these two stores are run by the same fashion power-couple) and some of the others along that stretch.

There are some interesting places in the West End, which isn't far from Brisbane's city. There's an especially interesting bookshop down that way called Avid Reader, I believe.

There are occasionally some vintage gems to be found in the second-hand opportunity shops in the Paddington area.

  4. Well, you know where you want to base yourself, which is good. The South Island is beautiful and you have enough time to see more than just Queenstown and Wanaka. A lot of people come to Queenstown/Wanaka to have a working holiday spent on snow sports and the easiest job to get will probably be at any number of lake-side cafés and restaurants.

Are you going to the North Island?

  5. Brittany is off the cards for winter-visiting, I think, given that I've been told that the unreliable whether doesn't make for good times outside. Apart from that, I'm pretty interested in going to Strasbourg and Nancy.

A few people have told me that going east is the opposite to what I should be doing and that the mild weather of the south is a definite reason to head down there; it won't be dead(ish)?

  6. I'm organising a trip to France that will last about six weeks, two and a half of which I'm spending in Paris. I believe I'd like to spend some time in Alsace/Lorraine, perhaps Lyon and Savoy. I'm geared to avoid the south as I'd rather save that for better weather, I think. Where's appropriate for winter? I'm interested in everything from art, architecture and museums to hiking and such.

    Thanks.
