  1. I know Levi's Capital E isn't a huge hit here, but I'm just wondering if all the rigid/raw denim jeans are natural indigo or is it just a certain pair or two? I saw on their web site they said:

Other elements of the Levi’s® Capital E™ lines including the use of recycled buttons, rivets and zippers and natural indigo to dye some styles of jeans were employed for their minimized impact on the environment.
  2. any suggestions?

You have a couple of options. You can hot soak them for a few hours, while occasionally adding more hot water over time. If that still doesn't work you can put them in the dryer. If you do either I also suggest you turn your pants inside out. The dryer will cause more shrinking, but typically is said to do more harm to the jeans, so it's recommended to try the hot soak first.

(There is a very good chance this will dye the color of your dryer, but for me with my 5EP's, no indigo came off on a load of whites right after.)

  3. APC New Standards or Imperial Dukes for a versatile jean that can be dressed up with the right shoes, blazer etc.

Also consider the $100 difference in price...

    Thanks!

Well the Imperial dukes will be a much better pair of denim all around. They are 100 dollars more though, and the APC New Stnadards are still a solid jean. This is like comparing apples to oranges in a way. So it's really up to you. Personally, if I were you I would go with the Imperials. The indigo color is imo (much) better, the quality is going to be better, they are somewhat more colorfast than the NS, and they have one of my favorite backpocket stitching of any brand. I also think the Imperials will dress up better than the NS.

  5. I hot soaked them for an hour the like a dumbass put them in the dryer without turing them inside out(dying my dryer blue). Am I screwed?

Well imo unless you're trying to get serious shrinkage raw denim should never touch a dryer. Are they ruined? No, but dryers can cause a lot of fading to the indigo from all the tumbling.

The colorloss, if any, is permanent, but if you're worried about the loss of startch effecting fades then you can restartch them.

“After you wash your jeans – and while they’re still wet – spray starch on them. You can either lay them on a table and do it, or put them on -- depending on how hardcore you are. Rub the starch in, and let them air dry, and it’ll give your jeans that rigidity that you loved about them when they were new.†- Richard Cadet, owner of Famous Friends

  6. i just got a pair of kmw 1980's. do i need to soak these? they fit pretty much perfectly so they'll probably stretch out to be too baggy :(

Most likely not. For one they are sanforized and two KMW don't stretch out that much. Even sanforized jeans will shrink some in a hot bath, but in this case I don't think it's neccessary. Unless they are slightly baggy, the indigo is bleeding too much, or you have a problem with how stiff they are from starch, generally, I say don't soak. KMW indigo is colorfast as hell though, so it doesn't really matter what you do, in terms of color loss.

...some say you should cold soak all your raw denim to get out extra startch to prevent holes and tears, but that's up to you.

  7. I think the sale of products made by prisoners is pretty fucked up. I can understand having them manufacture goods necessary to keep a prison going but using them as unpaid labor when the prison industrial complex is one of the most profitable and growing sectors in the US is disgusting.

As I understand it no one is forced to do work in prison, it's completely volintary. They are also paid a small amount of money so that when they are released they have some money instead of absolutely nothing, which occurs in many cases.

  8. i've heard time and time again the RRLs are arguably the best made-in-USA denim out there.

As I understand it both RRL and Rag & Bone are made at Cone Mills in Greensboro, NC. Wouldn't it stand to reason that both RRL and Rag & Bone are of almost near identical quality? I mean I really doubht they have different looms (No photographs allowed of them, IIRC) and such, but I could be wrong. (I can't say this for a fact, as I've only seen RRL and not Rag & Bone, so please correct me if I'm wrong someone.)

  9. The fake fading is seriously horrible, instant deal breaker.

Judging from their measurements the cuts sound horrible, too. The slim is nothing close to being slim.

The fact he was trying to pass this off as something he's unafillidated with also makes me never want to purchase from them. There is nothing wrong with flat out saying "Hey, I'm proud as hell of my jeans, and here is a link to them, maybe you'll like them too."
