  1. The item is Nom de Guerre's Rubberized N2 jacket in black, size medium.

    Price is $325 + shipping

    It's this exact jacket: http://www.contextclothing.com/item.php?id=1113

    I ordered it from Context.

I wore it one single time ever, no lie. I'm an idiot for cutting the tags (which I still have). I basically ordered this, then a jacket I really, really wanted went on sale, so I bought it, and have no use for this one now (they are similar). It's been sitting in my closet unused. It's really a fantastic jacket, and if I could use it at all I would keep it, but I need the money. Plus I think it's a steal at $325 honestly.

I have some photos I took with my shitty camera on my phone, and you can't make anything out. I can take a picture of the tag or something if you want me to prove I own it. It's in mint condition, with no flaws. I don't post on Sufu often, but I do post on the other SF under the username "onion", and have bought and sold there multiple times. Feel free to PM me here or there with questions or offers.

Also selling Common Projects Shell Toes black in size 43. I'll let them go for $125 + shipping. I can provide photos of those tomorrow.

  2. +1

Plan to kop the day these are released.

I think I'm going to wear some loose shoe laces in them, but keep them on my feet by zipping them up half way. I think it should fit in with the Richard Chai asthetic (which is what I'm going for) pretty well. Or maybe I'll just stay laceless. Either way they are going to be dope.

I do wish Richard Chai hadn't released photos so damn early though. I've been wanting these things for like 6 months, and they still don't come out til January.

Here are a couple of bonus runway shots:

  3. PAPA SHOES was probably like, "wow we've got so many orders for these boots.. let's raise the price...

Yesterday they had 50 orders, today they have none....

Ithinkit's actually because a vendor complained about how low the price was. Since Wolverine told all of it's retailers to not mark the boots down, I can imagine another seller of these being quite upset that a random website is undercutting them illegally. Wolverine probably cracked the whip on them the same way Band of Outsiders told Farinelli's to stop having a forum discount on their brand. Or maybe I'm wrong, who knows?

If that is the case though, I have to assume Papa's shoes will send out the orders it's already received, since it's wasn't their idea to raise the price to begin with.

  4. This shit is so lame. There are spots in Japan where they actually do really good artificial wear on raw denim. While I wouldn't do it, the stuff they produce is much better looking than the garbage posted in this thread.

    Proof: http://yokedesign.co.jp/gallery.html

If some are wondering why that brand looks familiar, it's because that company was featured in the Japanese television show the owner of BiG was on.

The show Gordon is on is here: http://denimnews.blogspot.com/2008/07/gordon-is-denim-superstar-in-japan.html

  5. I had a talk about that with the counter clerk in the bespoke shoe factory in my town a couple of weeks ago. Suede is indeed split leather but not necessarily without a smooth face, the "velvety" outside is the split sid in any case. Roughout is unsplit leather with the original skin side facing inward.

Cordovan essentially is highly treated and polished roughout leather, that's why it's surface behaves so different from other types of leather.

I agree with everything you said, and would just add that cordovan isn't like most other leathers in many ways. Much of that is because it's not actually the skin of the animal like other leathers, instead it's a layer of muscle underneath the skin.

  6. 1. does hairyness go hand in hand with slubbiness ?

    2. how does slubbiness affect actual fading properties ?

    1. No. Hairy denim is just a result of the denim not being singed (basically burnt) in production, leaving extra fibers on the cotton. It has no bearing on the indigo or the weave, just the cotton itself.

    2. In my experience they fade like normal jeans to be honest. The slubbiness sort of goes away every wash, but usually remains visible for the most part.

Edit: Oops was late to the party...

  7. They don't happen to do one off pairs of jeans (ie MTM) do they?

I figured I'd ask since production seems to be all based out of Raleigh.... and it's only a couple of hours from me (I'm in Charlotte).

  8. I was looking to get my girl some raw denim, but I'm not sure if it will work out. She refuses to wear a belt ever, and is constantly throwing her jeans in the dryer to make the waist tight again. I'm afraid if I don't size these right for her they will stretch out, and she'll either never wear them again, or just fuck them up in the dryer.

    Any advice?

  9. One thing I've always wondered, and perhaps this is a good place to ask: Does detergent in general protect indigo, or does it make the jeans lose indigo?

I'm not asking if the difference is minor or major (that depends on the detergent itself), but I've heard conflicting stories. I've heard that detergent actually protects color fading/loss, and I've heard the opposite as well.

Personally, I usually turn them inside out and machine wash on cold with Woolite dark and hang dry. I think from now on I'm going to avoid the spin cycle, though I've never done that in the past before.

As an aside, I'm washing my Ande Whall streaky's for the first time today. I'm excited to see how they turn out. :)

  10. I tapered a pair of jeans, and they went from never being worn, to being my best fitting jeans. I highly recommend it, so long as you have a competent tailor.

Also you can taper whenever you want, but the fading from stacking will shift with them. The more you taper the stranger it will look. It can also effect honeycombs on the back of the knee, depending on where the taper is done from (by the way, point out where you want this to be to the tailor before hand!).

Will it make you look completely retarded if the fading shifts an inch? No. In fact, I bet most people wouldn't ever notice. Then again we are not most people, so you may want to reconsider. I'd have serious doubts about it personally if my jeans were older than a month or two.

  11. Question is, how does one go about getting through to Quoddy? So far they aren't answering phones, returning emails or voicemails. Yeah, yeah, yeah, they're busy because of the GQ thing... but they must be doing some business. What gives?

As far as I know it's a very very small business. I've heard they were pretty damn slow a few months ago, and if they've been featured in GQ I can only imagine what it's going to be like now.
