My favorites when it comes to pre-distressed are:

Acne - Just because the Mod cut fits me so well and most of the washes are subtle

Kohzo - Cool textures/colours. Expensive but they sometimes come up on yoox at a reasonable price

Superfine - I've never tried them on but whenever I see other people wearing them, they look great.

Ksubi is a too played out.. especially here in Aus. But I guess some of the faded indigo washes are okay.

I'm very interested in how these DIY methods actually turn out. There has been a couple of wax threads but they didn't look very nice..

If you are having trouble finding/dont want to splash out on black coated jeans, you can do it yourself by painting them with black acrylic paint. That is essentially what nudie and acne do and it looks pretty sweet. My brother did it to a pair of cheaper ones as a little experiment and they looked great.
