  1. AMAZING! i loooove my 514s, slim cut rocks! although id love them more if the leg opening wasnt rediculousy huge... these are gonna be great! im a sz 34 dude so this is gonna b the highlight of my summer denim purchases :)

i just bought the SEXI04's i know these are really slender cut but the measurements ive looked at seem to be great for my current body shape, but i know when these drop (if im able to cop a pair ) theyll probably be my fave all time SEX collabo :D

  2. cmon guys ive been lurking on this thread since it was first made, it was going good, to a point where id be excited to see the progress on the jeans, where they were, and what who ever had them was doing that day...

    what happened?

give a guy something worth lurking for please!

  3. YURR da kid!!!!

    "I'm so... hyped right now....

    ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE

AAAAAANNNNNNNNNYYYYYYTHIIIIIING IS POOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSIBLEEEE!!!!!111!!!11!1!!!1!.... You looking good tonight girl"

LMFAO Garnett a maniac! In the best way possible :D

  4. Monkey Fresh which Jacket intrests you?

The nylon shell looking ones, kinda resembles a northface, but it looks much nicer, without the obnoxious logo, simple and clean :)

do you guys also make pea coats by any chance?

  5. took a look at your site, lovin those jackets! can i get some info on them? materials, other colors, prices? anything will help, looking to buy a new jacket like those, for bad weather and what not please and thanks

  6. Ok... I seriously smashed/threw it with rage, a perfectly good cell phone because the Lakers lost.

FUCK THE WORLD, BUT MOST OF ALL FUCK BOSTON.

    God damn you.

O you mad? not as mad as Vujacic and Kobe i bet :P

I was waiting for the Finals to be over to pose this question, but last night's game has me too excited.

Anyway, is there any greater sports city than Boston?

The Red Sox have won the World Series twice in the past 4 seasons. The Patriots have won the Super Bowl 3 times in the past 7 years and nearly won a fourth this season. The Celtics are on the verge of winning a title. And the Bruins, while clealy the worst of the four teams, even made a playoff appearance this year.

Mixed with the overall passion for sports in this region (yes I know there are a lot of knucklehead fans nowaday that root for the Sawx and Pats, but no where else has such a large fanbase of genuinely passionate people who live and die by their teams), and I don't think you could name a greater sports city.

10 years ago, we were losers. Couldn't win anything. Now, we're the best. In everything all at once. It's pretty amazing.

I hafta admit it but Boston is probably the best sports city right now...

Being a New Yorker, I hate Boston Sports, but i gotta give it up to you guys, ive been rooting for the celtics and although during the season i hated them, i gotta say ive grown a bit fond of the team, especially house, pierce, powe, and rajon haha

but lets leave it at that i still hate the patriots and the red soxs :D

  7. Amazing game! I was ready to quit watching in the 1st and hand that one to the lakers. Ray Allen was on fire, I like House being in there a lot. Peirce needs to be on Kobe for the rest of this series.

    Arg, crazy!

    BEAT LA!!!

same here man... seriously about to just change the channel...

but crazy good game, Ray Allen is a machine, seriously like vujacic is a great shooter but he'll miss... Ray Allen NEVER misses lmao

and House ooo man hahaha hes so G man my friends kept saying

"The tide changes when the thug is in!!!"

Rajon had a good like what 15 mins of play? but putting House in was a good move

and Pierce... oooo man he stuck TIGHT on Kobe i gotta give it to him, good stuff, Kobe must be mad lmao

  8. Hell, considering you don't know anything about photography (and are too lazy to search for yourself) I would tell you to go with a D40. Even cheaper, and the issues the D40 has that differentiate it from the D80 are not something you're going to be dealing with, especially if you a) can't tell the functional difference between a d40/d80 and B) you probably have the cash to blow on brand-new DX lenses instead of scrounging around in 2nd-hand bins.

I'd suggest buying a D40, throwing away the kit lenses, a 50mm f/1.8 and going away from here for awhile. Then come back in six months after having taken hundreds of photos and say hi. I guarantee you'll be a lot better.

Otherwise, the Canon Rebel, or Rebel Xti are pretty good bang for the buck. I'd suggest going with super-entry level camera body and spending your cash on high-end lenses, 35mm f/1.8 and otherwise being good ones, or the 18-200mm f/2.8 VR for Nikon. I don't know Canon, but there are plenty (most) people on here who shoot Canonzu.

Plus, seconding the buying books 'Understanding Exposure', and my personal favorite, Upton's 'Photography', 6th Edition. Comprehensive and utterly cheap. (~40 USD if you can find it used.)

Finally, lurk a lot and use the GOOGLE function. Your questions, I KNOW, are answered both on SF, or elsewhere on the web using the 'What beginning dSLR should I purchase', or similar.

I assume you are getting a new set, Canon 400D/450D/30D/40D, Nikon D80/D200/D300 are all good.

I wouldn't recommend Nikon D40/D60 series, cause they do not have inbuilt AF motor, which makes you lose AF function on non AF-S lens, where most prime lens now aren't AF-S, and mid end zoom lens.

But if you don't mind getting used, there's a lot of good deals.

Like Canon 20D/5D, Nikon D70/D200 are quite good deals now.

For the learning curve, I think just keep on practicing and trial and error.

Rather than buying a basic body and upgrade to another better body after awhile, may make a loss in selling and buying again.

Google and go down to reputable camera shops in your area and test out, afterall you are the one using.

    My 2 cents.

    Thanks. :)

    Interesting shot!

I assume you firing off the flash wirelessly with the kid holding the flash?

    Lizard chilling out ya.

pretty good book and one that alot of people recommend is "Understanding Exposure"

    by Bryan Peterson

Just another XY: sorry for not using the search... im not a lazy person i just kinda forgot about it lol i shouldve googled too your right but its nice to see what ppl on these forums had to say so thats why i asked, Thans for your suggestion, but Im iffy on the D40, i know i really cant differntiate between that and the D80 yet but i just wanna make a good investment, so i dont hafta deal with selling and buying. I was looking at the canon rebel, but iono im not sure if i can use my dad's lenses, hes been using nikon, like i said before he has a D 70, and i think he has that 18-200mm f/2.8 VR on his set up right now. Ill def look at those books you and dunkin deeznuts reccomended, and also ill def be lurking alot so u dont hafta worry about that lol.

Shiro: Yea i def need that AF function lmao, otherwise none of my pics would be clear prolly  I really like the D70 my dad has, and im really leaning towards the D80, but u dont think the D200 will be too much for a novice? I'd love to get good deals so ill def look around, but my dad warned me about knock offs so im a lil worried when i see something really low priced.. and ill def go down to my local camera shop and look around, my dad gives em good business so i know theyre reputable

Thanks you guys for the help, i really appreciate it :)

and i love that lizard pic haha i miss my iguana

  9. Shoque: 3001's could be good for you. If you wanted something a little different, you could get some Samurai 710's. PBJ's are also amazing. They are not tapered, but have an overall slim fit. Definitely recommend the xx-005, 007, and 008.

Monkeyfresh: I sometimes think people look weird if they have large thighs and a very tapered jean. If you like that look, then get the seXi04. I personally think that the Paul Smiths would be better, though. I like the denim better... If you do want something however with a tapered leg that you want to be less tight in the thigh, 710's might be good for you. I had a pair and had to sell them due to the thigh being too large, so you would probably like them. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice midnight, i agree its wierd to see someone with that type of fit, i just really like imperial for some reason, but ill def look into the paul smiths more, since im in NY i might go to blue in green next week after i get paid and try em on

also, im def gonna look at the 710's, im liking the 19 oz denim, i know the paul smiths are 13 oz and the SEXI04s are 14.25 oz, and im iffy on the indigo retention with those two, atleast with the 710's i can wash every 2 months or so and not worry about anything

i havent really looked around tho i guess i had tunnel vision after noticing the red ears and the SEXI04s were in stock in my sz

  10.

The D80 is a very good camera and should last quite a while before you will need to upgrade to something more professional. There isnt much point going for the D200 just yet, youre better of starting out smal and upgradingl, some people might disagree but thats my view on the matter.

As youre a begginner, you might also want to consider the olympus DSLR series, such as the E420 and E520. They are both very light and easy to handle (a big bonus if youre new to SLR photography) and they both feature the Live Preview funtion, meaning you can use the display (the screen) to frame your shots as well as the viewfinder.

The best thing you can do is go to a decent photography shop and then try a few out, see which one you feel most comfortable handling. Once youve decided what you want, go out and find the best deal, haggle until they throw in as many extras as you can carry.

Very cool, yea i think the D200 is prolly better but mayb i should start small and work my way up, i just dont wanna buy something that will get outdated in a year ya know? i think i heard the D90 is coming out soon might check that out, will most probably be out of my price range tho..

I really wanna take a photography class but i fear i have lil time to spare for it unless its on the weekend... summers i have a 9-5 job with practice with my basketball crew in the evening, we play in a league, and on top of that i actively do community service so id hate to cut that, ill def look for one tho during the school year if i have enough time between studys (i need to factor having a life too lmao my studys severely restrict that...:( )

does anyone reccomend any good self help with DLSR photography books?

    DSLR photography for dummies

and nice pics shiro, your friend has a great cosplay costume, atleast she fits the roll...

Otakon 06 ive never seen so many fat chicks dressed up as neko girls and lacy maids... jeez

  11. Im about to invest in my first pair of premium raw selvage jeans and im caught between two pairs:

Paul Smith Red Ears X Blue in Green

    or

SEXI04's (happy to know they still have my sz in stock)

I really like both jeans but im not sure about the thigh sz on the SEXI04's, im not a skinny dude, but im not fat, still kinda thick legs and thighs from playing basketball and tennis, and im not sure about paul smith as a brand, not much ive read about them i know its a london based brand (i think?)

what do you guys reccomend? im leaning towards the SEXI04's but again still caught in the middle

  12. yeah i think once you become familiar with what you're gravitating towards, it well make the purchase more worth it

true, i was looking at the pricing for the models i mentioned, the D80 and D200, both very exspensive especially for a college student... but i have a good paying job (atleast for the summer) so it wouldnt take too long to save up, i just want something that would last me a while and really take great pics (although i know its not the camera that takes great pics its the one using it, although a good camera would help)

but yea when you get a feel for what ever it is your trying for the purchase would def seem much worth while and justified

  13. i'm not too strong on the technical side, i'm sure some other people in this thread will have some great suggestions....i'm more about just going out with whatever you have, i'm sure you have some type of point and shoot, and taking photos that express what you want

its cool, and i like that approach, ive kinda always done that too when i take pictures, trying to get unconventional angles and what ever i think looks good, i do have a decent digital camera ill def start with that till i save enough for a nice SLR

and nice pics of the PR parade, i shouldve brought my camera to the Filipino day parade

love that pic of the dude with the know thy self shirt

  14. Man, just when I thought Doc had started to figure out his roster management he goes and blows it last night.

    What was he thinking?!

Powe had an unbelievable game on Sunday. And while I wasn't expecting him to repeat that performance, Doc should have had him in the game earlier. Powe should have been in there instead of Brown (and I like PJ) early. And then to keep Cassell in the game when he's chucking up ill-advised shots is ridiculous. I don't mind when Cassell is shooting when he gets a good look, but he should be pulled as soon as he starts chucking these contested long-range jumpers early in the shot clock. Why get away from what the Celtics have done well all season long: Ball movement, pick n' rolls, post up KG on the block?

To steal a line from Mark Jackson, "Come on, Doc. You're better than that!" (although perhaps he isn't??)

Hats off to the Lakers though. They played well enough to win. Kobe is a monster. Some of those shots he was hitting were amazing. He was far better last night than he was in games 1 and 2.

Even though the Celts lost last night I still think you can find some good.

The Celts were able to shut down Gasol and Odom again. Basically, last night was a two man show - Kobe and Vujacic. I can live with Kobe scoring 30+. That's going to happen. It's an ineveitability. They played pretty good D on Kobe, with the exception of not helping on some drives and spins. If he's making the shots with the kind of D they played then they're just going to have to live with that.

KG and Pierce were pretty much absent from last night's game. The Lakers might be able to shut them down for a half or maybe even a game, but they are not going to shut them out of the series. They're just too good and the Lakers D isn't that impressive. I expect them to rebound from last night's poor performance and come out strong in Game 4.

As long as the Celtics win 1 of these 3 games in LA I'll be happy. That gives them 2 chance to win it all in Boston.

    true true

i was going crazy watching powe the second game, monster preformance especially in such a big game

i loved that one play he strolled up the court and jammed it, like no one wanted to guard him haha

but def if the celtics can land just one game i think theyre good to go

  15. Ive been lurking around the forums, and usually in the denim section but i happened to look around and found this thread and fell in love with it lol

ive been thinking about getting into photography for a while, my dad got into it but he jumps around with hobbies between photography, reef tanks and koi ponds (the koi are his priority now we just had an amazing spawn, TONS of koi fry, the fry and the adult koi will def be one of my fav subjects =D)

after seeing some amazing pics you guys took im eager to start taking my own!

my dad currently uses a D70 with a 18-200 lense on it, i love playing around with it

just wondering, what do you seasoned photographers suggest as my first DSLR?

my dad told me to save up for a D200, and i was looking at the D80 also, but im really not sure what to get

what i really want to take pictures of are shoes hanging from telephone wires, i love seeing them, i think its such poetic justice

also, id love to do alot of nature scapes, my family does a good share of traveling

and ofcourse just ppl, i love what jamel shabazz did during the 70-80's id love to photograph street fashion and how it changes

didnt mean to write a book.. but id love to hear your suggestion :)

  16. where were pierce and garnett? ):
lakers defense actually showed up this game.

rondo didnt play enough to make an impact imo

some bad substitution decisions by doc rivers

tell me about it... pierce and garnett had a combined what... 19 pts?

36 by kobe... jeez... i hate that rapist...

and rondo o man talk about disapointment... but im just glad he wasnt hurt from that spill

and def doc rivers seemed a lil like jackson at boston, kinda just chillin

the game was much closer than i expected tho, i figured the celtics let the lakers get to comfy in game 2 when they almost came back from that 23 point defecit

i just really hope the celtics can win one game in L.A., for sure theyll clinch back at boston

honestly i hate the celtics but i hate the lakers more... plus i gotta support the east know what im sayin

  17. If they're Levi's, they're probably sanforized, so soaking won't do anything other than take some of the starch out if the stiffness is bothering you.

I have no experience with hemp denim, but I don't think you have to do anything different than with a normal pair of jeans. Wear & enjoy.

thanks gimmegimme, the stiffness doesnt really bother me... sometimes tho the texture of the hemp wefts do but its w/e

also, talking about sonforized, are most of uniqlos denim sanforized? i have a pair of raw non selvage stretch shoe cut denim, should i saok those b4 i put any good amount of wear in?

  18. i have a pair of raw selvage denim thats made of 45%hemp and 55% cotton (from levis redline)

should i b worried about anything when it comes to wear of the jeans (durability in particular idk how durable hemp fiber is), how the fades will come out, what will happen if i soak?

i can tell you.. the warp threads are the cotton but the weft is hemp, so wearing gives a rough feeling, and these things are STIFF...

anyone have experience with this kind of denim?
