  1. I was under the impression it was like this to make one handed buttoning easier, also so you can do it without looking. Thumb under the button and slide your index finger against or under the placket. It gives you resistance as you snap it in place.

i see what you mean, but there already are loops under the button as you mentioned, and seeing how this placket design isn't even seen in the upcoming J56 which is a button-only jacket, i don't think their intention is to make one-handed button easier. since if thats the case, then this concept should definitely be seen on the J56 field too, which would probably need it more than the J53 with a zipper.

i don't think gore-tex is that slippery that the loop under the button is not enough for one-handed buttoning.

additionally, inserting a finger into the hidden placket + another finger under the button loops while doing one-handed button means you are snapping on the buttons using the nail side of one finger (if you can visualize) with the flesh side of the other. which idk for you, but for me is a pretty awkward way to snap a button. the only way around it is, to do some maneuvering of the finger AFTER inserting into the placket so you can snap it together with both fingers flesh-side. which, if anything, requires an even more awkward action.

This was a weird purchase. I'll likely regret saying this but I really don't like the main zipper on the J53TS-GT. Its exposed grey metal and grosgrain with no wind flap just messes it up for me. I know it was a deliberate decision and I appreciate the thoughtfulness but it just doesn't agree with me. I feel like the jacket is way unbalanced for my taste because of this: the interops and the assymetrical pocket to accommodate the large zipper are all on the left and load the left side up. I would've loved it if the jacket featured a hidden zip placket.

received mine yesterday. i just noticed, there actually is a zipper placket, but for some reason, they thought it would be a good idea (not sure if purely design, but i cannot think of a strong functional reason for this) to flip the placket over and sew it to the other side.

with that in mind, perfect jacket but is there a way to just remove the stitching and have the placket back over the zipper? it doesn't bother me THAT much, but 'why not' if its a simple job.

the placket is not sewn the whole length down, but only held in place at a few spots with a short stitch.

normally if this was fabric, it would be a no brainer and a 2mins job, but I'm not sure how removing stitches on gore-tex. only issue i can think of would be the stitch-holes would be more visible on gore-tex than regular fabric.

  3.

Original Soles. More flexible and comfy.

I never tried the new version, but the deeper lugs would probably help in wet grass/mud; old school sux in those conditions, but then it was a boot for Middle East operators.

There’s a few tactical sites that sell SFB’s, they might not ship outside the USA.

thanks. looks like i might have to find a way to try them on to be sure. personally prefer the way the laces are looped in the new ones.

  4. advice: nike sfb (8 not 6) - old or new versions?

been considering for quite some time, but never pulled the trigger.

and they seem to be only available on the US nike site? seems like my only option would be ebay.

  5. l haven't tried these pouches personally but from experience with the material l kinda feel like the fidlock is going to be quite heavy for the pouch and the loose corners of the flap makes it look like military shovel pouch. (just my 5c)

yea i get what you mean. so far seems like the bagjack ones seem to fit the bill best. heading to berlin end of this year, gonna check it out in person.

  6. I got some very nice Fidlock pouches from these guys. Great customer service too. If you ask them, they'll put Molle on any of their bags/pouches. https://www.ynotmade.com/en/shop/fieldpouch/?sku=5049

Also, Heimplanet monolith pouches are nice: http://www.heimplanet.com/shop/detachable-pouch-medium/?attribute_color=black

And then there's the multitude of tactical pouches from any military supplier.

monolith seems too clean for me, but the ynot looks good. thanks.

  7. for what its worth, i took the same size for the acronym prestos as the size i tried on for regular prestos at nike. so i would say just head to a nike retailer and try on a pair of prestos.

  8. prestos arrived. probably too late for some, but just in case anyone needs more info, they fit TTS for me as far as my other nikes go. went with XS, with regular nikes being US 9.

  9. For those who own the j53ts-gt can you provide your thoughts? Told myself not to get it but very tempted now.

no p10a-ch/s small anywhere to be found. so i broke and just ordered the j53. will chime in once i get it.

for now, kidney back up for sale, owner has the occasional smoke and drink so willing to nego.

  10. I emailed them about it once, they said that they do. Although I haven't actually bought anything yet.

great thanks! i found some info online by others stating that they do as well, but that was an old post. i'll probably call in to confirm (damn asia-vancouver time difference)

  11. Is there any consensus on whether not the liner is an October release? It sold out on the site, is that just because its in the second drop?

Surprised that more people aren't carrying this.

are you referring to the J58-WS? i see it as 'coming soon'

  12. damn thanks for all the info! i guess it seems as my first P10A, i should (would) go with the CH. no small available in the stotz anywhere anyway.

moneyless: hahaha, damn that was ages ago!

edit: are there any japan stockists that sell online?? can't seem to find any.

edit2: nvm, they seem to cost 30% more...

  13. thanks. will wait for end tomorrow. if they really are 16'' though then i might be able to get away with an M, assuming they do not stretch out much after a few wears. i would say im a true 46.

how easy does the S fade though? if similar to raw denim as you said then it should only show significant fading after tons of wear + wash?

if worn on a rotation basis + dry cleaning would it still fade as easily? can deal with some standard cotton fading but not sure about honeycombs whiskers and shit.

stiffness sounds good, stretch sounds good too. goddamnit putting 'buy both' ideas in my head

  14. edit: points covered by solographik..

just to make sure i got it right, etaproof = stotz = S and CH= schoeller?

but i read somewhere that etaproof is stiffer? and also fades easily?

additionally, cant seem to find any P10A-S in black small anywhere, only CH.

only got 2 kidneys, if i have 3, definitely no ragrets buying both fabrics

  15. Sold out in small.

    argh thanks.

p10a-s or ch? seems that ch has stretch but s doesnt? but ch is a lighter fabric? never handled the fabrics in person so any insight is much appreciated. thanks!

seriously considering j53ts too... thats the real reason for being born with two kidneys

  16. did the P10s size S sold out already or are they only dropping in oct? I'm only seeing M & L.

side note: got my prestos shipping confirmation last night. surprisingly shipped via UPS just as they said they would even though invoice was for regular post. def not complaining though.

i got a similar reply last night too, but saying tuesday 13/09 or thursday 16/09 though. and also odd that it says that orders will be shipped by UPS when on my invoice it states regular postal service. probably use the same template for all replies.

"Thank you for ordering with Acronym. Depending on when you ordered, your order will be shipped on Tuesday (09.13) or by the latest Thursday (09.15). Order will arrive within 1-3 business days depending on where you are located.

After your order has been shipped you will receive an e-mail containing all relevant tracking information. Please also monitor your spam folder as the shipping confirmation message may have been sent there.

Shipping will be done through UPS."

  18. no shipping confirmation for me as well, will prob be quite a long wait seeing mine were/will be shipped via regular postal service and not UPS.
