well not so much overused in waywt-type shots as the point is to focus on just the person/clothes and not get distracted with other background shit.

There originally were a few functional reasons for it, but I think now it's just more of a stylistic choice. Sometimes I wish I had something else to look at in the picture rather than another mediocre outfit.

Mellowfellow's picture is blowing my mind. The quality/clarity, the crispness of the colors combined with how it was shot makes it look fucking 2d.

The RRLs are years old, bought deadstock and perhaps sample one offs since they did not come with the rear inner waist tag. Currently, I don't think RRL denim have blue line selvage anymore. the blue line denim is made in USA although I'm not sure of the specifics.
