wow. except for doing all these things im also making a hat out of my old shoes, what do you think!?

Me too. Among the wristwatch collectors I know, there are many very wealthy people. One guy has 400 watches, the cheapest of which is $4K, the most expensive like $250K. Sometimes they try to dress down and look regular, say with regular Levis and an untucked shirt. But look at their shoes, and they're always expensive. Not always stylish in the way of SF or AA or STLBWA, but expensive or designer nevertheless. Expensive watch, expensive shoes, and the rest intended as kind of a disguise.
thats exactly what i mean. if you let me pick what shoes to wear, the rest doesnt matter so much to me.

I know I'm biased, but whenever I get sales execs making visits at my office, I always check out their shoes first... A well cut, expensive suit - matched with poorly cared for and/or cheap shoes just doesn't cut it. Should be part of basic business training...
yes, i feel the same thing, but in general. many people, though a small percentage of all people, have good looking clothes. an even smaller percentage of those with good looking clothes has also got nice shoes... that is a shame, since it just ruins everything for me.
if i had to choose between nice clothes or nice shoes, i would go with the shoes.

4060/4065 and AF60 are definitely different boots. 4060/4065 is on the Grant last and the AF60 is on the Plaza last. I originally tried to document the differences here:
http://www.styleforum.net/showpost.php?p=784879&postcount=147
Cross posting the info here:
Sizing wise, Grant seems to run pretty true to size. (I tried two on and it seemed that one was narrower than usual and the other wider than usual, so I'm splitting the difference.) Plaza supposedly runs slightly long, but I can't tell.
The way I describe the Grant last is a slightly pointy rounded toe and the Plaza last is a soft square toe. It seems to be hard to compare the shapes of the lasts in words, so I figure if a picture says a thousand words, I might as well post some pictures. I do have boots in the Grant (4060) and Plaza (AF60) lasts. Sorry, they're a bit large, but it seems to be easier to see the difference this way.
Grant last:
im not a big fan of square-ish toes, but the 4060 grant last is beyond great. many ppl have probarly asked and answered this question before, but does any store in europe retail the alden 4060 shells? if not, where in the rest of the world are they to find, since i cant seem to find them online?

Barwag - no never heard of that maker, noting too much came up above the fold in google either.
fre$co - does that mean the 405s fit? Cool!
ok, just thought i might ask, since a have a pair of really beautiful and hi-quality jodhpurs from them, and wouldnt mind another pair.
today i found out about a brand named shipton & heneage, seems quite big in the UK if ive got it right. found a couple of nice shoes from them, how are the quality etc?

prices should be roughly that of pediwear
Another alternative for you would be to go to northampton to the church's, trickers and crockett & jones factory shops. prices are about £175 for church's, £150 for trickers and from the bargain price of £95 for C&J.
If you want to go to C&J though be aware they only open on friday and saturday, and not all day.
oh, that sounds wonderful! by the way, does anyone know of an english shoe brand named Groocock T and Co?

You won't find an Alfred Sargent shop anywhere in London. I don't know about stockists of their shoes though. For the Alfred Sargent shop you will need to go to Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk, approx. 2h30min or so from London. You can see details on the alfred sargent website.
As for Church's, there are several shops in London. I know of one on Regent street which is rather close to Jermyn Street. There may be others even closer.
Cheaney, as far as I know do not have a london store. I'm sure there must be stockists though.
ok, thanks. how are the prices then, about pediwear-level, much higher?

Edward Green is there, as is JLP, Foster's is there, C&J has a shop there, think a few others, but that's all I recall off the top of my head.
thanks (and to you others who replied). but will i find most of the other brands there aswell, like alfred sargent, cheaney, churchs.. especially AS?

These were in the leather goods thread, but felt it might as well be here too. Some leather chukkas that were passed on to me from my father. He said they were over 10 years old and the evolution on these babies is quite evident. I absolutely adore them, theyve got a few scuffs here and there but otherwise they've been kept in great shape.
nice! i love that, but on the picture, it looked like some kind of oxfords or something like that, i didnt see that they were chukka boots until i read it and looked again.

so im going to london in about a week, mainly for shopping and looking at shoes. i want shoes from brands or styles like alfred sargent, churchs, crockett & jones, cheaney, trickers and so on. i like the so called classic english shoes and boots.
the question is, where in england can i find the largest number of these brands within the smallest area?
i want to add i dont fancy the "designer"-collections from these brands, id like to be spared them =). also, this might not be the very best forum to ask this, but you will have to excuse me.
something like these aldens would fit me just fine:
(whoever has taken this picture, sorry for using it without permission but i dont know whos it is)

thanks for replies guys, that helps. obviously not being in a position to try them on makes the selection bit more of a gamble, but thats internet shopping for you!
my other option being in the uk, is to go for an english shoe company, grenson etc, but i am undecided as i like the indy styling.
regards
if i were you, i would go for the english shoes. there are so many wonderful models by crocket & jones etc. im going to uk in a few weeks to buy shoes .

^^ thanks guys, I hope I can pull them off
Tretorn is mainly know for rubber rainboots in Sweden actually, but have made tennis shoes since the 60s or so (and obviously some army contracts). The brand was reintroduced as fashion sneakers not that long ago.
i have a pair of Tretorn Tournament, from -65 or -56 something, not sure. the guy at the second-hand shop i got them from told me they were used by the army aswell. now, they look like they would smell bad.

nice
itd be better if you had the pictures going vertically instead of horizontally.......
i see. i dont know how to do that, but until next time im sure i will have figured out.
i have these exact shoes in 9.5 aswell, with very little wear, that i found in another thrift store a while later. i think these are wonderful shoes, and if i had them in my size i would probarly wear them until they looked like the one on the pictures.

Here's my Beeswax Leather wallabees. A couple years old.
Pay no mind to the swutpantz.
This is the only bad thing...
I want to get a pair of desert treks now, this blackbird dude has them and they look awesome with skinny jeans. Well, I'm pretty sure they're desert treks...
the leather is nice! perfect!

wow!
normally I dont fancy toe-caps, but it just looks so perfect on these. overall i have to say these are one of the most beautiful boots Ive seen, and I have seen a LOT of boots. the color of the leather, the seams, the wonderful tight last and so on... how much do they cost? :_)

still, i think most of the ppl on sufu cares, not to say cares the most, about the aesthetics when it comes to denim. part of the beauty is doubtlessly the side effects of the functionality, but then again.. copper rivets are wonderful and i want them on my jeans.

the none-copper rivets are what ruins it for me.
