  1. Probably a jackass question, but what's the point of saying "no photoshop"?

No hate, just trying to understand photography better.

Are you trying to say, "I haven't processed it yet, so excuse the unfinished image" or "look how amazing this photo is even though I haven't post processed it?"

  2. I'm planning on it as soon as I'm eligible. Doctor wants my vision to have stabilized for 3 years before I go ahead and do it.

Most of my cousins have received it as college graduation presents & they all say it's more than worth it.

Only thing is, my face looks a lot better with glasses, so I'll probably be one of those dudes with non rx lenses...

  3. MSRP on the IWC 3717 with the croc strap is $4400. If I can negotiate that down to the 3.5k mark at an AD, I'd jump on it.

Anything else to consider in the 3.5k range? That's the magic number burning a hole in my pocket. Looking for anything on the more casual side as I already have a dress watch, but no day-to-day one. I have an extremely small wrist though, at 6". Case diameters don't really matter, but watches with large faces (i.e., large diameter + small bezels) look wrong.

I wore a Sea Dweller (not deep sea) briefly, and it looked fine.

  4. anyone ever get this?

i'm an occasional smoker- once a week or so. my friends, on the other hand, chief all day every day.

every once in a while when i get try to keep up with them and get super zooted, my body is at a whack for the next 2-3 days. the best way i can describe it is that my sense of touch is delayed and i have to actually think about what's happening in order to really understand what my skin is feeling.

    wtf?

  5. ive been geezing the sony NEX range, and my ultimate question is, what does a standard slr have over it?

i should explain this is for someone who is not a pro photographer but wants to capture images(memoriess) better than a standard point and shoot.

i considered the sony nex5 when looking to replace my dslr.

i went for the GF-1 in the end, but i really wanted the automatic panorama mode that the nex5 has. it does a lot better job than anything i've managed to do on my own

  6. i'm using the klipsch one and love it. it's not "neutral" or whatever, but they're fun and sound a LOT better than my friend's beats studio.

just wish there was noise cancelling...

  7. ^ I second the last few comments.

I owned a 40D for a year and took it out five time, if that. sold it for a m43 system and never looked back.

what's the point of having a great camera if it's never there for the shot?

also, i love to shoot people... hold a big honking dslr in front of your face and it makes people instantly shy away while a smaller camera isn't as intimidating.

    i recommend the GF1 + 20mm f/1.7 kit that I've been using.

  8. Do you like the "realistic" storytelling style of Norwegian Wood, or do you like the powerful existential ideas of Wind-up Bird?

existential: Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World

realistic: South of the Border West of the Sun

both are great. Hardboiled is one hell of a ride, builds up slowly then it grabs u by the balls and doesnt let go until the end. South of the Border is more tame, but deals more with real human emotion (i guess its something lot of people might be able to relate to). Hardboiled is my favorite HM work, but South of the Border is probably the HM novel i've read the most number of times.

this is just my opinion, but i say save Kafka on the Shore until after you've read a few of the more imaginative novels like Dance dance dance, or Wild sheep chase, etc

now i feel like re-reading all the murakami books again for the Nth time

Just started South of the Border West of the Sun, and feel like I'll be done with it soon. The only other Murakami book I've read is Norwegian Wood. Any more recommendations for "realistic" storytelling novels by him to move onto next? Sadder the better... ha

  9. anyone feels like an entrepreneur ? i'm calling ocb tomorrow we'll make that money while getting wasted.

aha. what're you thinking? i may be interested.

ocb's are really hard to find. my friend brings a couple of packs back whenever he goes abroad, and it lasts us...

my favorite are the books that come with the perforated crutches... so easy.
