Yes, the stretch a lot...the 5000 more so than any of their other jeans. I think I would go with a 31.

Definitely prefer not to but that was just to point out that I don't mind going a bit up in waist size to get a good leg fit but since they stretch a lot at the thighs, I'm sold. Thanks for the advice, will order a pair of 31 after exams. Now to study for them........

I wear a 30 in 103's...5000's fit similar, but not the same...the thighs are a tad tighter, but I sized down to a 29. Maybe a 30 in 5000's would be good.

Thanks for that. About the thigh issue, do they stretch much on the 5000vx? Because I definitely don't want jeans that's maximum stretch in the thighs will still be tighter than my 103's thighs now. I just put on my 103's and I can pull them off with a struggle, without undoing any buttons even though they fit my thighs good. Might get a 30 or 31 (if they stretch) or 32 in the 5000vx and slap a belt around it, even though I don't like belts and everyone always warns about never sizing up on samurais.

Yea, SDA 103. Got a size 31, 45 min midly warm soak, wore when they were still just a bit damp and now they are more relaxed than they were raw. Definitely don't want the thighs to be tighter than those are now though. Also the legs of my 31 waist nudie masas fit nearly perfect but their waist is ridiculously big on me. All others are too tight in the legs with the exception of SC40200 but i really don't like the asses on them.

Thanks anyway, I just wanted a pair of samurais before they took away the arcs and tabs. Been comparing the measurements on 2nd to jeans I have now. Thought the best for me were them s0500xx in a size 31 and I like the way they look on poly and cheep. Something ideal would be like close to (layed flat) 30cm thigh, 14.5 inches waist and about 20cm hem. I've got a weird ass body shape.......

Stacking looks better with more of a taper....if that's the look you're going for, I would get the 710's.

Thanks billiam and I'm not sure if I can pull it off gimmegimme, my thighs are about 23 inches from just sitting here for a few hours infront of the lappy and my waist is about 31.5 inches and I plan on losing some mass off the stomach very soon. Unless the thighs on the 710 stretch a lot (I don't want to have them tight), I think it might be too annoying and weird.....

btw, do the thighs stretch on the 710's?

Well it's cause of people like you who take things on the net seriously that edmond is banned. Reps?!??! Number of posts?!?!?! I had an overall +ve rep before but got bored at work once and started to talk about how i can't control my bladder thanks to slim jeans in the evolution of jeans thread then got a handful of -ve reps but whatever, the self demotion of my e-reputation on this e-community was worth curing my boredom. I just find it disturbing that edmond can't discuss his passion with possibly the largest community who also shares his passion because of whiny pussies who get butt hurt over stuff he says even when they don't respect him. I just feel these limp dicks that are coming after him aren't making that much of an effort to ignore his posts and he is suffering from it.

one wash for me - i prefer things to be shrunk as much as possible to the nth degree where n is an element of R+.

this assures that when you wash it for the first time, you can be assured that it won't be so tight if you don't gain weight.

and also, if you're going to one wash it anyway... why take the risk?

i believe most places don't take back jeans that are already rinsed.

I took some new pictures the other day. Earnest Sewn Fulton 53 ~9 months of wear.

All in all, there some difference but a lot of it it is really small details like the pocket stiching fraying, that hole from my wallet and wear from the hidden rivets and other little things that make the jeans mine.

After I took these pics I gave them a cold wash in the tub with Dr. Bronner's but didn't really see much of a differerence, just some more pronouced blue tones in the lap and down the legs, especially in direct sunlight. I really dig these jeans though, they are so comfortable.
