  2. Looks fine, don't worry about it. Next time, use the small question thread or... APC thread redux.

Members seem to get really pissed off when an entire thread is started over a small matter such as yours, so watch out.

  3. whats the deal with people thinking "raw" is some magical potion that is applied to jeans? That type of thinking is straight hypebeast. Raw is usually rigid but not necessarily all the time. To me, "raw" always meant denim that starts out like a blank canvas. If its not pre-distressed and it fades from something new/dark to something worn/faded, thats "raw" in my book.

    agreed, thanks

  4. I participated in the last philosophy thread that went around. it's a shame that i can't seem to locate it in the abyss that is the new superfuture, but nonetheless i will participate in this one as well.

i'm a junior working toward a bachelor in philosophy.

some courses i have taken include

    kant

    philosophy of mind

    space time and god

    phenomenology

    epistemology

    aesthetics

and i've done extensive professor-lead immersion studies on Husserl, Heidegger, Kant, Sartre, and others.

next semester i will be studying nietzsche and logic....!

if anyone has any questions regarding any of the following subjects i will do my best to suggest some reading or provide a particular philosophical perspective of it

for the fellow studying epistemology, i wrote a paper discussing why Bonjour's Holistic Coherentism ultimately fails due to extended demon hypotheses, a priori metajustification, etc. as observed by Miriam Solomon.

but i also found a deeper intrinsic problem regarding when the truth conferrence occurs for Bonjour, since he believes that "the equally justified threads will diverge and one holistic system will converge on truth"

THIS METHOD ONLY RESULTS IN TRUTH recognizable in the future! it ends up becoming like marxist historiography, with the subject working and investing faith toward a future which he will never see...

if you'd like to see the essay i would be willing to message it to you.

i also have had no luck finding a satisfactory method of truth conferrence through epistemological constructs. no defeaters, coherentism, reliablism, foundationalism all fail.

  5. My girlfriend and I just watched the episode through your links. we've seen this show before and I have to say this has been my favorite episode. Your family has certainly been the most organic and truly loving family I've seen on the show. The family they partnered you with were completely ridiculous and it's just unfortunate they couldn't have taken more from the experience.

Were the few scenes with Maverick dubbed or does he really say "huh?" all the time?

My girlfriend cried when Zane called you Dad.

  6. sam113 i just received the my b. son fleece button hood. i didn't realize it would be dry clean only! do you think it would damage the garment to wash it, or is it just to sustain the plush of the fabric? it's only cotton afterall, though very nice cotton!

also, anyone thinking about the b. son fleece button hood should get it. the quality is excellent and the material is very thick. the fleece inside is SO comfortable.

p.s. sam113 is the shades of greige waxed zip hood sold out in all sizes? i'd love an extra small

  7. hey eastcoastrider thanks for the photo. sorry for the late reply. that was definitely a trip down memory lane looking at the photo. I wonder if there is a photo of the oscar the grouch knock off photo deck floating around (that was the one I had)

do you know where to buy any of those photo series decks? I love that zoo york wood, and the photo series graphics slid really well (or so I remember)

    i really want a zipzinger.

  8. eastcoastrider27 thanks for the suggestion. do you know where to find an image of the deck? a google image search (rob jest zoo york deck) didn't yield anything.

anyway, i just picked up a new deck/.

    chico brenes chocolate deck

    set up with

    krux wood grain trucks

ricta paul rodriguez wheels (probably 6 years old)

  9. Hey paean, GREAT fit. I love those jeans on you could we see some more pics?.what size are those? what are your measurements (if you don't mind)? I'd really like to pick up a pair of those, but I really don't know if the 28s would fit me. THANKS

haha lots of questions. you're just the only one i've seen lwith a good fit (in my opinion) in these so far

  10. The Repeater is right. If we're speaking in monetary terms, the value of art is determined by the collectibility, mass appeal, and opinion of highly esteemed critics.

If your question regards what deems art to be art, as opposed to how much a piece of what is already considered art can fetch at auction, you should look into aesthetics. Although, a little tip: the common opinion of many of todays aestheticians deems the category of art to be an amorphous entity which expands and constricts to allow or disallow new offerings by artists. Thus no concrete definition of art could exist.

For example, Duchamp's Pissoir expanded the practical concept of art by taking an everyday appliance and placing it in an artistic context.

regarding your question of Chopin and Britney Spears, once you deem both to be art they can only differ in genrification or personal preference. The only way to trump one to the other, beyond subjectivity, would be to exclude Britney Spears from your concept of art, and operate on the assumption that since it is not art it can not be compared to art objectively.

  11. I agree, RFKorp, that flying luttenbachers and xbxrx were the most pertinent additions. I had to keep going because neither name seemed to spark any interest. Maybe others don't really know of weasel walter... but i think many of the people in this thread could appreciate his drumming. like you said... he's a machine.

maybe naked city doesn't belong, but the first page read, loosely, "loud with jazz riffs in 7/4 time"...that's naked city to the T. that doesn't mean they're my favorite band though.

edit: and, like hebay said, they've got a definite style. I don't listen to much locust or naked city anymore, but they were both quite striking when i was new to these genres because of their flamboyant delivery and stage presence. it also springboarded me into things i much favor today, like Boredoms, Henry Cow, Art Bears, etc... but that's for another thread.
