  1. So, in the next Final Fantasy you ride around the desert in the back of a luxury sedan dressed like a wistful Korean pop star.

    ..dammit.

Still gonna play the hell outta it.

You're right though...very pretty to look at.

  2. There is a Greek film called "Landscape in the Mist" (Topio stin omichli) and it is without a doubt the most depressing film I have ever seen. It's about a brother and sister who run away to find their absent father whom they've never met.

In particular, there is this one scene in which the children are hitchhiking. At one point a truck driver who has picked them up pulls over for a rest and takes the sister to the back of the truck. You never see a thing. The entire action is obscured but you know exactly what is going on. I can't say anything else without ruining one of the most perfectly executed scenes I've ever seen. It's gut wrenching and will leave you pretty messed up for a couple days.

Those of you with an interest in storytelling or film-making might consider checking it out. Just be advised you're gonna hate yourself and this entire world for a while. If you don't like having your life ruined then stay clear.

  5. Ok wow. I'm not sure this collection should be seen as a ringing endorsement of the third reich. I can easily see this as well (the overall military theme) but I think a lot of this can be attributed to the fact that we are looking at a group of very European, very idealized models.

Try picturing some of these looks on people you actually know from your everyday life: it goes from Aryan youth to chubby cub scout and from Nazi aviator to someone with expensive clothes but less impressive cheekbones.

It's just a fact that a majority of high fashion runway shows and photo shoots are looking for the type of body, face and skin tone that gave Hitler a serious boner. While out in the real world you can run into people of all ages, size and color with amazing style.

  6. i once friended an arab girl on facebook thinking she looked familiar and that i must know her, turns out we're both friends with the same person. but i had no use for the girl i just friended cause i dont know her and never met her. so i delete.

i see her in H&M a week later and she asks why i deleted her... aaaaaawkward.

i would never have asked were i her, i would have ignored me. now i see her everytime i shop there cause she works there. :-/

Julz, the only real option here is to get that chick fired...or deported...y'know, whatever your heart says.

  7. Well said.

I'd be shocked if these weren't already said, but to reiterate:

    Kill Bill

    Juno

    Donnie Darko

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Also, my guilty pleasure is Borat. It's been done to fucking death, but I still love doing it. Even though doing impressions ironically is lame, I can't help myself.

I was gonna go after Sunshine too but I felt did enough bitchin' about Eraserhead. I sure am glad someone did though. Gondry's fun time, quirky camera tricks and painfully obvious metaphors didn't help what I'm sure was a perfectly fine Kaufman script.

Giant prosthtic hands and dancing stuffed animals are no substitute for solid film making fundamentals and making choices that serve the story.

  8. eraserhead

    lynch in general

ERASERHEAD!!! Thank you! Dear Gawd! I can appreciate the view that merely evoking feelings (such as dread and suicidal doubt) is enough to stand as a work of art.

But couldn't Lynch have just done an installation or crappy series of paintings. That way I wouldn't have to listen to film school wannabees who just grew out thinking seven and fight club were the greatest movies ever made ride this film's dick.

  9. I actually looked this up to be sure before I PM'd lowrider but, DCT = Dual Clutch Transmission. And from the fact that it is a 7 speed, it would have to be auto. I believe I read that it's a little faster than the previous SMG, but lowrider would probably have more information about it.

It's amazing technology to be sure and I've nothing but good things to say about their performance in Audis I've driven with similar set ups. But if I'm getting an ultimate driving machine strictly for my pleasure and not as a track car, then I damn sure want a stick.

It's just that intimacy with your transmission and engine. Really feeling the heart of your car and not just that PSP feeling. That's really an over generalization. I'ts an M3, it will feel and drive like an M3 and it will kick ass like an M3.

  10. Don't have them in hand but I've ordered:

Somet Slim Black w/ Black Selvedge 26W (measures 29")

2008 M3 Sedan in Alpine white with fox red leather and carbon leather trim w/ DCT, premium, tech, and cold weather packages, forged 19" wheels, and iPod adaptor - won't be here until late July / early August though =(

    Manual or automatic?

  11. They are low priority next to my hunt for damn-near-perfect white sneakers but I'll prolly end up getting a pair down the line.

When you renounce the goth-ninja style you gotta be able to pull off some lighter looks in the spring... without turning into some tool rockin' the khakis and moccasins.

That would be the tool in the Audi A4 with the McMansion in Kirkland (for those from the greater Seattle area).
