great fit, were those sized down 3?

  2. can someone tell me the diff between the PS and the NS?.

is the overall fit the same?

and can i get some fit pics of PS's?

    thanks in advance.

PS is slimmer and lower rise. i posted fit pics of mine a few pages back. search through my old posts and you should find them.

  3. so is there any official word on how much the black PS's stretch compared to the indigo? I'm thinking of sizing down around 2 or 3 for a pair of blacks, as I would for indigo. Is this a bad call?

i wouldn't size down more than 2 in the black PS. i couldn't imagine how tight sizing down 3 would be, probably unwearable. mine have stretched out quite a bit, especially in the waist. i will measure them and put up the numbers in a bit.

EDIT: just measured the waist and it was just under 34". i could hardly believe my eyes. i do sag them a bit so that would explain all the stretching. they definitely don't look sloppy though.

  4. kino, how are your black PS working out? i think you are the only other person in this thread that bought them in black. i'm curious to know how they have stretched for you.

  5. thanks for all your replies. sorry but i forgot to emphasize that i do not want the denim to break down, i dont want abrasions and holies. oh and paulista, did u wash them and how often?

if i dont want them to fade too much then i dont wash so often? or rather whats the optimal amounts of wash and regularity, for my case?

    they have never touched water.

if you are that fanatical about keeping them with no fades just dry clean them. it gets expensive but will keep them looking as close to the original as possible. so, in your case, the "optimal" amount of washing is NONE. the more you wash them, the more they will fade

  6. oh thanks for ur answer. so if i dont want the jeans fade as little as possible, but i want the petite standard fit, then how can i get it? are there any non-raw jeans that APC sells which have good fits? if not is there any way i can send the APC raws for treatment? thanks.

the black raw denim doesn't fade very much. i've been wearing mine for 4 months and i still can't see any fade lines. they should be ok if that's what you are looking for.

  7. paulista, what are your petits measuring in the waist now after like what... 3.5 months?

they measure about 30". just shy of 4 months. i'm not really wearing them all that hard as i'm satisfied with the way they fit at the moment.

  8. The other night I wasn't thinking and wore my PS to a party and now they're really really stretched out. I'm a girl and I was hoping they would be able to fit reasonably well but I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to get that anymore... I've only had them a month and I havent washed them yet... any help?

any shrinking will be temporary, they will just stretch right back out. the only way to avoid it is to downsize more. besides, if you can't wear your PS to a party why have them? just wear them and don't worry about it. they are meant to be worn hard.

  9. I have had my standards for a year and a half and have washed them once intentionally. The first time my friend washed them when I was staying over their place. Talk about hospitality. I was so vexed! I had only been rocking them for 6 months and I had been planning the way I was going to wash them since I had first copped them from the SoHo store. My OG Levi's didn't even get the same wear as these did so I couldn't wait to do that first wash, my way, the right way. Washing the enzymes out and brushing the denim so that each thread coated with indigo would be massaged. It's disgusting how I think out my denim.

So this guy, my friend, tells me he washed my jeans and throws them to me crumbled like it was a pair of sweatpants. Immediately, my heart sinks. A tear falls. It's indigo blue. As I unravel these mutant pair of jeans, torched from being in the dryer, all I can do is remain calm. I couldn't bear to look at this Rosemary's baby of denim. This was not my Standards. This was afterbirth that crawled out of the womb of a dryer. They say once you acknowledge the mistake or imperfection- the next step is to fix it. So, I did the only thing a parent could do when they are upset with the outcome of their Jeans. I cried. I wept. I cursed God and then I accepted them for what they are. The whiskers were still there. The almost blown out knees were still there. I told myself that I could still make these the pair of Denim I want them to be.

I pulled those tight, creased, scorched things around my legs and repeated the process of sweating in them so that the bacteria began to eat at each thread. I wore them every day like underwear. I drank in them and spilled beer intentionally on them. Walked in the rain with no umbrella and entertained the idea of swimming in them. Never got a chance to swim in them but after a year- they started looking familiar. They looked more familiar than ever. They even had that greasy shine to them that I love.

In the pictures attached you can see all these details. You can even see the vertical crease lines from the first wash. I use to hate them but now I love that detail. When I repaired them I went for a traditional box stitch. You can see these on the knees and upper pocket. My favorite part of having these now is when people ask me where I got my denim or what kind of denim I'm wearing. The first guess is Diesel. I laugh. When I tell them they are A.P.C. they shake their head as if I'm lying. Then with a very humble reply I tell them "they do not sell this type of denim there. They come raw, as in blackish-blue. I have worn these every day for over a year. That is the reason why they look like this".

That's when you catch that look of disgust. That look that says you is a nasty motherfu**er. That's when I smile...

one of the greatest posts ever.

  10. paulista how do you like your black ps, any fades starting?

also what is meant vertical streaks sorry for the massive noob question.

fading hasn't really started, just creasing and breaking in. from what i hear the black denim is harder to fade than the indigo. i'm not really looking for the destroyed look so it's fine by me. by "streaks" i think they mean the way the sheen of the denim looks like at first. it fades away to a normal look with wear.

as for the sizing, my black PS were sized down 2 as were my indigo NS. the PS were FAR tighter than the NS. this may have been caused by the difference in the indigo and black denim, i don't know. the PS were "embarrassingly tight" at first, as i said before. my NS on the other hand i would say were only snug. my PS are a much tighter version of my NS, all the way through. smaller hips, waist, knees, cuff, etc... not sure how the indigos are but other people seem to be saying they aren't that tight. i can only speak for the black ones.

anyone looking for measurements should READ BACK a few pages. i posted B.I.G. measurements of my black PS.

  11. they fit the same, and neither retain selvedge. supposedly, it's cut off because they're tapered. i have no idea if the black ones take longer to fade, but you might want to think twice about them because they have these vertical streaks and are a dark grey, not really black.

i think the blacks PS fit slimmer than the indigo.

  12. The petite standards are similar to the new standards except there is a lower rise

they are also slimmer, hence the "petite". technically they are considered a straight leg cut but i think once you stretch out the waist and thighs they end up being a little bit tapered imo. the cuffs don't stretch as much as the waist/thigh area would.

  13. 36s. i really wish i went with the 34s but i would have never figured i was supposed to go that low

does this mean you measured yourself as a true 37-38? are you sure? you definitely don't look it. this may be contributing to the massive size.

  14. haha, my PS were as tight as yours when i 1st got it. but it's seems okay now couple days later.

btw, does anyone's PS looks like they are going to burst when it's worn? mine does. i can see the stitching on the sides

i can definitely see the stitching where they have stretched at my hips. i'm sure it will be ok though, APCs are very sturdy.

  15. got my PS size 29 on the mail today. I normally wear a size 31 in Nudies TLJ. These are really tight on my thigh and i can just buttoned it up :) man i have thunder thighssssss lol. and to clarify im a girl. Will these stretch at all?? Comment on fit pics please

mine started out pretty much this tight (i'm not a girl, which is why it was borderline embarrassing) and they have stretched out quite a bit. you should be fine. if you want an idea how much they stretch out i posted some fit pics after 3 months of wear on the last page (i think). they will look great.

on an unrelated note, it seems that your black PS are just as tight as mine are. a lot tighter than the indigos that were sized down 2. maybe they are cut a bit slimmer.

  16. would there be a discrepancy in the fit between the indigo PS and the black PS? compared to the fits i've seen on the last 2 pages mine were a lot slimmer all the way through. i only sized down 2 and they were embarrassingly tight when i first bought them. i was ashamed to come out of the fitting room. i'm a pretty slim guy so i can't see why mine were so much tighter.

  17. I wondered why the ps had a selvedge line but the nc didn't, makes a lot of sense now

my black PS don't have a selvedge line. i'm told this is common with black APCs.

  18. Jeepster, i was just thinking the same thing. haha i dont really understand the petit standard, i know they have a lower rise than new cures and a selvedge line but do they fit slimmer than new cures or are they a slimmer version of the new standard but not as slim as new cures? i just confused my self, P.S owners stand up and contribute....

i think the difference between the PS and the new cures is that the PS are a straight-leg while the new cures are tapered.
