Nice jeans all. I've had to make a last minute change with mine. Apparently the samurai 4000s were a little too small for comfort when sitting, so I have a pair of the 18oz slub Oni waiting for me at home. I'll be back there and get some pics up around the 3rd.

What is this BiG collab of which you speak?

Hopefully a quick question for those in the know about making jeans. I recently tried a pair that I was very excited about, but have found that the cut doesn't leave room for my anatomy when sitting. What dimension should I look to changing to remedy this? Longer rise? Looser thigh? Any input would be appreciated, and I figured, who better to ask than those that make clothing for themselves.

I salute you for the oni. Fantastic jeans. I miss the pair that I sold, but losing weight will do that.

The slimmest cut for samurai is the 003. I have had excellent results for sizing by buying a pair that measures just a little larger in the waist when raw than I need. It shrinks down and stretches to a perfect fit.

Button holes loosen pretty quickly. If you need help, try putting a pen through the hole and working it around in a circle.

The 510 is quite generous, so I'd guess you'll be fine.

Naked - where did you pick up the 24 ozers? They were a special edition in 2010 when I got my pair. Who still had them in stock? Great find.

I go to school in Montreal, so I had the pleasure of going to Tate and Yoko. There, I was just trying on jeans after jeans and the manager was very helpful and pulled jeans they had in the warehouse. Fortunately, they had a couple of pairs left and he even gave me a discount!

Well, I'm going Samurai, and definitely not mainstream with the 4000 cut (21oz). And I might as well post the pre- and post-soak pics...

Very happy I went with that style, just in my preferred colors (black with silver-tone). Can't wait to start getting these pre-order items. :-)

As for wearing non-BB jeans, I'll be wearing Samurai S4000VX 21oz.

Actually, the seams are generally fine nine months in. It's the material itself which has come apart, both where the cuff is folded (not entirely surprising) and in a couple of random spots which aren't under stress at all (middle of the shin, possible at the back of one thigh).

Falerbrand, very nice. I like the rough texture and how the fading shifts from above the honeycombs to below.

Craziness... I wonder how those will hold up. With my 24 ounce jeans, the fabric started to come apart in a couple of places where there wasn't even real wear. I have also never had jeans start to tear at the cuffs without them being long enough for me to step on. I should be getting them back from the tailor again on Monday.

Who has stuff they plan to carry every day with them for the whole competition? Wallet? Knife? Key Ring? Lighter? Something else? Lets hear about it.

I'm thinking of carrying a pocket watch with me. I have an Elgin from 1933 that needs some repair. If it will fit along with the new belt, and I can get it back in working order, I'm going carry it with me. With my current ALD belt, I cannot get into the coin pocket.

I had them hemmed before shipping, and I think the length came out just about perfect.

I know most are not keen on the boot cuts, but I'm happy to have a new pair of 4000vx 21oz ready for the heavy weight competition. Shipped from a Japanese store (2nd) to an American door in only 3 days. Most impressive.

I'm down for the belt as well. I'll also likely order the shirt. Any info on the 3/4 sleeve shirt?

Thanks for the advice, but I think I'll take my girlfriend's opinion over yours! In any case, I've been thinking about the Samurai 4000 for a while, which is closer to straight than a flared boot cut.

Upon further consideration, I think I'll have to back out. I've been feeling like heavier weights and boot cuts lately, and these don't really fit either bill. Good luck with getting this going though. I'll be sure to keep an eye on it.

I wouldn't mind getting in on this as well...
