  1. those trick bikes are crazy. i've seen some that have the seat coming out of the top tube instead as well.

    What's the purpose of that?

    thats so sick

Yeah! I'd love to have one. Those little pegs are really cool. Circus bikes are going to be the next big thing...

  2. I do too. I wish they weren't under the clearcoat. I'll get the frame powdercoated someday.

Getting your frame powdercoated is such an expensive process that you're better off (in my opinion) putting your money towards a better frame that doesn't come with decals, like a bareknuckle. Does anyone know of any other frames that come without logos/decals?

my custom GR-9 dust caps. fuck the gray plastic shits:

    BLING! (haha)

    Genius!

you can run longer clip screws on gr9s to make a slot for a 2nd strap

    Also genius.

  3. I ride a Bianchi, but I hate Pista's. Every hipster and their mom have a chrome pista. In general modern Bianchi isnt that impressive.

They serve their purpose well, a first bike. I got mine when I knew absolutely nothing about bikes, didn't want to spend that much money because I wasn't sure if I would get into it. I definitely did, and now looking to upgrade, but don't regret my purchase at all.

And we've already been over this, "hipsters" and their moms ride black IROs with white deep-Vs. What do you ride?

  4. Quickly getting back to the kind of people who deserve the evil stare; while waiting for the L train one time, I saw this guy (http://velospace.org/node/2984) carry his bike down to the subway! I was angry, there was nothing visibly wrong with his bike, and really doubt there was, the train took like half an hour to get there that day too, he could have been where he needed to be in half...

  5. i personally love aerospokes. but that shit is soooo heavy. i dunno how it would feel if i was riding double spokes. i think it would be a good work out. but every biker who sees you would kno your a hipster poser.

i actually want a front aerospoke, but i dont want the poser hipster stares.

The same can be said of the 1 out of 3 fixie riders I see in the city who all have black IROs and white deep-Vs...

But you're right, there really isn't any reason to get aerospokes other than for the looks. They look so fucking cool though:

  6. with brake right??

Don't have one now, and don't plan on getting one.

bigger cogs and chainrings provide less (and at that, more even) wear on your drive train. i ride 47/16, which works out pretty well. prime numbers are your friend.

You're saying the only issue with having a smaller cog and chainring is that it will wear out my drivetrain faster? Also, I don't see much reason to buy a new chain ring to drop just one, I'm already on 48/16, except for the prime number of course.

  7. It's a prime number. Since the number of skid spots is equal to the number of teeth on the cog divided by the GCF of the number of teeth on the cog and the chainring, you get the most possible skid spots if the number of teeth on cog and chainring are relatively prime. And since every number that's smaller than a prime is relatively prime to it, I can use any cog I want and not worry about having all my skidding happen in one place.

So, what ratio gives the most skid patches?

  8. if its chrome, just use jasco. the green ones are a little trickier.. you can use jasco but have to make sure it only eats thru the decal and clearcoat and not the paint.

even if you were to powder coat or repaint, the frame would have to be bead blasted to strip any material from the frame, ie paint/stickers/rust/etc.

I have the chrome one! Should I succeed, do I need to reapply a clear coat after?

  9. I don't know what they are, but shofolk make some similar looking styles - www.shofolk.com

Thanks for trying, but I'm def not looking for mocasin-type shoes. The shoes he's wearing are def sneakers, they look like Ellingtons (from the Emerica days) except dressier. I really like how the toe points up slightly...

His whole outfit is pretty fucking cool actually.

  10. Very nice, sounds like u having some fun. Any flat spots??

Yeah, too much fun! I feel like I'm going through tires on a daily basis. I got a Specialized Armadillo tire two days ago because I'm waiting on some Vittorias that I won on eBay, and it's already flat spotted, I really need to chill out on the whole skidding thing.

So I ordered a Brooks b-17 narrow from nashbar. It came two days ago and I wasn't home until now. Fedex site says delivered and "signature service not requested" . According to my neighbors there was a package under my door until yesterday morning. Looks like someone jacked my saddle. Fuck brooklyn, they probably would never know what to do with it anyway. I'm upset.

Definitely file a claim, FedEx is the worst, it's really stupid how they don't require a signature for home deliveries, especially in NY!

    And my bike:

  11. Following the trend, I blew my tire and tube yesterday as well! I was rather bummed but skidding on a tire that worn out was super fun, felt just like skidding in the rain...

  12. hmm, you think so? hadn't even occurred to me.

I have the exact same ones and I did. But mine came super long, they were always on floor unless I tied super huge knots which I'm not really into. Nice shoes though, really comfortable and the white sole and laces look really good when they start to get dirty.

  13. t* usually has them, but i ususally ebay them when i can find them half off. if t* is out, check nyc velo on 2nd @ 3rd.

never go to or support nyc bikes.

Thanks again, took me a little while to work out the whole T* thing but I got it! I got my pedals there, pretty cool guys. And I promise I will never go to NYC Bikes!

Also, how long can one continue to ride a flat spoted tire before you blow the tube? I can ride my bike all day, but I'm so lazy when it comes to going to stores, I've been meaning to buy a pump for months...
