  1. man that's nothin!

    you got lucky or something

my friend got hit today on his Bianchi Pista

he had little damage, but the bike was literally folded in half

and when I first ate shit on my apollo steel frame

shit crumpled like a tin can as well

Yeah I'm actually pretty lucky. It just pissed me off cuase I'd just gotten the tape put on but oh well. I still am wondering what kind of wheel I should get. I feel kinda silly when I think about an aerospoke on my bike. I consider it a beat around bike and find them to look pretty douchey most of the time, that is unless it's on a pista haha. Is it really that easy to get thrown over the bars from sprinting? Would gear ratio come into account?

  2. Hey does anyone here know of a helmet that considerably runs a little deeper than most other helmets? I ordered a catlike compact in size L and found it too shallow for my head. I am looking for a similar model.

  3. I mean he has a point. Certain track stands and shit are just so dinky looking, but then at the same time it's great to be able to dick around and not take it too seriously. Who wants it turning into the next flatland bmx at the x-games anyways? People should keep in mind why they bought the bikes in the first place, to go fast. Nothing will ever compare to spinning down a huge hill!

  4. were you ridin the motobecane or whatever?

shit probably crumbled like a tin can

    i feel your pain man

Yeah man that's me. I know the front wheel taco'd and I still haven't seen my bike. I can only hope that the fork didn't get fucked up. I'm sure being 6'5 doesn't help when sprinting either cause of the cg and all. I'd just lowered my stem and saddle for what I think was perfect fit for the bike. I could tell that the handling was harsher with the stem lower. I was just trying to really push myself on a sprint for the first time and whadaya know! over the bars I went! It's funny cuase the last thing I remember was thinking of the alleycat race videos I'd seen on youtube and how sprinting had forced one or two of the riders to go over the bars and eat total shit. The mom is freaking out she wants me to go back to single speed but I'm just thinking about a change in gear ratio so I can skid easier. If I remember correctly the guy at the shop told me i was riding 16/46? I'm still new to fg riding and all so..

  5. So i was sprinting yesterday and I lost control went over the bars hit my head and got a concussion, a fractured wrist, some serious road burn, a swelbow and a hipper. I taco'd my front wheel. the funny thing is I have a catlike compact on the way. What do you guys think of aerospokes, are they pure hype or are they actually worth it?

  6. Is there any way that I can tell what certain measurement or kind of stem will fit? When I went to the shop and asked for a stem the guy told me that the only stem he could find with that short of a body to be raised up was this one. I thought I'd need my stem to be raised higher when really I just needed the top tube length of it to be shorter so i could be closer to the bars.

    :/..................

I want a stem that will work well with riser bars just incase. Any reccomendations?

  7. salty road, that quill stem is beyond ugly...a nitto jaguar would be nice instead.

pretty much stock except for the continental back tire, the quil stem, and the mks clips. I had the bars flipped and chopped when i had the stem installed. I'm not the biggest fan of the stems aesthetic. What do you guys think? I was thinking that sometime in the future i'd try and get a cinelli stem and some riser bars, that is if i ever decide to go brakeless.

  9. dude, what's ur gear ratio? im assuming you are running a gear ratio of 3? that is the most common, as it is what i am running right now. i have this chart (forgot where i got it from) that shows gear inches and number of skidspots per gear ratio. if u simply run a 47t chainring, you will be golden, any cog u use, u will get atleast 11 skid patches.

Most likely, I haven't played with it yet or done the equation thing. I'll have to buy that chain ring. thx for the advice!

  10. I went into the shop today looking for a new stem (preferably a bmx style one.) Sadly the shop employee told me that the shortest stem he could find me in length that could be raised a bit looked like a hideous beach cruiser stem. I made an impulse buy and ordered it in hopes that he could understand a track bike aesthetic haha. Anyways I'm wondering if anyone on here has or has seen a Motobecane messenger with a bmx stem. I mean the guy told me that by changing my gear ratio I wouldn't be doing anything to help avoid the one skid patch on my tire...

    this is the bike

  11. Are gear ratios universal for all bikes? Or does it depend on the crank? I'm looking to create sever skid patches instead of just one so my gator skin doesn't pop so quickly? What should I do?

  12. I'm trying to shorten the length of my stem and raise the height, so my bars are closer and higher. Are bmx stems compatible or is that just silly? Recommendations anyone?

  13. Hang on here. You can barely touch the bars with your fingers when sat on the saddle. I'd say thats a surefire sign that either the top tube length is too much or the stem is too long. Obviously the stem length is the easiest part to swop out, so I'd start there. Could also pull the saddle forward. There's loads of scientific stuff on fit but I'd start with finding a comfortable position.

And I'd suggest getting a fit which isn't dangerous or wrecking your body is considerably more important than being able to do skids. But what do I know!? ;-)

When in the "french" style seating position my hands barely reach the bars, the bars seem a little to low and are too far from the saddle. how ever when crouched down it fits but it is not as comfortable as it should be. I feel like my legs are disproportionate to the rest of my body (legs being longer.) I feel like there should be more visibility and range for my neck to see ahead when in the suicides. I'll have to special order a stem or something. Any recommendations on brands?

  14. Have you tried playing with your seat angle? I know when the angle wasnt right for me I felt alot of pressure on my hands and I would feel fatigued in my arms. However, when I adjusted the seat angle it took alot of pressure off my pressure. Also, if you are feeling stretched, maybe look into pushing your seat forward or backwards. Another thing too would be stem length.

I'll have to try playing with the seat angle, and thank you!

  15. Ay! I got a question about the geo of my bike. I've been playing with raising and lowering the saddle because of hand pain (mostly in the knuckles, it feels like I'm getting arthritis). When I sit with my back erect with my arms straight forward i can barely grasp the bars with my fingers. Should I get a stem with a shorter body? My stem is raised as high as possible. The only problem I might have with that is skid stopping. When I don't have my hands in the suicides my bodies force kinda smooshes my hands in between the bars and my stomach when leaning to skid, is this something that can be avoided? Also I sometimes feel like my bum is hanging off of the end of the saddle too much. I'm 6'6 with a 36' inseam, and I ride a 64 cm frame. Is it possible that the top tube length is too short compared to the length of my femurs? When I raise the saddle my bum starts to hurt, when I lower it my knee caps start hurting.
