I'm pumped for On The Road, but also a little skeptical of the casting. The male leads look like good selections. Sam Riley does decent work and of course buscemi and mortensen are excellent, but the female leads worry me a bit...namely Stewart and Amy Adams. Will still definitely see it though.

Also, just started Inherent Vice by Pynchon. Accessible and excellent so far. Recently finished Power/Knowledge by Foucault.

Quite an interesting read. Provides a great overview for all of his theories instead of just focusing on one.

For the attack on Larsson, I suppose you are entitled to your opinions. Saying the novels read terribly is entirely subjective, I tend to think they read quite interestingly. Content wise, numerous discussions regarding character dynamics and whatnot can be drawn out for ages. As we all know, in academia it is about what the reader can take out of the novel, not what the writer wants you to take out of it. Discussion points are endless.

As for the attack on studying abroad and education, that is completely unnecessary. It sounds as though jealousy is the driving force behind that. However, I will inform Swarthmore College that you think their English department is poor, and also inform them on the negatives of studying abroad.

Saying that Larsson is bordering on terrible is another subjective comment. So "negging" someone who in fact likes his work or calling them out is perhaps the most pretentious act I could imagine. If you don't have any beneficial comments to contribute then please remove your hands from your keyboard.

Whether or not you agree with this, well me and my liberal arts education don't really care.

Get a better book club. I would never partake in group discussion of books written by Stieg Larsson, Dan Brown, or Stephanie Meyer.

Grouping Larsson with Dan Brown might be one of the worst comparisons I've seen. I would by all means read the Dragon Tattoo series. Scandinavia has always produced some of the most fascinating reads and this is certainly no exception. I would think about reading the novels before making such an uneducated comparison.

Nice book club imo dude. I'm taking a Swedish crime novels course next semester when I study abroad in Stockholm....and Larsson is the focus of the class.

To me, there is really no reason not to use a crutch. It simplifies the entire process and eliminates several possible annoyances. Easier to hold/pass, no closed ends, can smoke the entire thing without any trouble. Using a crutch actually sounds like something a noobie would not do in my opinion.

guys i need help, so ivelazing for like 4 years, but last night i picked up some bud, so i went home

and piped it, i put in like half of a regular nug, not much, kinda small actually, so i smoked it, after awhile i looked out my window and had the feeling i was in space, then i started seeing like shapes intergrated within like my desk and objects, so it was like shapes within shapes, so i was like fuck it ima go to sleep, so i turned of lights and thats when i started seeing shit, it was hard for me to go to my bed, then when i was lying down i was seeing lots of shit, like colors and orbs and shit, like my eyes were closed but i had feeling like they were open. now, ive never tried pcp or acid, so i dun know wut i was experiencing, was it possible that my weed was laced? so this morning i inspected my sack, on the edges near the closing part there is like white power, there was a sufficient amount of it, so i licked my finger and pressed some onto it, so i tasted it, but it was bitter as fuck, so o guys, is this shit laced with psychoactive shit or... but seriously, i was eeing some shit

same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. I bummed a joint off some dude at a concert that was really bitter and after I finished it, the dude said it had ketamine in it.
