corter, does the dye punch the holes for you or simply mark them for your awl?

Thanks dude- I usually like stuff like that too, but since I'm using it to water plants I had to strip it to clean the oil out of it. Plus, the old paint was terrible and chipped all over, so this prevents paint chips containing who-knows-what that the cats can eat I went with a repaint. Gonna letter it actually- just need to find time!
Ha! Nice find corter.

I use illustrator, print the pattern on a plotter machine and then carefully pencil to leather. I work at a copy shop and I'll print onto a cardstock for certain curves.

Here's a couple of pieces I had to make for my school portfolio:
Big bag
Bike wine carry
Essentially the big bag can be worn as a backpack, as a messenger bag, or with no straps. I have a blanket roll that I can fit inbetween the big bag and the small bag for some urban sherpa park life.

Been a while, checked the last couple of pages and didn't see this posted. This is as close to perfect a montage clip can get these days:

Love the idea Corter. Are you gonna add some beveled edges or details to it ? Your logo somewhere on there ?
I would really like to find someone here in Montreal that makes custom hardware. No luck so far.
If you find a place, let a brother know!

So essentially an awl is used to make the holes?

I have a question regarding leather awls.
Currently I'm hand punching each hole and then sewing it through. As far as I can tell with an awl, you still punch each hole, but you use the awl to create a lock stitch. Is this correct? For some reason I'm under the impression that you can also just mark the holes and then push the awl through forgoing the need to pre punch the holes.
If the latter is true, would you push the awl through all pieces of leather you are attempting to sew? I think I remember reading somewhere that the awl has a different shape as you move up the blade... this is surely true, and so I'm confused!
Lastly, is the speedy stitcher just a "brand name" awl? Will it get the job done for me? As a reference I'm using 4-5 oz leather.

I'm on the fence about buying a Gr1, but skeptical about the LCD breaking down.
I have the chance to purchase one locally for 200$, not sure if I need it though. I currently have an Olympus XA2, a Konica Auto S3, and an ME Super.
Ricoh Gr1 would just top my collection off as far as 35mm I think. poly800rock, what are your gripes about the ricoh gr1?
