  1. What's everyone's experience with the length?

I'm 5'8" and don't wanna cuff at all...gonna stack these. I know that they're gonna be hella long' date=' even after the hot soak. I've ordered a pair from BiG and asked them to be taken up to 34.25"

I'm leavin room for about 3 inches of shrinkage max...is this gonna be ok?[/quote']

My xx-005 measures 33.5" in the inseam and the look fine with stacking.

  2. This is true...I just have a hard time going simply by measurements. I like hearing peoples personal experiences' date=' it somehow eases my mind.[/quote']

I know, but be careful as their experiences can be misleading because the fit is dependent on one's body shape. :)

The PBJ XX-005 is a great pair of jeans and I've noticed people taking a closer look at them when I'm travelling around London.

    :)

  3. When choosing the waist size you need to remember it has a lower rise which means you may have to size up one or two. You also need to take into account the measurements in the thighs as they are slim cut. Rather than comparing sizes with brands such as Nudies it might be better to measure various parts of your body and then choosing the appropriate pair.

  4. DEFINITIVE SHRINKING OF ONI'S

    PRESOAK measurements on size 29

    387202206_f1c73a7cee.jpg

    waist (back of waist) 30"

    inseam 36.5"

    thigh: 11"

    rise: 11"

    hem 8.5"

    POST SOAK!

    387202309_7748c6f8f4.jpg

waist shrunk to 28", I stretched it out by using a hanger back to 29~30

    Length shrunk to around 34"

    hem shrunk to 8"

    5 hours HOT soak

hope this helps some people out with oni sizing in general. I sized down 1 from my normal SDA 103 size and nudie size.

In fact your post has been an inspiration for me.

Could you be a bit more specific in the measurements concerning the waist? I'm trying to work out whether it would be worth going two sizes down, from a 32 to a 30, and whether the waist would stretch sufficiently to 32 inches. Although I'm a 31 in Nudies I'm currently wearing a 32 in PBJ XX-005 which was tight at first around the thighs and waist and the AW Grifters, 33 waist, which seems to be fit me more loosely in the waist and thighs.

The Onis in size 30, measuring 12" in the thighs, would be me more fitted in the thigh area while a size 31, 12.25" in the thighs, would obviously leave a bit more space in the thigh but am concerned that the fit might be a tad loose.

Can anyone confirm that if I purchase from Japan whether the Onis will have the back pocket stitching and tab?

  5. When raw.

After washing they have a 36" inseam.

I'm 6'1" with long legs compared to my torso, and I would love a pair of jeans with 38" post shrinkage inseam.

Since all jeans stretches have you tried stretching your jeans while soaking them.

I think this thread is useful as I can find out which brands with unreasonable length inseams to boycot.

  6. Samurai's inseam is necessary if I ever wanted to cuff. Assuming Samurai shrinks to around a 36, that'd give me only about 1 inch of cuff room, and I'm 6'.

For me, anything less than 34 is annoying, 35 is optimal, and 36 I can deal with.

    Stop being so selfish :P

I can understand your precarious position since you're in the minority . But you are relying on the majority to compromise their fit and style in order to accommodate yours. So petty remarks such as 'stop being so selfish' is unlikely to win you support but also raises the question about who is actually being selfish in this situation. Especially when you have no case to present.

  7. I think one thing you don't understand is that when a manufacturer makes a shorter inseam they're NOT resizing every other aspect of the jean. They're merely cuttting off the bottom 2 to 3 inches.

It's seroiusly no different than if you took it to a tailor.

Keep in mind i'm talking about SMALL run Japanese manufacturers such as Iron Heart, Flat Head, etc... Not higher production larger companies, i'm not familiar with their process.

I've had jeans cut before and have never been happy with the results. With some retailers I guess they don't really care whether clothing actually fits properly as long as they make a sale. Usually I asked if they re willing to underwrite jeans if I'm not happy with the cut. Not surprising the answer is always no!

Im 5'8, take a 31 or 32 inseam, APC's, PBJ's Canes all look fine with a stack, but samurais are just too long, an extra 2 or 3 inches is A OK with most shoes and outfits but having 5 spare inches is too much, you will be fine with the majority of japanese made jeans.

Agreed, the five spare inches from Samurai is far too much even, I suspect, for most people..

  8. I can't belive that you guys are acting like your choices are limited due to too long inseams! You can always make them shorter.

If I'm paying $300 for denim then I don't want to

    • throw my money away if the cut in the inseams is not up to my standard
    • lose the taper and proportion

I wll not buy jeans with a longer inseam than 34 inches. It's as simple as that.

If manufacturers are producing one length jeans which are longer than 34 inches then I think they are not catering for the majority of their customers.

  9. speaking as someone who usually needs a 34 inseam and has yet to need to hem a pair of japanese jeans, I'm going to say I'm glad that doesnt happen. :)

I can get away with a 34 inseam but other brands such as Samurai, Flatheads and Skulls have longer inseams (36 inches plus).

  10. A lot of manufacturers do make different tagged inseam sizes, but that brings costs up for them and also puts pressure on the retailers (ending up with all 30" inseams is annoying and wastes money)

Yeah, I've heard that argument before. I've also seen retailers ended up with long inseams as well which I imagine is equally annoying as well as wasting money.

If these two thirds of people stopped buying jeans with long inseam length then eventually the manufacturers would bring out suitable length jeans as they need to cater for the bigger market. Unfortunately this means that the minority, people with need to have a longer length inseam, may not be catered for.

  11. One shop owner in London told me that over two thirds of his customers had their jeans cut. So I said to him why not cater for them by providing shorter length jeans. :D

As a rule I refuse to cut jeans as I think it destroys the proportions or tapers intended by the designer. Why can't the manufacturers provide jeans with different lengths? Then everyone will be happier.

  12. Hey Guys

Give 2000db some slack. He's doing us all a favour.

Personally in my dealings he was honest and straightforward with an emphasis in providing a good service. My PBJ xx-005 was delivered on 31 December in London and the shipping took just two days. Yes he did forgot about my order for about seven days but he is human after all. If I was doing his job I don't think I can provide a quality service like he has done. All those emails, trips to shops and post office needs to be taken into account.I think we should show our appreciation and admiration to him for providing us a link to hard to get Japanese denim and clothing.

Thanks for your hard work 2000db.
