  1. Update on RRL's i posted a couple posts up:

They were my first experiment with selvage jeans.

After about 3 months of owning the jeans, and wearing them everyday for the last 5 weeks. I starch them with heavy duty starch. Ride my mountain bike 30 mns everyday, whiskers forming in front, knee is fading.

    - soaked them inside out in hot boiling salty water overnight . Water turned yellow-ish

    - high spin cycle in washer

    - hung dry inside out

Came out softer. I like it that way.

I'll post the pics later on tonite.

  2. okay i was taking pics of my new old orange tabs and i was thinking, we should compile some of the info floating about the forums properly. cultpop has a good collection of vintage levi's too, as do a good number of other people. and there's paul t and serge and ringring and etc.

what i'm thinking is when you post info up try as much as possible to back it with pictures to demonstrate what you're saying. for example i had no idea what CMF meant for awhile by the "batwing" and "inside tag", i thought i should've been looking for another tag or something along the outseam.

    so to kick things off:

inner tag (back) on this note, i read on the 501xx site that levi's classified their jeans by A, S and F - does this have anything to do with the A on the back tag?

if the pics are in the way let me know and i'll replace them with links icon_smile.gif

BTW, i use the term "vintage" very loosely. i'm not even sure how old this pair is, i picked up just the other day. anyone who could venture an educated guess please do so!

Are those selvage? I saw about 5 pairs of those same 505's with same exact tags yesterday at a thrift store, i passed on them because they weren't selvage, so i figured they diidn't have much value. lol Im a noob to this.

  3. Re the crotch of the Imperials:I reckon it is definitely slightly oversized, but seems to look good actually. I think cult makes a good point, large crotch makes the jeans look slimmer.

Whodini - here are some photos of how the A-505s turned out after about 6 months wear 5 days a week, a couple of machine washes...the pics are pretty close to the actual colour of the jeans. Overall, I thought they faded well, except very little definition on the honey-combs at the back. But the overall fade in the denim is quite nice.

How did your's turn out? I haven't seen any photos of them for about 6 months.

 No belt loops? I always noticed it in the catalogs of LVCs but never really saw it in real life

So what does one do in case of jeans being loose?

  5. unless the stitching is loose, it's probably not a problem, just the same as down comming out of pilliows etc.

I have a down jacket and have had down come through the material

I think that maybe the problem, the stictching is still stiched in, but it feels loose, almost to the point where it feels like the jacket is losing its shape.

    Anyone knows more?

  6. I have this leather bomber filled with down.

The down inside is starting to come out thru the stichtings on the jacket (check pics), all over the damn jacket. its weird.

Anyone ever dealt with something similar?

Does something like this happen to the down filled Northfaces during their lifetimes?

    Let me know.

U can't really see from afar
