  1. the figures are supposed to be a direct rip of aitor throup, right?

Lol I thought someone might catch me out on those... yes. Not quite a 'direct rip'. I drew and painted the whole thing myself, changed the whole colour scheme and composition, so I'm not sure it could be considered 'rip'. Ah well I'm sure he won't mind that I found inspiration out of his insanely sweet concepts.

  2. i recently picked up a magazine called "man" here in kyoto. i'd say it's one of the better magazines i've seen in a while. anybody seen it or have an opinion on it? it's an oversized magazine and i believe it only comes out four times a year.

I think I know what you're referring to. I found this link, while googling for a picture of plastique magazine. It's got a few japanese fashion mags and some pretty cool articles and fashion pics . You might be lucky finding it in there, actually.

  3. the best non employee apple discount is:

    • buy the student developer kit for $99

    • use the one time 25% hardware discount

... ends up being ~20% off of a $2000 purchase

better than the student discount which is about 8-10% and most corporate discounts which are 4-8%. art schools don't have any special deals a normal school doesn't.

Thanks... this seems like a much better offer than the student discount... Lets just hope Apple doesn't discontinue this offer, because it would definitely help me save some of my prescious ca$$hh.

chim: Of all places, I found mine at Nordstrom Rack. Not your typical spot, but I'm not complaining for $30.

if you are in store and would like to use student discount, you must provide them with some documentation that you are currently attending school. This can be done by presenting a school ID with current stickers or showing them your schedule of classes, etc.

You are better off going to a university bookstores website and then going to the computer section. Most schools have deals with Dell and Apple and both companies offer discounts

Thanks Robz, I'll check on their website and see how the the discounts relate to UK customers/unis (I dunno is the process any different?). As for Zubin, I'm currently in me last year of sixth form (year 13) and will be attending University hopefully sometime in the autumn (august, september, october or november), so I thought I'd get myself a lap-top over the summer so I have one for Uni. Since I'm applying only to Art colleges (all under the Universities of the Arts London), perhaps they have some special agreements/discounts of their own with either apple (as people they are more design-focused) so I might be best to wait.

Either way, once I find the time (and exams are all out of the way) I'll do some research and find out what is the best option for me.

Thanks for the help fellers, I am likely to need it in the future.:D

  5. i remember buying a ipod at the apple store a couple of years ago and i asked about the student discount. They asked for my school id and driver license.

well I won't have a license before uni so I guess that puts discounts out of the equation... hmm.

  6. The following are languages I can speak and some I can barely get by:

    1. English
    2. German (not to boast, but received an overall A grade for GCSE German)
    3. Swedish (mothertongue when I was a little one)
    4. Norwegian (lived there for four years)
    5. French (studied for 2 years in junior school)
    6. Italian- basic "useful" phrases learnt from hotel leaflets while in Milan this summer
    7. Japanese (very limited- learned a few phrases off one of my mums old 'teach-yourself Japanese' book)

Languages I'd want to learn more thoroughly:

    1. German
    2. Italian
    3. Japanese

  7. Had a cool visitor at the store this morning:

    Vintage Jacket

    Stronghold Utility

-This is what he wore in...he also picked up a pair of our selvage hickory- Very nice guy

HOLY SHEET! At first glance I thought this was one of those tricks where people photoshop celebritites faces onto otheh people's bodies... It's so cool to see Mr JM himself in dressed so casually and not trying to disguise himself under hobo's clothes like many celebs tend to do these days.

    That's worth a rep for sure.:D
