  1. I bought a size 33 waist, which originally is 31.8 inches. After a week of wear, and even wearing it to sleep, it stretched to my true waist size of 33 inches, give or take. Iron Heart denim will stretch eventually, so even though you feel the pain now, over time it'll be worth it. ;)

  2. Man. Are the Flathead shirts really worth Mid $100s? This is just stupid. A good dress shirt is worth somewhere in the mid $100s, but houndstooths and plaids? Houndstooth I can understand. They're pretty unique and the cut looks fantastic, but plaids?

I'm not hating because I've really fallen for the CW45W model in Bears and Klax-On, but damn -_- so expensive. If I looked hard enough in sales I could probably find a Dior Homme shirt or something for that price. Damn. The pictures make the shirt look amazing.

and i know the picture (the one on the first page) was 7 months ago, but kiya nice quilted polkes. umm yeah. i hope they're polkes.

I will admit that the prices on the Flat Head shirts are ridiculous and granted these are just Western-style shirts. But having said that, Flat Head creates the best quality Western-style shirt I've ever seen. I've been wearing them for half a year now, and after multiple washes, my FH shirts stay rigid and hasn't lost shape, and the colors hasn't fade at all. I can't say the same for shirts from Levis or other brands. If I hadn't checked out the FH shirts when I visited Self Edge, I probably would've been much richer.

It really is all about preference. If you think $100+ for a Western shirt is crazy, then don't even sweat it, and look somewhere else. If you know of another brand with the same care and quality as the FH shirts, please let me know. :)

  3. I can't believe I plunked down $425 (plus good ol' Frisco tax) for this beauty. I guess in retrospect, I don't have to keep buying wallets every time they fall apart, since this FH wallet is very well made. The only knock on the FH is really the price; the KC,s wallets is nearly $100 cheaper, and come in different varieties. Nevertheless, this wallet is still attractive and should virtually last forever under "normal" circumstances.

gg Flat Head. gg Self Edge. :D

  4. Pre-SuFu:

    Levis 501 STFs (non-US made)

    Gap

    Old Navy

    Post-SuFu:

    Iron Heart 634-S

    Flat Head 5100XX Special Edition

Self Edge X Iron Heart BKs

Warhol Factory X Levi's white denim (yeah I know, but I love this pair when I wear darker tops)

and most recently, Somet Straight selvedge white denim

    Jeez... spent way too much...

EDIT: Oops, I also forgot my Levi's LVC 1947 501 selvedge

  5. skulls fit slimmer..

    somets got the flashy rivets..

Yeah, I did a side-by-side comparo on the size table, and the Somet size 32 is roughly the same size as the Skulls size 34, but the Skulls has a lower rise than the Somet.

In any case, I just ordered the Somet through BIG since they only have 1 size of each Somet white denim, and will pre-order the Skulls next week... maybe. :o

  6. good morning.

we introduce the super slim 5010XX -White Denim.

beautiful white denim by Zimbabwe cotton

gorgeous small button with die stamping.

aaditional bigger tag size 35 and 36!

white color leather patch with black drawing.

    selvage with red thread

    needlework with vintage method

    hidden rivet

    size 28-36

    one-wash only

Damn! The Skulls white denim is niiiiice. Now I have to choose between this and the Somet white denim. This is difficult to choose. >_<

  7. Here's the last three pairs of jeans that I've worn, in no particular order:

LVC 1947 Deadstock: Finally, a great pair of Levi's. Thank goodness it shrunk just enough to fit me nicely. I'm typically a size 33, but I listened to Levi's STF suggestions, and bought a size 36 instead. Next time, I'll size down for sure.

Flat Head 5100xx Special Edition: My second favorite pair, and one that I'll be wearing during the summer season. It's pretty snug from the waist to the knee, but a bit loose below the knee. I'll try the other models next time.

Self Edge X Iron Heart BK: My favorite so far. I never pictured myself wearing slim cut jeans before, but after hearing about the collaboration, I just couldn't wait to try them on. Excruciatingly tight in the beginning, but in a matter of days, it's the most comfortable pair of jeans I've ever worn.

  8. If Stockton didn't flop so much, I may have had a hard time rooting against the Jazz (or at least Stockton himself, don't care about Malone so much). But then you can't deny Jordan's passion to win; if Duncan has half the emotion Jordan have (and I mean, I wish Duncan could just scream out when he makes a dunk, something with passion) then at least the Spurs wouldn't be so boring to watch.

But that's the problem with some of the "all stars" in today's NBA, it's just business as usual.

  9. I really hope that this is not the last time we'll see exciting teams like the Warriors and the Suns. But one thing's for sure about this year's playoffs. If it is the Spurs vs. Pistons, or heck, even Spurs vs. Utah, I'll stop watching basketball for the rest of this season.

There's nothing more dull than robots playing basketball.

  10. I hope to God that the Suns wins the Western Conference. If not, well it's back to baseball. (and I also hope that this year's NBA finals will have the lowest ratings ever, even lower than 2003 and 2005.)

  11. I concur with everyone's sentiments. Despite my wallet has taken a beating ever since joining SuFu and stumbling upon local shops like Self Edge (not a plug, I really did stumble upon this store), I've never been more happier or satisfied with wearing well-made denim.

Believe you me, after visiting "designer" fashion stores such as Bloomingdales or Diesel, I couldn't figure out why denim cost so much. They're not particularly well made, nor did it feel any different from Gap Jeans. Then after having a taste of raw denim and the great cut and fit of these jeans, I'll never go back or even check out "designer" labels again.

I'm glad that stores like SE and BiG, and a denim forum in SuFu exist or else I'd never feel satisfied with the usual clothes I buy.

  12. I was at the Warriors game.

That is the loudest game I have ever been to in my life. Absolutely Madness.

Wow... the Mavs were absolutely raped in Game 3. Unbelievable. Overrated indeed.

  13. I'd be interested to see other people's results with sizing up one to see if they've acheived as much stretch as I have.

Yeah, mine's stretched quite a bit as well, about an inch and a half to two inches at most.

dudes please do not cuff (or hem) the SExIH's (or diors)...

Hehe, yeah I know the small leg opening of the SEXIH is not really meant for cuffing, but I like them worn cuffed. With that said, I rarely cuff the SEXIHs though.

  14. Finally, I took the time to take some photos of the SEXIHBKs.

I wear a size 33 with my Flat Head 5100s, but size 33 on the SEXIHs is really tight and it really shows in these photos. Even though it's very tight-fitting, the 21oz cotton is sublime.

If the photos are too big, let me know and I'll resize them quick.

  15. oh man.... these jeans are TIGHT. finely got all the buttons done. but it was tough. and they are tight as hell in the waist and thighs (after about 2 hours of wear). and damn these button holes are SMALL!!!! hahahaha... but i love them... now every day is the challenge on whether to wear these or my new full counts...

Believe you me, it'll loosen up, at least around the waist. I'm typically a 33-34 waist, but the 33 feels like a 32, maybe 31.5. But after 72 hours of continuous wear (yes, I actually wore them while sleeping), the waist on the jeans stretched to 33-33.5.

Now, as for the rest of measurements on the jeans, good luck. The thighs on the jeans hardly stretched at all. In due time, I hope it'll get loose... hopefully.

  16. The overdye version of the SEXIHOs are indeed excellent. I'm really glad I sized-down; I ordered for a size 34, but changed my mind and went for size 33 once I tried out the overdyes. It was a pain in the ass to button, but after one full day of use, buttoning became very easy. I'll be wearing these for quite a while.

Thanks again Kiya and the Self Edge staff!
