  1. Sondeks are the best goddamn tables in the world. Don't care what's "better" or more expensive or whatever, pound for pound those things have been untouchable for decades.

I've got a Project Expression III with carbon tonearm and Sumiko Bluepoint Evo II cartridge playing through a project Tube box II, Linn classik and Linn Katans. Great little 3 piece setup but leaves a lot to be desired.

yeh im lucky to have had a father who is in to hifi, so i grew up with all linn stuff. i upgraded his system for him on his 60th and took all his old equipment for myself :)

my current set up is a linn sondek with ethos arm and karma cartridge. kairn pre amp, lk100 x3 amps, karik cd and keilidh speakers.

  2. its weird i was only looking at my hifi stuff last night and today i happen to see this thread on here. i basically have two systems, one for mixing (technics) and another for pure hifi. here are a few pics of my hifi stuff (excuse the dust), most of which is at least 25 years old but still serves me just fine.

  3. thank you diamonds.

ok just had a quick look and i will try to work out what i need to do. is this for backing up to a pc or for storing data on a different server? thanks anyway

  4. i have a slightly different website question...

i am the admin on a site for a local soccer team, which is based on wordpress. a friend of ours set it all up and told us he would put it on his server as we didnt know what we were doing. the situation now is that we have fallen out with this guy and i am just worried he may pull the plug on our site should he feel strongly enough.

my wordpress skills are now such that i can maintain and look after what we already have but what i would liek to know, is it possible to transfer our site on to a different server? will we lose data? will we be able to keep the domain name?

    thanks for any help

  5. thats the point i was trying to make ke1. not that wrestling isnt the superior skil, just that the sport is evolving. if everyone can do everything, then something has to stand out for someone to win.

  6. wait, i didnt say it was the best skill to have. what i said was as people become adapt at wrestling, just as they did at ju jitsu, the fighters will nullify each other in those areas, then it will become striking which will play a greater role in fights.

gsp is a great wrestler and yet instead he chooses to pick people off in stand up. diaz will be something different for him as he can do both. maybe we will see a higher level of ground and pound from gsp in the next fight?

i also agree, judging criteria needs revising.

  7. just read all the bruce lee conversation, quite interesting. like ke1 says, pretty much every sport and its atheletes today have adapted and grown throughout the sports life time, however there are always exceptions. some people transend generations due to their high levels of talent or things they did which were advanced in their era.

the ufc has changed so much since its inception. gracie dominated because he was doing something noone else could counter. then every body learned what he did and something else became the must have skill. over recent years it has been wrestling but as people become more adapt it is the striking which is taking over once again. i mean, every good mma fighter worth his salt can wrestle or knows ju jitsu.

what bruce lee did with jkd was essentially a form of mma, taking the best parts of what was out there and creating a new style. also, jkd certainly isnt a sport like most mma techniques. after all wrestling will only get you so far if someone rips your eyes out and crushes your windpipe. i think it is pretty obvious bruce lee where he was would struggle against any modern ufc star, but so would gracie and that was only 15 years ago. however, a man who was as dedicated to growth in martial arts and adapting to new techniques would surely catch up pretty quickly, and after all, it was his striking he was famous for and that is in my opinion where we are currently headed.

ps. if tito stays healthy he may be more dangerous than people give him credit.

  8. seeing that episode reminds me of when i read that same scene all those years ago and it still makes me catch my breath.

i think when you see content like this in a book its what makes me so annoyed the author hasnt managed to give us more! am gonna dig out my books again.

  9. have read all the malazan books too.. i agree that series is far too epic and magical. also prob far too confusing for standard television format.

does show an example of an author who can write to a deadline though!

  10. tell me about it. the first three volumes came out every two years or so which is pretty reasonable considering how big and in depth they are, then the fourth book took five fucking years and this next one six! i mean, wtf?

all he ever says is that it took tolkien 20 years or something to finish his books. im sure tv will wait for him :)
