Chill out sir. I assure you that however helpful that enclycpedia was, it didn't contain specific details on soaking. The search function could use some work too.

  2. I'm pretty sure that the quality of the UK Levi's are much better, like the 511's on Oi Polli.

That being said I absolutely love the fit and they sell a nice unwashed version at South Coast Plaza, though it isn't anywhere as stiff as STFs.

If you care more about fades then 501s are better, but the 511 fit is awesome.

  3. Here's the strange selvage/non-selvage double line i was talking about....

The reason you would believe it was selvedge is because of the stiching over the seams, which I guess could be confused as selvedge due to it's likeness to the Cone Mills red line. The stiching was probably placed to reinforce the seams and make it flat.

Remember that selvedge is fabric with a nonfraying edge.

  4. I don't believe it's because they've been washed, but because they're made out of canvas. Shrinking mostly comes from unsafornized jeans which is a mark in vintage denim *notably Levi's and repros* therefore you shouldn't need to worry too much with modern jeans, unless stated.
