decided to get a road bike instead of driving to school everyday, since my school wants 650 bucks for parking. i was looking for a drop bar road bike that would be a comfortable commuter, but also good for long rides on weekends as i start to get into the sport. i tried out a scott speedster s50, and it seemed nice, but of course i got on the internet and began looking around and now have a bunch of bikes running through my mind. anyone recommend any of the following for one reason or another?

Specialized Allez triple or Allez triple elite.

Litespeed Vela

Giant OCR

Scott Speedster S40 or S50

This is my first road bike and Im a beginner, so if any of these are beyond my needs, it'd be great to know before my lbs convinces me otherwise. Thanks for any help.

Just got this from Blackbird this morning. Unfortunately, it is too small for me. It fits very slim for a L. Just looking for what I paid so I can get it in an XL. I can exchange it within 14 days, but figured I'd give someone here a chance to grab it first.

god, i detest these.

Around $1000 or more for short/slim trench (mainline) or the price of a small car for a technical trench (Prorsum).

but damn are those pieces amazing. the slim mainline is the best fitting trench ive ever seen. and some of the prosum are f'ing gorgeous.

they definitely run a little small. just picked up a pair of the suede chukkas in grey in a euro 45, i usually wear 44-45, and the are pretty tight. didnt really notice it until i walked a while in them. cost $270 at the nyc store. might throw em up in the supermarket if anyone is interested.

Oh, I forgot to mention that allegri (http://www.allegri.it/) has a nice slim fitting trench out but I can't find it online.

Saw this in Bloomingdales in SoHo the other day. Really nice, pretty slim fitting (definitely not dior slim), this one was khaki... but also $1000.

ive seen what i consider to be a lot of great shows in my life. this summer i saw hot chip, beirut, lcd soundsytem, arcade fire, among others. daft punk's show at keyspan last night was by far the best show of the summer and probably the best show ive ever been to. i had a shit eating grin on my face the whole time and.

FUCKING AMAZING!!! i wish i was going again tonight, and tomorrow, and the day after...

I didn't read this whole thread, but has anybody been to Sushi of Gari on the UES? I had omakase there and it was ridiculously good.

Definitely recommended, but I am not what you would call a Sushi conniseur.. also very expensive.
