  1. Call them what you will, nostalgic, classic, timeless, whatever, they are quite unwearable. The old ones, made in true English fashion, where frame rules the face, were brutal and painful, but they had IT. The new ones are cheap repros with nothing in common with the old bastard. They are neither Bausch&Lomb, nor Ray Ban...Just another piece of crap from Luxottica. The same way they ruined the beautiful Persol, they doing the Ray Ban in.

  2. The food in LA is horrid but shopping is outstanding. SF is the other way around - wankers dress like bums and spend all their $$$ on fancy chow and mortgages and as a result we have no descent shoe stores uphere. Sad.

  3. Yeah, it's really big over there. Korea too. But there are two lines: relatively inexpensive line of sunwear which you can find for around a $100, and the new Royal Optics, higher quality, hand-made acetate frames destined for prescription use. These will set you back $300-$350.

  4. read my sig asshole.^

costco is great to go to for frames and shit like that, it's not about the damn name on the glasses it's about how well they fit your face. .

Costco is great if you need a big jar of inedible olives, not eywear. When you grow up, you will understand.

  5. Less Than Human is really pretty nice. There are a few shops here in Singapore that stock them. But I ordered a pair of Kio Yamato instead. :)

Less Than Human is not just "pretty nice", it's hot! And the people behind it are very on top of it. The only thing that stops me from carrying this line is the fit. They won't fit white peeps.

If you like LTHuman, check out Spivvy and Propo Design.

  6. I did read what he wrote, and that is precisely why I replied the way I did. There are brand names, and then there are licensed products that have nothing to do with the brand and the image the brand embodies.

If you think that owning a pair of D&G shades or specs is equivalent of owning a Dolce and Gabbana suit, you're fooling yourself. Seen Dolce suits at Costco lately? How about shoes?

Ask yourself, what the hell is this product doing in a wholesale wearhouse next to the pile of size 18 ladies' supertrunks?... Makes you wanna wear it, doesn't it? Eyewear is the new parfume and if you want quality, you must look past the logos. They are there only to milk the simpletons.

  7. By the way, I've got real Piggysan scarfs as well, along with sevferal sets of strong undies and some other stuff. Beanies were cool but those were all gone the moment the temp hit 60F, and so were the old strong long sleeve shirts. But it's the sunglasses that compelled me to import it all. Andy sunnies are hotter than hot!!

And hey, I hope listing my blog and here is not gonna get me in trouble with locals and authorities.

  8. less than human, spivvy, tse tse, jam home made

all japanese labels, less than human is especially nice.

They are also not made to fit caucasian faces, watch out.

  9. Im going to be overseas for the new year and i want to have a magnum of decent champagne delivered to my family in colorado for the eve. Ive looked all over the net and cant find any sites that have magnum bottles....anybody have any suggestions>?

    thanks!

http://www.dandm.com/ By far the best supplier of Champs in US! Premier Cru in Emeryville CA has the stuff too, but they are not as hot on magnum format as D&M.

  10. Yes, Japan only. I have tried numerous times to contact V&R peeps in US and EU to see if we can carry their frames in our shop in SF, but to no avail. Does not look like they want it to hit US market at this time. I'd love to bring them, even directly. If anyone has connection with Japanese distributors, let me know.

  11. i know it sounds whitetrash

but costco is the best place to go for designer glasses

i went there for mine and i was like shit look at all of these

there was like whole racks of dolce and gabanna glasses and ralph lauren

i know they arent the super chic dior kind of designers but they still make some beautiful glasses

and because tis costco they are fucking cheap as hell

i got these d/g ones that were priced at 99, but at costco all glasses were 120 off so i basically got them for free, i just had to pay for the lenses

    pretty fucking worth it.

LOL !! I don't mean to sound rude, but that's just too much. Costco is good to stock on toilet and fax paper, but to shop there for your eyewear is just beyond ridiculous. It's your face, the first thing people see! Treat it nicely, don't saddle it with a cheap pair of frames. You know, some people can see the quality eyewear from a mile away.
