  1. It would go against popular opinion on this board, but if someone were to ask me what Dior denims to get first, the raws would be the last thing I'd tell them they should get. It's pointless buying Dior for the raws, like i keep saying - you buy Dior for their one of a kind treatments and detailing.

^^ Thanks for that, I share the sentiment.:)

  2. ^^hahah camelbaks?! i dont know if its that serious..

For those who want some all access passes.. (Thanks to the fine people at sony playstation) i may be able to sell u some (i normally sell my extras right there at the gates). I'll keep u posted.

Like I said, that's if you want to make it front row for the headline. Despite that, it still helps so you dont have to keep running back to the water stand every few hours.

  3. Ive never gone to the festival before but I think this might be the year. Any info from those with experience?

Ive gone and seen The Cure / Radiohead in '04 and NIN in '05. If you're planning to be in the crowd, I suggest you dress light and in light colors; shorts and a t-shirt, and have plenty of sun block. Most importantly, you're going to need to stay hydrated. For The Cure, I endured +10 hours under the blazing desert sun (temperatures in excess of 100deg F), with a bag full of water bottles. Throughout the day, people around me were fainting from dehydration and security had to pull'em out, while I was able to stay and make my way to the very front till they finally came out.

Dont take this advice lightly if you plan to hit front row for the headline, I put down +15 water bottles throughout the day, but perspired so much I never had to go to the bathroom once from it. Strongly suggest you buy a hydration pack and just fill it with ice so it'll gradually melt and you'll have cold water. I'm aware that the rules say they're not allowed, but took a chance with it in '05, and security let me in with it anyway.

Camelbaks do the trick. I got mine on ebay new for around $40, instead of paying the $120+ retail.

  4. I'm sorry, but these seem _ridiculous_ to me. Someone who's into these, please explain the appeal.

I realize it's out there, and to me, that's the point. In a sea of mundane looking denim, sometimes you want to stand out. It's as (if not, more so) ridiculous as say, paying $900 for a Neighborhood jacket that looks like $200 at most.

    To each his own.

  5. Christ, a million and one posts of people rocking grey tees, APCs and chucks go through SuFu every week. Cut the poor guy's head off like half the WAYWT posts and noone would have batted a fucking eyelid at that fit.

    quoted for truth.

  6. Heard that too. Supposedly, we're "Pacific Islanders". Of course, try telling them (us) that. It's an uphill battle.

Really detest that question. Was it like some pathetic attempt at exclusivity or something? Technically speaking, isnt Japan pacific islands and arent the Japanese pacific islanders as well? Continentally speaking, Filipinos ARE asians.

  7. miko lee ewwwww what kinda asian are you, thats white peoples tastes, next you're gonna say lucy liu is decent looking

    HAHAHAHAHA. Im sorry, but AHAHAHAHAHA.

    btw, supertrash for this thread

  8. Once the 2nd and 3rd generation Asian-Americans flood the country, we will see which direction the Asian culture is going.

If ever there was a question I wanted answered...

Once involved in an Asian American affiliated org. on campus, I used to mind feeling pushed to push "culture" in a very generic/traditionalist sense to others, especially since I felt a lot of resistance in doing so. I used to think that the Asian American assimilation into American culture was a positive thing, as it went hand in hand in adapting ourselves as immigrants in search for a "better" life. Now I'm not so sure. What do you guys think, is it evolution, or as Asian Americans, are we truly losing a sense of "self" ?

On the other end of the spectrum--

  9. My list:

    - Djarum Splash

    - Djarum Cherry

    - Djarum Original

    - Nat Sherman Black & Gold

    - Nat Sherman Touch of Mint

    - Marlboro cowboy killers (on occasion)

I prefer cloves. They taste and smell better and don't leave my mouth dry.

Usually smoke Djarum's. Used to be hung up on the Original, but now smoke the milder "Splash".

  10. i think the boot to binding is pretty key. it makes a big differnece to the response of the board.

paradigm_shift thats some top end gear right there. I ride ions too (05-06 season). I was chilling with some snowboard instructors (level 3 CASI certified freestyle coach), and there was some serious hatin on the new fast-tie boots. i personally love my ions. whats your take on the new lacing systems?

Wow what did they have to say about the Ions? I dont think I've ever read any negative review on the speed-lacing system. I love my Ions too, just pull to your desired tightness/fit, tuck'em in, and off you go, never have to readjust. I ultimately chose them over the Boa-system enabled boots because the 1st generations had problems with the lace-eyelets ripping off, and the laces themselves breaking. It seems that they've adressed those problems though, my friend just recently purchased the DC Judge boots and the eyelets are steel-reinforced, and the laces are made of steel fibers.

  11. curious...Is the board too large at time? ie getting on the train, or when your going down the street around people (compared to a skateboard). I was thinking of getting a skateboard, but this looks really interesting

The thing is, a lot of people are narrow-minded and/or misunderstand the definition and purpose of a longboard. Longboards are not defined by its actual length, but rather its wheelbase. Compared to a regular skateboard, a longboard's trucks sit further away from each other on the deck, giving the board more stability and allowing the rider to "bomb" a hill faster and more safely than a skateboard can. It's not to say that that's the only thing a longboard can do though. There are many applications for them, which is why decks will vary in length and construction.

So to answer your question, it would really depend on the type of longboard you're getting. A mini-longboard can run as short as 22'', (which is even shorter than the typical 31.25'' skateboard), and is easy cruise in, and would be more than able to navigate around people, in crowded streets even. Pool/Vert boards usually 28-34'', slalom boards (TS/GS series) around 30-36'' ,all around cruising-carving-bombing boards run 40-48'', and specialized downhill boards are in the +40" range and are usually made of heavier maple wood for stability.
