  1. yes as is the bifold wallet.

We have lots of new product to release, we're just waiting on a large order of leather from Horween.

Can you comment on how the bifold is going to be updated? I plan on ordering one soon and am curious in case I like the current one better.

  2. My fit comparison for both jeans is after they have been moderately worn for 2 years (due to formal work attire and jean rotation). Neither jean had been washed for 3-9 months at time of fit comparision and both are a size 30. Both the 0500 and 103's were bought in Tokyo in March 2007. For what its worth, the 0500 are lot 9 and SDA's have old arch's. Doubt they've changed the fit since then though.

  3. wow I didn't realize so many people had the 103 and S0500x combo. I have both in a size 30 and they're pretty much identical fit wise. The 103's might be slightly tighter in the lap/butt area. When I fold them in half and lay them on top of each other the 500's might be an extra millimeter or two wider from the butt crease to the knee, if that makes sense. That might explain the tighter feeling in the lap area, but it also might be cause I didn't line them up perfectly.

for what its worth I bought them both in March '07 in Tokyo. unfortunately I don't think there is enough wear to post since I wear slacks 5 days a week to work. and i'm too lazy to post.

  4. stacks of old arcs and tabs...

When I was in the Harajuku store last month they had a few old arch's left, mostly in smaller sizes. I didn't even know there was a SDA store in Harajuku but I ran into it while trying to find Burton. Thats what always happens when you're exploring the alleys of Harajuku. The store is at basement level but they have a sign at street level and you just walk down some outdoor stairs. Have pictures of the store but I'm too lazy to post them.

And thats some crazy wear in 3.5 months morse.

  5. Moral of the story for anyone planning on buying SDA's:

Buy SDA's for the Denim and Fit, not for the fade.

Pick up another pair in place of or in addition to if you want fading. I also picked up a pair of S0500 when I was in Japan for fading, but I've barely worn them in the last year, favoring the SDA's. Just got the S0500 hemmed so I'll be wearing them a bit more now.

  6. It's been 4 months of everyday wear and 2 soaks with my 103-XX and they show no love to me.

I tried to find some nice worn in pairs in this thread and there are almost none.

Please help me keep the faith...

At least I find the fit perfect.

I wouldn't hold your breath. If you're looking for (quick) wear, get some other jeans. I'm sure you love the the great fit and denim though. I've had my 003's (LHT, same cut) for a year and just getting some wear that is noticable from more than 3 feet away. Granted, I only wear them 1-3 days a week.

  7. Sugar Cane belt after 3 months. Nothing too exciting but for people that want to know...

Applied Obernauf's Oil twice and tanned in summer sun for an entire day or two. Only wear it 2 or 3 times a week.

Pictures taken with flash. The color is a darker orange/brown than in the pictures, but on-screen color really depends on your monitor and what angle you're looking at an LCD. The white area is from scratches. Plan on putting some Obernauf's Oil on it to blend in the color but been too lazy.

  8. When I was looking for Nudies a year ago I choose the DS. I actually first bought the GC w/o knowing and then returned them and found the DS. If I remember correctly the GC fades to a darker/yellower/dirtier color while the DS fades to a more white/lighter blue. This is because the DS have a whiter weft while the GC have a darker/yellower weft.

  9. Do you guys realize this thread is from November '05? That said, I just lost my iRiver Clix but I was very happy with it. FM, Video, pics, mp3s... I've had 2 iPods and the Clix and much prefered the Clix. Only caveat to the Clix is the storage space is smaller. Now I'm thinking about the Clix2 to replace the one I lost. On the other hand, I've only been listening to music while working out so I might just find a cheap/small one.

  10. Little late but for future reference, the PBJ map has East as up on the picture, North on the right side, etc. I was confused as all hell until I finally realized that. Who the hell makes map with east as up? Once you figure that out its not as hard to find. Bape kids and Bape cuts (or is it cafe?) are on the same street, so if you run into them, your in the right direction. Just keep on walking down the road and you'll see the wooden sign with the leaf.

In terms of the SuFu maps, they were priceless for me. I'm great with maps and directions so all I did was look at the map, find what stores are close to me, then use the map to guide me to the next place. Without the the SuFu maps, my trip last March wouldn't have been 1/10 as amazing. That said, if you only want maps, then you can use the free ones. If you want commentary about select locations, buy the Superguide. I paid for the guide but I mostly used the maps. I don't mind supporting the forum.

  11. Something should be said about the weather in SF. I lived in Portland during middle/high school, Santa Clara/San Jose for college, and have been in SF for a year now. SF weather is nothing like LA or most of the bay area. I wouldn't even call it "Californa weather". On the typial day this summer (and I think every summer) the fog/clouds cover the city until about noon after which the sun will be out until the afternoon or evening and then it gets cloudy/foggy again. I'd say that SF weather isn't much better than the weather in the NW except for that we don't get as much rain here, its just cloudy/foggy all the time. Atleast in the NW you get 3 straight months of summer sun. It also rarely gets above 70 or 75, except in September/October. This is however good for SuFu people who have to wear jeans and a light jacket all year round. Strictly speaking of weather, I'm thinking about moving to the east bay or peninsula so I can actually live in "California weather" instead of NW weather w/o the rain.

This does not speak anything of nightlife, culture, etc. because I've had a girlfriend the whole time I've lived here and she lives in San Jose.

  12. I don't know anything about the other brands but I chose Obenauf's because of all the recommendations here. However, I bought my belt and plan on buying a wallet and leather dress shoes in the near future. If I only had one leather item and didn't plan on buying others I probabably wouldn't have cared much and would have just gotten something from the local leather store. I definately wouldn't have paid $38 (combo special small incl. s/h) to take care of my $80 belt but since I plan on spending $400-500 on leather goods I don't mind spending ~10% of the price to keep the leather in good condition.

Just to let people know, I was able to substitute the Leather Cleaner in place of the LP. After my e-mails with them I dodn't think I need the LP since it is for "heavy duty protection against the elements" and I'll have the Oil to use instead. It actually took about 3 e-mails over a months time for them to respond to my request. Not sure if they didn't check their e-mail or what. You can also just do what they told me to do and write in the comments that you'd like to substitue the Cleaner for the LP.

  13. For those who like the colors of the slip-on's but want laces, you can easily use a seam ripper to take out the tongue stitching and put in fully functional laces. The tongue is attached at the bottom 3 eyeIets and also by an elastic band under the tongue. I picked up a seam ripper from Safeway for like $3 and it took 5-10 minutes.

  14. I wonder if those are pre-wash or post-wash measurements. I bought two shirts in Harajuku and I forgot to check if they were pre-shrunk. They're not, so now I'm afraid to wash them. Wish I had sized up.

  15. I agree with you on the whole "babying" issue (when to wash, how many washes, etc.). However, I choose my clothes because they are quality and I want to keep them nice. I wear the clothes as a computer engineer in the city (San Francisco) and don't try to pretend that I am some rustic cowboy.

I am also OCD when it comes to picking the "right" thing so I also wanted the "right" leather care product. I've seen other people ask similar questions and I wanted to let people know what I found out. Just trying to share the knowledge.

  16. I've been trying to figure out what the right Obenauf's product is for belts, wallets, shoes, etc. for the last week or so. I wasn't able to find a definative answer on SuFu so I asked the man himself. Instead of giving a summary of the answer I'll post the whole e-mail chain so its clear what I asked and what he replied (cleaned up with signatures and such removed):

    Original e-mail:

Hello. I just recently bought a very nice leather belt and I want

to take care of it as best I can. I don't know much about leather

but it is a thicker belt and seems like it is a natural leather

color (light tan/pink) with little prior treatment. I would like

to darken it and also soften it. I am not too concerned about

waterproof and such since it is a belt and won't be subject to

harsh conditions. Which Obenauf's leather product would you

    recommend?

    Robert@Obenauf's reply:

I'd recommend using our Leather Oil on it. It will darken and soften as

    it soaks in.

    My reply:

Thanks for the response Robert. What product would you use for quality leather dress shoes? Would the oil or the LP be better? From reading your site it seems like oil is to keep the leather moist and soft while LP is more for protection. Is this correct?

    His response:

I'd recommend the Leather Oil for the dress shoes. The LP is for heavy

duty protection against the elements and is better suited for hiking

    boots, work boots, etc.

    -------------------------------------

As you can see Robert was very helpful. I also asked him questions about shipping but didn't include it. Sounds like its ~$5 shipping for just the Oil, and ~$8 for their "Combination Special." If anyone in San Francisco wants to go in with me on an order let me know. I'll be placing an order soon.

*The belt I bought is the Sugar Cane Garrision belt in natural.

  17. I'm trying to get to the bottom of the Pecards/Obenauf's question. Assuming they are both good products, the main difference I see between them is that Pecards Leather Dressing is wax based while Obernauf's Leather Oil is liquid/oil based. What are the advantages/disadvantages of wax vs. oil? I am comparing these two products because they were the ones recommended by the respective companies for belts and leather dress shoes. They come out be the pretty much the same price with shipping.

I'm asking this more as a generic question to clarify for myself and others, but personally I plan on using it mainly for my Samurai Garrison belt and maybe down the road on nice leather dress shoes when I buy them. If anyone from San Francisco wants to order something with me let me know.

  18. Any recommendations on how to take care of the SC Garrison Belt? I got the nude/raw one and I'd like it a little darker and softer. I'm thinking about buying either Obernauf's or Pecards but I'm curious what people have to say. I know it will darken with age but its also very stiff and I'd like to soften it up. I bought it in March when I went to Japan and I still haven't warn it because I want to treat it first.
