2. I thought Robinho looked good last season in Real but great player? Did he even make it as one of the finalist in Euro players of the season this year? Sometimes in Real he can get them the goals and be a catalyst but remains to be seen whether he can do so with a supporting cast like SWP, Petrov, Ireland, Vasell and Elano.

"the long halloween" was written to follow up on the events after year one. it concerns the fall of the mob (carmine "the roman" falcone) and the rise of the freaks in gotham city. it also has a sequel "dark victory" which ties up harvey dents story.

the tone is quite different than year one however. if you liked year one and want more like it there is unfortunately very little that compares imo.

but i would lead you towards a series called "gotham central". it revolves around the gotham city police force and batman plays a very minor role, popping in from time to time. in relies heavily on the more realistic "crime drama" vibe that year one had and the art is very grounded. one of the better stories involves the joker getting captured on purpose on xmas eve after going on a sniping spree. it is collected in a trade called "soft targets" in which "the dark knight" film borrowed from heavily.

Chronologically, Year 2 was written shortly after Year one.

Long Halloween was done by Loeb much much later. The tone was also a bit different from Frank Miller's style. Recall Selina Kyle in Year one under Frank was a hooker (not unlike Elektra under Frank's writing. Hmm maybe Frank got a thing for whores?). So just got through watching Batman Returns ... interesting how the two stack up.

The lack of realism in Returns is just, well, unreal. It's hard to put Batman up against enemies which physically couldn't quite match up to him in a brawl and get away with it over ~2 hours. De Vito I'm looking at you.

Entertaining, and Pfeiffer is excellent in it (I think I like the casting for Alfred and Gordon alot too - Michael Caine is always too Michael Caine for my liking) but everything comes across very-Burton-esque if that makes any sense. For a story thats going to take place mainly at night his gothic drive seems fair enough but the 'kookiness' he adds just leads back towards something very very camp.
