  1. In Nola for 2 nights. It is a Tuesday night and Kermit at bullets sound cool but not sure if I want venture out far. Staying in generic Marriott in the quarter but will probably hang at mimis in marigny for a bit tonight. Any cool recommendations for tues and wed nights?

  2. Let me drop some knowledge, but with the caveat that you're going during a festival (which means more ppl, more/different things to do, more chaos...).

    Bar/music

Mimi's in the Marigny, about 20 blocks north of Canal in French Quarter is wonderful, away from the chaos of Bourbon st. The walk can be a little sketchy depending what route you take, but well worth it. It oozes the character of New Orleans with a younger crowd and with bands usually playing (excellent music, mind you) upstairs. Not bad tapas plates either. When I stumbled upstairs and discovered this lady named Sarah Quintana singing with a glass of whiskey in my hand, it was a perfect moment in my trip to NOLA.

The Spotted Cat on Frenchman is always playing great jazz. Just far enough away from Bourbon so less mayhem but it's a small space and can get packed.

Although I didn't see any when I was there, I'd imagine you can find crusty punks at Circle bar on a happening night.

    Food

Cochon Butcher or Cochon Restaurant south of Canal on Tchoupitoulas for food. Had a great meal here and huge selection of Bourbon if I remember correctly.

Iris for more upscale French influenced food.

Steak at Dickie Brennan's and the char grilled oysters at Acme were all good, but nothing too special -- it's on a busy street so it's definitely a tourist attraction with lines for Acme at any given time. Heard good things at Mother's for more home-cooked style southern food. Food in general, you'll find it more buttery rich and delicious, anywhere in nola.

  3. Gotta say that Myung Dong 1st Ave Soju Bar in Allston is the most entertaining place I've found in the Boston area so far.

I agree, it's entertaining. the kpop music videos blasting in background, shitty little chairs, tacky graffiti, and an eclectic mix of ppl (sometimes).

i enjoy the other side, bukowski's, deep ellum, and river gods. always great beer selection. u should venture out more dude if u thought md1 was the most entertaining.

  4. go to oishii boston if you're ballin

oishii in chestnut hill is great for sushi...but i havent been in years so i dont know if its the same or not.

oishii is okay. I wouldnt recommend.

o ya is top notch, a critically raved restaurant. mini size plates that amount to no more than 2-3 bites. you'll also have to drop at least $200 for a decent meal with drinks

  5. I'm gunna have to scope a few of these places out when I'm in Boston over the weekend. If I had to choose only one restaurant to go to. What would be best? I want the best of the best Boston eats.

best of the best of the best of the best

  6. u had trouble finding viet food? really? literally half of chinatown is viet food, and the better ones are in dorchester.

forgot the name of the burger place but its in harvard square, the burgers are named after celebs/famous ppl, it was pretty good, lots of strange toppings for the burgers. worth checking out.

windsor is the best for dimsum, its across from china pearl in chinatown. pretty small place so u will wait for a table.

shabu zen and kaze in chinatown is popular for hotpot.

and hit up oishii in chestnut hill if u want good sushi, place only seats like 20 or less, really small place.

bartley's. flat patties is pretty good too.

    i second:

parish cafe (sandwiches) [now two locations]

    and

flour bakery (homemade pop tarts and oreos, coookies, etc)

  7. I usually dont give homeless people anything, but this dude was looking real sad and asked me to help him out with some food, so I handed him the burger I was eating.

Tough times. Dude got a half eaten burger and I am still hungry.

I usually don't either. But once a homeless dude somehow talked me into going to an ATM and I gave him $40 bucks. He then prayed for me in the ATM area. Then another homeless man approached me near my hotel, so I bought him a sandwich from 7/11 b/c it wasn't fair to this new homeless guy. Chicago hustled me.

  8. Got there at 9am, still drunk. Everything was pretty much sold out except bunch of black oxfords, the scarves and hats. Few items kept appearing here and there on a rolling rack, so copped what I could. bad pictures but here it is..

Out of everything I got, blazer is best quality. 40R is a bit bigger on me, not sure if i'll sell or get it tailored

Cardigan feels nice, light and thin. nothing special

    5195675143_e0b35f16e5_z.jpg

Shoes are definitely cheap quality but not bad at $80

Blue overcoat is okay quality. I got the last one and it was missing couple of buttons and looked almost used (it mustve been passed on from person to person for a good bit). Fit is very nice (34R). No actual pics b/c buttons are being replaced and coat is being tailored. It's this one: 5165777296_3fc8b0e623_o.jpg

  9. when is the actual drop?

20th in the US. 23rd elsewhere.

I'll check out the Boston store. Hopefully, it's not so much on ppl's radar (at least for men's) around here compared to nyc, and I won't have to deal with a ridiculous crowd.

  10. This is well...meh. The windbreakers and the double breasted topcoat are the only standouts imo. Anyone know if this is going to be NYC LA only again?
