  1. the warp threads (ones that go vertically; ones that are indigo dyed) are on the inside as well so you'll still get a little crocking (blue rub off). it bothered me when i cuffed and i was obsessed with keeping my white vans white but now i just wear them cuff down until most of the indigo comes off on places where it contacts the shoe and then i won't have to worry about it. alternately, you could put tape around the inside circumference but that seems kind of obsessive but to each his own.

  2. i dunno if you already found a pair but i have 24" thighs (years of skateboarding, volleyball, bicycling and squats) and my pair of samuari s5000vx size 31 are pretty much perfect. they were a little bit snug at first but after like a week or 2 they stretched out to pretty much a perfect fit.

basically a straight leg though, i dunno how you feel about that.

on a side note, they fade incredibly fast. i was actually kind of bummed about that because their color is so awesome but the faded color isn't bad at all.

  3. i'm just curious. i have a pair of the current 501 (standard fair. one rinse, not stf) and they fit great. i was wondering how the 1947 fit in relation to those and what other jeans fit similarly to the modern 501. i hear so much about how baggy they're supposed to be but my thighs are big so the bagginess makes them a perfect trim fit.

  4. ...

so i guess the wearing process just comes with it, just like wrinkles, u get them as u age (but depending on how much and whether u take gd care of urself)

    ...

i'm only washing my face evern 6 months so i can get some nice wear. i gave it a cold soak this morning to get rid of the shrink.

  5. yeah, seriously. at first, because of the name, i thought it was just a guy making breakbeats (which isn't bad since that was what i was looking for when i found them) but then i listened to them and i was in awe. i just wish they would tour somewhere near me or i lived near where they toured.

  6. this is a little bit off the topic but has anybody noticed how much the stitching on the back of men's ae jeans looks basically like the edwin thing. i'm assuming it's the ae people that "borrowed" the edwin design because i don't think edwin would want to be associated with ae jeans.

  7. this reminds me of this trend they had like 6 years ago at my school (a "ghetto" school) where everybody wore these shiny jeans with shiny jackets. when i think about it now, they were all wearing raw denim (they all had warnings against crocking) and i really wish i got into that trend because i'd have some pretty interesting jeans to fade. they came in all kinds of shades, i even remember one had some sort of window pane pattern somehow weaved into it...man...

  8. helmut lang used to pay me to wear their jeans as i worked so that they'd get nice, natural wear.

that's not true but that sounds pretty nice...

really i'm a mechanical engineering student, i think i want to switch into someting else like actuarial or something.

  9. bed, do you have a picture of you wearing them? i'm really interested in how they fit. i saw a pair of julian red cali's and they really piqued my curiosity but they looked pretty skinny on the guy wearing them so i crossed them off my list of possible jeans. also, what does loose in the waist mean? is there a gap between your waist and the jeans or are they just comfortable?

  10. i have a sizing question but it's slightly different. i wear 32-33 in most jeans (i'm wearing levis 501 32/34, they were tight at first but they stretched out so they're comfortable but still look a little slim). the waist size isn't really what limits me though, i have 31ish inch waist but i have farily large thighs (24"). i was wondering whether i should go for the 31 or the 30. i'm leaning towards 30 because i like it when my jeans fit a little slim but i don't want them skintight after stretching; i'd prefer if they weren't skintight ever but i'm willing to sacrifice comfort and heterosexuality of reputation for a couple weeks to get some beautiful jeans.

so what do you guys think? oh yeah, i'm debating between the new standards and the straight jeans. i think i'd like the new standards more because i like the way they bunch up when i wear narrow shoes rather than dragging on the floor, is the difference between the two more of a taper thing or the whole leg?
