Got a reply from Kuniyoshi-san that he will be able to sign the pocketbags.

Wondering if anyone would be against having the pocketbags signed?  Presuming it isn't too much trouble for Kuniyoshi-san, could I throw out a proposal that he signs all the pocketbags? Might be easier than coordinating which pairs to sign and which pairs not to sign...

The 103's are an amazing pair if you look for a modern, tight but straight cut. The denim can be rewarding if you size right and have the patience to wait for the evo and the fades. The denim is solid and tighty woven - it does not stretch much nor does it forgive much.

    overall I would say it's not a "beginner's" jeans.

^ this.  I bought my SD103 maybe 10 years ago (with old arcs/tab) and they are still my favorite pair of jeans (I've purchased my fair share of denim since then).  I sized up 1 from a 31 to 32 and the fit was perfect for me.

  3. Usually we always annoucne when Denimio starts to offer a new brand.

I thought this time let's do it the other way around and annoucne when they stop carrying a brand :D

They stopped carrying Evisu (thanks to flash for pointing that out to me)

What the fuck? Does anyone know why? Especially considering that they had approximately five million Evisu models added over the last couple of months.

EDIT: I can still access the products over different tabs, it's just not listed under the brands anymore.

I ordered a pair of 2000 No 1 recently without issue.  If you go to the search box and look for Evisu, all the products are still there.

  4. ^^ For comparison, I picked up the 400R last month in size 32 raw.  Soak, machine wash, and 20-30 min in the dryer to get as much shrinkage out as possible.  I'm typically in the 31-32 waist range.  I likely could have gone with a 31 but I like the fit on the 32. The fit reminds me of a cross between the SD103 (rise) and the old 45RPM Sorahiko (rest of the fit).  Denim is pretty terrific.  I wouldn't call it slubby but there are lots of striations.  If the fit works for you, I highly recommend a pair.   Oh, and Lee at UES is a pleasure to deal with.  I've gotten a couple button down shirts and a t-shirt from them as well.  Will definitely purchase again (especially if the Yen weakens more).

Measurements in CM (Before / After)

    Waist: 42.5 / 40

    Front Rise: 26.5 / 25

    Back Rise: 35 / 34

    Thigh: 31 / 30

    Knee 25 / 24

    Leg Opening: 23 / 21.5

    Length: 79.5 / 76.5

  5. ^  i also buy direct from japan too since i live in asia.  but i also see great value buying from outside japan (from Faith in taiwan for my specific case).

i'm not gonna knock what SE and BIG do b/c they provide distribution to an english language market.  what selfedge (and BIG on a smaller scale) offers is excellent English language service from knowledgeable staff, a number of US based locations, and the ability to return items that don't fit.  they also have to eat import duties and deal with fluctuating exchange rates so their cost basis is already higher than Japan.  they offer value-added services so if price isn't your only concern, you might be better off going with them.  i think an upcharge from JP retail prices is reasonable for what they do.  but for those of us who know exactly what we want, what size we want, and can quickly navigate rakuten, we might not go with SE or BIG b/c the value isn't there for us.

    different strokes for different folks.
