  1. I just got my 7010XX 19 oz from BIG size 31 but they are far too small in the waist, the measurements say the waist is 33" but it is actually 31" so gotta return them.

The denim is awesome though, can't wait to get the right size and wear 'em hard.

  2. Tigger -Thats where I got mine from. I was also planning to stack them, but they'd look much better with less leg length.

Also, the hem on skulls is quite thin compared with other jeans, which might make it less, or possibly not noticeable.

Cameland -Could you elaborate on those techniques please?

    Thanks

How quickly did you get them, did you get charged for customs clearance?

  3. So after my 5010 6x6 havent shrunk in leg length, I have decided to ge them hemmed up to a 34" leg (currently 37).

How much difference will it make to the way the hem wears, and the roping effect if I get them hemmed, rather than chainstitched?

-I dont want to pay to ship them from the UK to the USA to get them chainstitched.

I'm sure Gem_Art posted a while back with 6x6's and said he had them hemmed (not chainstitched) -If you're still around, how are your hems looking now?

Thanks in advance for any helpful responses.

IMO normal hemming doesn't work, I have had it done on LVC and it just doesn't look right, not as good as chainstitching. I just ordered the 5010XX 6x6 Raw from Own magazine and expecting to just stack them. BTW I am also in the UK and no-one here does chainstitching.

  4. If you don't soak STF jeans, all your fading/creasing will be in weird places once you finally wash them. Soaking is mandatory for jeans that aren't sanforized, unless you never plan on washing them (drycleaning, etc.). If you LOVE the fit of any STF jeans wen you try them on raw, they're too small.

With regard to the length, you should have accounted for loss when buying them, or at least the person who sold them to you should have warned you. The thighs will stretch back out, as will the waist if you give it time.

Thanks gimme, I have been wearing STF jeans for years and depending on the fit I choose to wash some and not others. They all vary, even in the same model. I have a pair of SDA 103 that I don't wash and another pair that needed to be washed to STF.It's a risk you take when buying by mail but I'm ok with that.:) I am happy to keep the PBJ raw but I do take your point about the wear pattern. As said previously an option is the wear them in the bath method.

  5. You're gonna soak them though, right?

Well, I have read and re-read this thread several times and found that there are quite widely varying views on the fit and shrinkage with these.

I bought a 32 based on BIG's size chart but mine came up a little smaller than I expected, the waist only 33", but I knew they were slim in the legs.

My dilemma is whether to risk a brief cold soak and how much I will lose off the length as they fit ok with stacking.

The waist has stretched a bit but I couldn't risk losing much if any off the thighs.

I expect some would say return them and size up but I love them as they are and couldn't be bothered to do that.

  6. Turn them inside out, wet a cloth, put it on the crease and hot iron just along the crease with the point of the iron, taking care not to have any other folds in the leg which would create more unwanted creases. The steam will remove the crease as much as is possible, there ain't much else you can do IMHO.

  7. Studio D'Artisan are changing the stitching pattern on the rear pockets, one of the first brands to move away from the Levis law suit. As a result....

I will be distributing SDA throughout the UK and Europe, the first delivery arrives in october to a few select stores in the UK and a very special online e-tailer. More news will follow, but I felt you guys shouldd be first to know this exciting news. If you would like any pre orders of 103's (incl black denim model), 203's (same tyle but 14oz denim) 101's, 201's (same style but 14 oz) DO-1's contact me at [email protected] and I'll make it happen.

Hey Lewis, any idea which stores will be stocking these in the UK?

  8. No-ones mentioned Timberland (brand not cool?)Chelsea boots, i've got several pairs and they are so comfortable.

Also, Clarks desert boots. The ones now available seem to be much inferior to those I remember from years ago and a much slimmer toe shape.

  9. Interesting point about the Clapton connection. When I was in American Classics last year the guy there said that a 'rock star' had asked Levis to re-introduce the 1955's to the LVC collection cos he wanted some and allegedly put up money for them to be ordered so he could get some.

My first thoughts were Clapton cos I know he's a Levis nut.

  10. Good to see a Levis/LVC thread running. I can see both sides of the Levis v Japanese repro argument, my SDA 103 are one of my favourite jeans.

Been wearing Levis for many years, currently breaking in a pair of 1947.

I've got several pairs of LVC for sale, mostly size 36 and 38, BNWT. Pm me if you're interested.

I agree about Cinch, the old staff were better informed.

  11. Anyone? I'm gonna order a pair of SD-103's and hear they come in at around a 35" inseam. I'd like to try them on first before getting them hemmed hense I'm not getting it done in Japan before getting them delivered.

I'm in the UK and have not found anywhere to chainstitch. I also recently got the SDA 103 and they are superb, best jeans I've ever had. Really heavy 15oz denim. I got my usual size 32 and they fit raw: I thought the legs would be too long but they soon creased up and the length is fine. Obviously depends on your leg length and whether you want to wash them, I just love mine rigid.

  12. I found the worst thing for knee bunching was wearing wet denim just washed. Did this with a pair of LVC 1955s and it took ages to straighten them out, so wearing in the bath is fine but watch out for the knee bends. ;) ;)

  13. Hi all, another newb here, but have been lurking for a while. Been a Levis wearer for many years and a fan of the LVC range. However the sizing issues with the 47s and 55s length have rather spoiled it recently. The staff in Cinch are incredibly patient in dealing with these size problems, just imagine trying to explain all this to customers who are not familiar with the 'shrink to fit' concept either. Anyway I agree with Will, the SC 1947 is the best 'Levi' repro that I've found, just got a pair and they are perfect in fit and quality.:)
