  1. Did I miss something? The SS08 bags are being produced with Eastpack, if you look at the closeup runway pics you can see the eastpack logo on the bags.

Where'd you get that they are going to be cheaper?

You didn't miss anything. My bad - I misread the article, and thought RS will be collaborating with Eastpak in another project in addition to the accessories collaboration the two had in ss08 show.

  2. Raf Simons Teams Up With Eastpak for Accessories

    By ALESSANDRA ILARI

    Oct. 23, 2007

MILAN — Raf Simons has hopped on the co-branding wagon.

The Belgian designer, in fact, has joined forces with Eastpak to develop a line of accessories under the Raf Simons Eastpak name. It will be infused with Simons’ staple accoutrements such as cuts and quirky details.

Eastpak has become a household name with a cult global following thanks to trendy yet sturdy backpacks in cotton Cordura. Simons and Eastpak first teamed up for the spring 2008 runway show, which led to a more solid union.

The project, which lasts for two seasons starting with fall/winter 2008-09, comprises of knapsacks, duffel bags and small accessories developed by Simons that will be carried in the designer’s 110 salespoints worldwide, plus select Eastpak doors.

  3. Has anyone been to the Marc by Marc Jacobs store and seen if they have the colorful jeans posted under "special items" with the matching blazer? Any input on the fit? Prices? Quality?

Also, pics for the Marc Resort 2007 are up...some cool stuff that I want to see in stores. Intrigued by the shoe/sneaker/boots(?). And also S/S 2008 is up. Essentially basics punctuated with flourescent colors; but I guess this should go up in superfashion for discussion or something

  4. i had left over ribeye from a bbq party on sunday. the most rancid disgusting food i've had since living in honolulu is some blended liquid taro. it's called poi. it's the starch of hawaiians. it tastes so terrible. it's dull purple and shit. it's texture reminds me of diarrea.there's also this ancient drink that the indigenious hawaiian sdrank. i can't remember the name, but when you drink it you whole face gets numb. you get a mild buzz. you can't feel your lips. i heard it used to be made out of saliva for the hawaiian kings etc. me an some buddies drank it. we kept slapping each other hella hard in the face, but shit didn't hurt at all.

hawaii's food is like ghetto okinawan food.

there was a okinawan cultural festival i went to. they had pig feet soup which was pretty good. do you like pig's feet? i like the pig's feet in germany. the ones they serve at fairs/carnivals.

kava bar in waik! tastes bad but that numb feeling is interesting.

  5. wait wait wait wait....oblivious to whats happening around him?

    is your name PIMPARCROMBIE?

Yeah. When he's on stage trying (terribly hard) to spell "jaundice" or whatever, and everyone's laughing, he also smiles and sort of laughs, as if to go along with the joke, but I doubt he realizes that he's the butt of the joke--hence, oblivious to the laughter/set up. The combination of him looking confused and oblivious, and also everyone laughing at the expense of his confusion just makes me feel guilty. I've worked with children with disabilities, and if he does indeed have some medical condition, I just can't get myself to laugh. But that's just me.

Nope, that's not what it stands for.

  6. Have we still not gotten past the fact that there might be some people out there spending more money on clothes for reasons other than 'exclusivity?'

I don't disagree with you that there are those who buy clothes because it's well-made or it's aesthetically pleasing or because they would be naked if they didn't, etc. Sure. But if we're talking about high end, high priced clothing, to some degree, most of us are buying said pricey items so we can somehow distinguish ourselves from others, and whether it's knowing that you own a beautiful jacket or feeling smug because you've just purchased a limited edition Patek is not the point.

That said, I can see how some may feel great knowing they've just purchased a well-made, beautiful leather jacket etc, but the moment you plop down one thousand dollars on a jacket, or any luxury item, you've just shown that you are willing to pay much more than the typical american man would on a jacket. In other words, you are still buying an item whose price and limited supply excludes most people from buying it, which is what I meant by buying exclusivity. The item's expensive, but you are willing to pay money to buy that particular jacket. Thus, you've just spent dollars in exchange for exclusivity, whether you've realized it or not, whether you care or not.

In any case, consumers don't set prices; designers, stores, brands, etc ultimately do. There will always be a demand out there, e.g. someone will want to buy that sheer thong or ten thousand dollar wallet, and as long as humans continue to show demand for anything--and we will--suppliers can and will set the price on it, and interested person will purchase it.

Bottom line: you determine whether or not it's worth it.

    Okay enough.

  7. got this buttero boots yesterday...

    butteroboots.jpg

    butt1.jpg

color is dark grey...very distressed looking...fine soft leather...you can play with these boots...you can put the flaps inside your jeans...or let the flaps rolled down...you can also do different styles with the straps...

Saw this at SF Bloomingdales today but it just looked weird on me: altogether too long and boat-like. Good deal though...

  8. buttero3ya5.jpg

Egh, so jealous--exactly the pair I want so badly. They're currently $117 down from $375(?) at SF Bloomingdales right now, possibly more with some coupon?, but they don't have my size 10--fuckers! They only have 11/12 right now. Only ones left in the U.S...:(
