  1. So my dad has this old leather motorcycle jacket that I took from him, needs to be conditioned and treated because it's stiff and dry, but the biggest problem is that there are creases in the sleeves from being on a hanger for so long. And ideas on how to get them out? i already tried laying them out and stacking a ton of books on them for 2 weeks, and it did nothing. I read you can iron it with a damp towel and then a dry towel over it. Any suggestions?

Sorry for the not so great pictures, camera sucks. A bit too tight to zip, in the last picture you can see the creases in the sleeves.

  2. I agree about the Eaton's Centre, and most of Yonge St. being the touristy crap. I think UrbanOutfitters is pretty nice though since the renovation. The last time I was there though the men's selection was slim to none. I'm really enjoying Queen St. west of Spadina though, since I go to Rotate This and Suspect all the time.

  3. I've never heard any of my friends in Toronto say they go to NYC to shop... Anyway I know I'm late on this but Bloor St., the Eaton's Centre, Yonge St. north of Dundas, and Queen St. West are all excellent places to shop.

  4. ahhh i knew i knew it been plaugeing me since last night the model here is nike meadow it was re released in varying cws in uk last year so i would assume that could be the case for that cw but i cannot garentee that.

YES thank you so much! Those are the exact ones. You are a genius. :)

Now I just have to find a nice colour and buy them.

  5. Nike Blue Ribbon Sports.

I think you're right but I can't find any information on the shoes online or on other store websites. I'm sure these particularly ones aren't from the 80's because they were just bought last year. Thanks for the ID.

  6. those look like a pair of bruin lows..im not too sure about that though

I think you might be right but they are really hard to find online that aren't vintage. Apparently these shoes were bought recently at a sports store that is far away from me :(.

  7. I don't know why we're talking about iPods and music now, I thought this was about a laptop for graphic design...

I suggest you get a Macbook. Since you already have a desktop PC you'll have the best of both worlds, and with Bootcamp you can install Windows on your Macbook anyway if need be.

I use my PowerBook G4 for graphic design and video editing and it has been a wonderful experience. Sure I could do it all on a PC as well but Mac OS X in general feels a lot more responsive to me. As long as you get a decent amount of ram you'll be more than set for school.

As for viruses on OS X, there are currently none, there was one exploit a long time ago which let you disguise a filetype as another filetype however Apple has quickly fixed that problem. Obviously the reason OS X doesn't get as many viruses is because it's not anywhere near as mainstream as Windows. Why bother making a virus that'll affect 5% of computers? Furthermore, being built over a UNIX subsystem, any system level access requires a root password, which Windows doesn't seem to require.

A Macbook will be perfect for what you need, there are tons of places to get software, including open-source software. However since you're in graphic design Adobe CS might be a bit slow since Adobe won't be bringing out their Universal version until sometime 2007. With 1GB or more of ram I imagine you'd be fine though.

Furthermore the "Macs are sooo expensive" argument is bullshit now as prices are extremely close and what you're getting with a Mac in terms of software is an amazing value. You get the built-in iSight camera/microphone, iLife software for photos, music, video, DVD, making music, websites, and Front Row + remote for a home media player, you're getting a lot of amazing stuff for the price you pay. If you compare the Macs do a similar spec'd machine from another company you'll find it's fairly close.

Also the form factor and design quality of Macs have always been superb, I'm not saying they are better or worse than any other company, but they shouldn't break down quickly. My old iMac has been in perfect shape for over 5 years and this PowerBook has been perfect for nearly 3. The one thing I'd suggest you get is Applecare, which is Apple's warranty service, it's more than worth it in case anything does go wrong.

One more thing, go to an Apple store or reseller and just try them out if you haven't before.

  8. The difference is size. If I'm not mistaken the Wayfarer I is bigger than the Wayfarer II which is bigger than the "new" wayfarer. Each pair should list the width and I think the bigger ones are 54mm. Mine are the new wayfarer's which are 51mm. I don't think there's a huge difference since mine seem pretty big. It all depends on the size of your face.

    Here's a silly picture...
