  1. I recently picked up an HTC One S Us-Tmobile version and although i actually dig the phone, the reception and data connectivity on this thing sucks so bad (for me at least)

reading through the pages, I've noticed some of you guys have had similar issues and others haven't. I'm thinking of swapping it out for a GSII which would be my only option if i wanted an even exchange.

Right now the phone is completely stock and I'm wondering if its worth swapping out or if theres an rom that will fix connectivity issues with this thing or if i should just try another one s and see if that helps?

I really don't know what my problem with it was, sometime it would work fine for a while, but then I would have really shitty data connectivity for several days with phone jumping between H and 3G in areas I know have excellent HSDPA coverage. it was also strange as sometimes it at least felt like switching between software could help, for example I couldn't access facebook or download e-mail, but could access websites with the browser. rebooting usually helped for a little while. I resetted the phone several times but still had problems.

What I do know is that the N4 works like a charm, no connection issues whatsoever. I have 4 bars on H at home, where the one S would jump between networks.

  2. have had the N4 for a week now, seems excellent so far.

battery life seems decent to me, I charge it at night and for example now at 1:30am I have 50% with average use throughout the day. Usually its between 30-50% after a full day. about the same as on my HTC One S.

build quality feels great, my One S was chipping paint after a week, this one looks brand new. the glass seems very tough. I want to get something like a gelaskin for the back though, it can be a bit slippery if your hands are dry as the surface is like 90% glass.

Jellybean seems to have some nice features, for example the more complex notifications, gesture typing works incredibly and unexpectedly well. The camera is cool as well with the controls all available by pushing anywhere on the screen. photo editing is also pretty next level, lots of features, effects etc.

    overall very impressed.

  3. I had very few problems with mw3 after the initials quirks. parties, game joining etc all worked fine. never found support that problematic either, then again I played a lot of dropzone in the past months which eliminates streaks anyway...

Seems like there have been (not surprisingly) plenty of issues with BO2, some of my friends aren't currently able to join games at all without actually re-registering. I haven't had any problems with this though. More popular game modes like domination work like shit with terrible lag, so I've been playing a lot of merc moshpit which has worked much better imo. Finally started to get a hang of the maps and pulled a couple of 40-10 or so games .

  4. what don't you like about MW3, the 60fps? better graphics? hit detection? well thought out spawn points? ha i'm seeing shit on twitter already from Treyarch explaining problems with lag and connection on the PS3, typical.

I learned to like mw3 quite a bit, especially after I started playing other game modes like dropzone.

  5. after a couple of hours...:

    - crazy lag in some heavily played game modes

    - graphics look like shit after being used to MW - is it just me or is it blurry as hell? I can't make out characters from the background

    - renewing/changing the names of every perk, weapon and streak is annoying...

    - RC-XD is still here - are you fucking kidding me?

  6. you running stock or are those consistent across all roms?

    stock

first issue was losing data/3g altogether, sometimes needed several restarts before it started working. factory reset helped for a while, but soon I got it again. went over APN settings several times, in the end picking up a new sim card seemed to have helped for a while. but now after the latest update I got this new issue with 3g/hsdpa fluctuation, which seems to come and go. I'll have to try a factory reset...

  7. well, firstly, apparently I have some "sunday" version and the finish scrapes of insanely easily. I had it in my jeans pocket without anything else for two weeks, and every corner had chips coming off. my friend has the same black one, and after several months his still looks like new.

otherwise, just issues with data connectivity, keeps losing it, especially with the latest os update after which it seemingly jumps between 3g and HSDPA, the icon in the status bar blinks back and forth, and the data connection is poor, can't connect to e-mail or facebook but browser works.. restarting fixes it for a while, but then the same thing again. will have to factory reset again but its getting a bit annoying.

that said, my friend doesn't have any of these problems, so maybe mine is just fucked up. I got it second hand so there isn't much to do about it.
