  1. So awhile ago I got my girlfriend a pair of SExSC02s. I ended up getting the wrong size (I got her natural waist, but since the SExSCs sit so low, they're way too small). We didn't really think about it when we got them, so we did a warm soak and she tried them on. That's when we figured out the sizing issue. The girlfriend was determined to wear them, though I knew it was fruitless. Fast forward a few months and hours in the gym later, the girlfriend knows it's a lost cause. (She's crazy, she had no weight to lose in the first place, hip bones don't go anywhere.)

So seeing as how it's few months from purchase, and they've been through a warm soak, it's clearly unreturnable (unless Kiya takes some pity on me and let's me send them to him for like a discount on another pair of jeans or something [ahem, PLEASE kiya :D ]). I put them up on supermarket and some other places for sale (didn't try ebay because I'm lazy about that sort of thing), but no dice since they are tiny (26s I'm pretty sure, but I don't remember since I put them out of my mind awhile back).

So sufu, what should I do with them? It seems like SUCH a waste of great denim to use them as patch/repair fabric (not that I have anything to patch or repair, nor will I in the foreseeable future). Should I just put them under glass and display them as a work of high quality craftsmanship? Thanks!

  2. Overall, I enjoyed it. I thought the flashbacks were a decent way of establishing back story while breaking up large segments of the film (that were necessary to set the tone and Smith's present state of mind).

I guess my biggest gripe was with the overuse of CG. I think practical effects and makeup could have made a much scarier un-dead, zombie, vampire-ma-jig (at least up close). Every time one of those vampy-things screamed and the jaw opened unnaturally wide it bugged me.

I agree with the over use of CGI. I thought the movie was going to be amazing but I was wrong.

However, I do think it was a good movie and I did enjoy it...I just thought it was going to be better than it was.

fwiw, they actually went back and redid the zombies in post with CGI since the director felt the practical effects weren't enough...

i've not read the book, but i thought it was a good enough movie. after reading a little about the plot points of the book the movie left out, i'm going to get a copy of the book and read it over christmas... but i never compare books and movies, it's just not worthwhile...

didn't see it in imax, so missed the 6 min dark knight trailer, but the standard theatre trailer was great. (mixed on iron man)

  3. I had heard that the compound they use to make Nalgenes has adverse effects to it (sterility or cancer or somesuch...)

anybody know if there's any truth to that or is that just some bull from a chain email my mom sent me?

also, this thread is surprisingly hilarious

that story went around a few months back. i'm not sure how much veracity it has. but in the cases where the chemicals leeched into the water, it was from heated sources. so don't leave your nalgene out in the sun all day in hot weather. don't toss it in the dish washer with hot water. don't microwave it... shit like that

  4. The smaller sizes are insanely small in the rise. If anyone gets these measure around the top of her hips, not her true waist.

The buttons may not be a lost cause... they're just insanely tough in the first place and the holes take some serious wearing in.

THAT was my mistake! Oh the buttons are no joke to start. Even buttoning them when dry and not being worn, it was work to get them in. But we're at least a size off on them. Even considering stretching post soak. So for sale they are! Come on fellas, get them for your lady. They are hot on the women. Or ladies, get them for yourself, they are hot on you!

  5. I'm not a big fan of big flare, even on women, but that is a nice fit. Kudos to you and your girlfriend. Haha, once I get the right size, I'll post some fit pics of my lady in her SExSCs

  6. sorry dude, no fit pics. we didn't take any because they didn't fit. she could get them all the way up, but we figured the buttons were a lost cause. suffice it to say, and this is just one man's opinion, i thought they looked fantastic on her. these were tight in the thigh (though will be less so once sized up) and slim from the knee down. it was a good look and a nice change from skinny tapered for women.

  7. Dude, my SEXSC took off the skin on the back of my left knee after the first two days. It might have been a bad idea to wear the pants straight through sleep for those first two days after arrival, though. That was a freakin' experience.. Gladly, it's healed just fine. Makes me wonder if I'll get a nice callus for breaking in future pairs, especially Iron Hearts.

IH's so soft man. Well let me qualify, I only have the SExIH01BKs, so maybe it's different with stock IH or even the SExIH01s, but the BKs weren't stiff at all. Very heavy (obv), but very soft. Won't be able to get fit pic of the the GF in her SExSCs til the end of the week probably, haha, and def none of her leaning over some handrail like JF! haha.

Those are my girlfriend's on the left side standing post soak. She'll be putting them on today. I'll get some fit pics hopefully. I'm a bit nervous. Her first raw denim experience was KMW Rockers, and those aren't as stiff, initially rough as the SC denim. But she'll deal with it, they should soften up pretty quickly if she wears them enough.
