  1. yea am deciding at the moment between a pair of dh 19cms and 17.5 slp's

either better/really different than the other?

The SLP's are slimmer and less "gimmicky" (I.e no super long inseams, hidden buttons etc..). The quality seems top notch to me (they're all MIJ, even the non selvage models).

  2. i noticed that there's a separate section at the end of most of the runway songs (like reflection, votc, beck) which was played when hedi sent the models out again usually in one uniform look. i know that some of the shows had different music at the end and i was wondering if anyone here knew some of the tracks.

from what i know ss07 was just one of the members of littl'ans just banging a tambourine, these grey days had a violin, and at the end of navigate "car trouble" by adam and the ants (which i have if anyones interested) was played. any further info on other seasons would be greatly appreciated.

The final outro to Red/Boys Don't Cry!

  3. Because it's a drastic step away from the sort of look that Helmut Lang espoused. It's not horrendous on purely qualitative terms, but as an interpretation of the Lang aesthetic, it's an almost total failure.

I don't think that was their goal though, as just continuing the line right where it left off or reinterpreting his old ideas probably wouldn't work at all. This got nothing to do with HL, except that it's very contemporary like HL was in his prime.. I'm not sure how well the line is performing but I see they've been picked up by several new stores for the fall.

I quite like a lot the pieces here (I've actually always found the lookbooks pretty strong for this line) but I've been somewhat underwhelmed with the pieces IRL. The stretch shirts for instance aren't cut nearly as slim as I'd hope.. A lot of the pieces require more of a muscular build to pull off, surprisingly.

  4. It's weird because I suddenly feel like because KVA used Justice

in his show, the collection is somehow better.

But then I remember how much KVA sucks.

& how much Justice (kinda) sucks.

    R.I.P. Dior.

    Hedi, please return to fashion.

What's with this general Justice dissing of late? It's exactly like Daft Punk ca. 2001 where people dissed them left and right since the general consensus was that that type of music was over, but now half a decade later they're treated like GODS from the same hipster crowd. If Justice did an original soundtrack for this show I sure know I would love to get my hands on it. As far as I'm concerned they still don't have a bad production under their belt.

  5. do you usually take 44 in CP or is that you first pair?

I'm asking if the sizing as changes between the achilles and this model.

I actually just got mine today (exact same pair as Gabriel, same size and everything), and I'd say they're sized similar to my other three CPs. Definitely not any smaller.

  6. and as artificialsky stated, it perhaps would have been more interesting if he did Chanel menswear....though i'm somewhat glad he is not, as i would expect it to be insanely priced lol

Yeah I'm sure this new line will be dirt cheap! :o

  7. can somebody please reassure me that i've bought the correct size CPs and that 42 would have been too small???

just copped black patent hi's in 43, and whilst they fit alright, there is a good cm of room at the toe and the heel isn't quite snug. having said that, the fit is quite secure through the body (as you know, they are slim shoes), with laces done tight.

i'm typically US10 in chucks (also 9.5, but fit is snug), US10.5 in vans slipons, 10.5 in non-sb dunks, etc.

should I return for the 42's or will they be too small?

(i'm beginning to think a 42.5 would have fit me spot on...)

    thanks guys.

If there's a cm of space at the toe, then they're the correct size. If you go down a size your toe would touch the toebox and the body would feel too constricting. Even though some people wear shoes so tight that they stretch out at the toe, I doubt patent leather is supple enough for that not to be painful...

FWIW I'm a 11/45 in chucks and a 44 in CP (most people that have both size down one from chucks.)

  8. ^ a lot of my Margiela pieces have Riri zippers on them, some have quite a few on the same piece.

All of my MMM sneakers are made in Italy as well. I think they're made in the same factory as Lanvin, Common Projects, Balenciaga, maybe Bottega, Givenchy, etc.....

Well, I guess the quality is a bit all over the place with Margiela as well then:) My most expensive piece is the '05 biker, which has MRS zippers (I believe they switched zipper makers on this piece around 2004 iirc). I also have some zip sweaters etc all with disappointing trims for the price. It's good to know that they use Riris on some stuff though. Over the years I've found the zipper to be a pretty decent indication of the overall quality of the garment, in that if they skimp on the trims for a piece, they are more inclined do so on construction and fabric qualities as well.

  9. The MMM quality is what you should expect at that price point. Its much better than most other brands such as Prada. There are brands that are better in quality such as Jil Sander or most of Marc Jacobs (yes this is one of the best made products for designer clothing) at similar price points.

Also Diesel quality is actually pretty good. They might not be respected on this forum. Their cuts, branding, and washing might not be liked but that does not mean their quality sucks. Also, one should note that Diesel is not applying the same manufacturing to MMM goods as they do to their own denim. The quality of MMM has not gone down. Many who happen to know a good deal about clothing construction would say that the quality on pieces has either stayed the same or gone up. Not down.

There I do not think that quality to price ration is unquestionable. You can buy Jil Sander if you want something better made. I like Jil a lot, but its not Margiela.

It seems to me that MMM doesn't quite go all the way in the quality department as they use relatively cheap zippers on truly top $$$ items (from brands like MRS & 'Feder Y Ca', all priced below that of Lampo & RIRI and commonly used by, say, Costume National) and even the signature leather jackets are lined in 100% cotton. A lot of the basics just look and feel a bit too basic at times so I can definitely understand why people question the price/quality ratio.

Comparing MMM to Prada is tricky because Prada is truly all over the place when it comes to quality, some items can be total crap whereas others can be very good (I find MMM more 'even' in this regard), and the brands also are very different in their use of materials. Prada tends to use lots of expensive man made materials in unconventional ways, they use stretch fabrics a whole lot, but also cashmeres, silks, mohair et al for the 'tailored' mainline items. For the basics, MMM works a lot with cottons and wools but applies interesting textures, finishes and dying techniques, although the main focus is on the cutting I'd say. Playing with materials is integral to Margiela's work (the 0 10 line features recycled flea market finds for instance) but the end result and general aesthetic is very different to that of Prada (although that gradient shirt does in fact look very Prada)..

MMM items seem perfectly durable, although I have a pair of army sneakers that were produced in Romania where a few stitches loosened up on the exact same spot on both shoes, but I have some other Italian made shoes which are of higher quality. I like the brand myself, but in general I must say I find his women's wear more interesting than the men's stuff.

  10. I really like CP Company stuff. I have an alpaca wool zip sweater that I've worn a lot for several winters now and it's still holding up nicely. I'm normally a medium and it's a size 2. I'd say that most of their stuff is definitely cut more generously than a lot of the other Italian brands. If you're between sizes, you might want the lower size.

  11. I recently picked up a pair of Kohzo jeans at Yoox, but they're too tight for me so I thought I'd pass along a good deal to a fellow SF'er. The texture is nothing short of incredible, and it better be with a retail of around $750! (the original Yoox price was $470). They're waxed and from the "cotton line". The denim is really soft and nice, and made with hand picked Zimbabwean cotton woven on narrow-width shuttle looms and dyed with 100% vintage indigo (as per the pamphlet that come with the jeans).. They fit slim as I'm a 30 in the APC New Standard and a 31 in both the 5EPxSF & the 19CM MIJ Diors. These will probably work best if you're a 30, or a 31 in slim low rise jeans (I couldn't button the top button and the thighs were even slimmer than the Diors).

I'd like $200 shipped for these.

    Thanks!

  12. Just got the white high tops from revolve and they look and fit perfectly, really amazing shoes, but there's some stiff boning material inside the left side of the left shoe that really hurts on my ancles.. Anyone else noticed this on theirs?

  13. thank you.

9 usually equals 42 and 41 are snug on you. so this implies that they run true to size (at least for smaller cp).

Shoe sizing in general is pretty whack since all brands run a little bit different, but I believe that a US9 is usually closer to a 43 (just check with chucks, Adidas, Nike or any other brand that has all the sizes listed in the shoe). I'm a 45-US11 in chucks, and a 46 2/3-US12 in Adidas, and take a 44 in CP. They run a size bigger than chucks and two sizes bigger than Adidas, at least in this big size bracket.
