  2. For the bacon ice cream, i would say make your creme anglaise and in a seperate pan cook the bacon to your desired doneness, and then dry the bacon with paper towel. And while the bacon and anglaise are still hot mix them together and let them infuse for an hour or so, then strain out the bacon and then add to the ice cream machine.

But on second thought, the creme anglaise is usually made up of yolks+sugar and hot milk or cream. You could render a bunch of bacon fat and mix that into the yolks and sugar and emulsify them together then add the hot milk. Damn I wish I had an ice cream maker, cause I want to experiment. At my work we make a cinnamon bun ice cream. Which tastes like actual cinnamon buns, I'm amazed how we get the dough flavour in the ice cream.

i recommend letting the bacon infuse, dont dry on a towel because you want the flavor in the fat. using just the fat, you wont get enough bacon flavor. one of our popular desserts is bread pudding w/ bacon creme anglaise

  3. herp, i think taisho's got the atmosphere. but if you want good yakitori (real sumiyaki stuff) then i'd recommend totto in midtown.

not that i've eaten everywhere, but the best yakitori i've had in the states so far is in dallas of all places. a place called teppo.

in addition to totto i recommend torys (owned by same restaurant group) and tori shin (1st ave btwn 64th and 65th). i had only known about totto and torys but a reporter who interviewed me from the nikkei recommended it. top notch.

Has some indigo stains on the outside and a little dirt on the inside. Leather is still very buttery and supple with no imperfections.

Asking for $70 shipped in the US. International PM me for shipping rates

  5. Now, none of you may be impressed by UW, so I'll drop the knowledge that I got accepted to Columbia when I was younger, using the same technique. Columbia was technically easier to get into, since they have Columbia College, which is the alternative path into that place. I recommend it for anyone that is a bit older and has had an intense experience growing up, because they love diversity in that program. Basically, you get the same degree as everyone else, but you're in a different program for the first year or two.

I believe you're referring to General Studies, not Columbia College. Columbia College is the liberal arts part of Columbia while General Studies is for older people who have taken time off since high school.

  6. Air Train does not take you to Penn St. It just hooks you up with the A train (which you can take through BK all the way into Manhattan). If you're not in a rush and don't have deep pockets, this is the best option.

If you're in a rush, just suck it up and take a cab.

the air train also connects to jamaica queens, where you can take the lirr to penn station. faster than taking the a train, but a bit more expensive.
