  1. unreleased Tyler swag. acapella at the end is bananas

    Jl_SF-yD0_8

hodgy is the best hypeman ever. definitely puts the "hype" in mellowhype

how the motherfucking shit can tyler have unreleased material? he doesnt even have a record out. there arent even CDRs of his material or promotional 12"s for radio outlets. his entire catalog is tweeted and mediafired. how does a youtube video constitute unrealeased material if its the exact same means as all his other shit is disseminated?

and no. flava flav is the greatest hype man ever, followed by the entire population of staten island who show up to every wu-affiliated show and crowd the headliners off the stage.

also, fuck this micro-niche internet rap world that thinks it means something. i can get behind like 0.000017% of the tracks i hear, but alot of dumbass kids are hailing guys with no clout or staying power as the GOAT.

in 6 months, another crew of unknowns will rush the internet with hilarious memes and you will have forgotten about oddfuture and lil b. not because they arent talented, which they may be, but because you never invested anything in them other than downloading their overly prolific digital output and appropriating their slang for messageboard use.

it cant just be me getting old, this shit just doesnt make any sense.

how the fuck is XXL making a year end mixtape list? thats like doing a top 10 demo tape list. what i really want ot know is which 50 rappers wore the coolest hats this year. c'mon XXL, be the beacon of authentic street journalism that you claim to be and school heads on how to keep they domes crispy.

  2. im just finishing an expensive education and im pretty surprised with how good it ended up being. i only bought it because i thought twelve sounded like too much of a BEE knock off but i wanted to see if McDonnel actually had any chops, since hes probly the next young novelist to get hailed as a spokeman for my genereation. and it was 4.99 for a hardcover. after this im finishing amis' second plane because i need a break from fiction.

i also picked up the big hit, its about hip hop as a business and the guy who wrote it seems like a pretty credible dude to take the subject on. its pretty fucking big, i might have to run it parellel with some light fiction.

  3. Much respect. I love Pynchon, but his books are always work and pleasure. I have an accompanying guide to this book (of about the same size as the book itself) that I plan to read concurrently so I don't miss all those obscure references. Good luck with it!

whered you find that? i keep putting off GR until im emotionally equipped to commit to it.

  4. Blu – SLNGBNGrs!

    off his new mixtape NoYork

meh. this is too hard on a madlib disrupted video game beat tip, blu cant really save it. i liked that vid of him rapping over that band in portland. did the labum leak or is it actually out yet?

  5. out of town.

sean: i feel ya, brah. if fido hadnt thrown me the iphone 4 on the cuff, id probably have reverted back to smoke signals. cell phone companies are a notch below child molestors in my eyes, right next to cab drivers and halifamous. the worst!

  6. i dont think ye's album is boring at all. im hoping hes plateauing stylistically here because i like his content more now than ever. i liked 808s alot once i got over the change of direction and now hes kind of mixing in that style with his more commercial radio-rap anthem style. i like that hes now equally cocky and vulnerable, instead of keeping those sides mutually exclusive. im all for sensitive thug rap, its probably my favorite music to listen to in terms of lyrical content. and kanyes been showing signs of brilliance in that department since late registration but went a little to far into whiny lil bitch territory for a minute. now hes equal parts swag and self-deprecation. its a fine balance. plus having q tip and rza beats with raekwon guest shots is never a bad look. im even looking forward to kudi's album after doing a total 180 on his record, too.

  7. hahahaha. copywrite. i thought he dissapeared after talking mad shit, then getting knocked the fuck out at scribble by icon. what a precisous moment in nerd rap history that was.

i could write an entire thesis on kanyes new album, but i wont. ill just leave it at - this is his best album so far, and hes almost as good as he thinks he is. im really glad he got his shit together for this one.
