  1. i think the important thing to point out is which AA hoodie are we talking about: california fleece or flex fleece? cal fleece hoodies are a much better quality than flex fleece and hold up very well through repeated wearings/washings/dryings. cal fleece is thicker and you can also get them with thermal lining. flex fleece hoodies are quite different. the material is shite and pills easily. for me to say that is no understatement 'cause i wear things gently and not all the time. haven't washed mine yet so i can't comment on that aspect. flex fleece however come in better colors and in stripes too. they have a much nicer chrome'ish zipper as opposted to the monotone painted zipper of the former.

stylewise, i'd say AA does it for me. there's something a little too bulky or p.e. looking about the h&m's.

if your looking at it with budget in mind, then h&m is your best bet. basically 2 h&m's for the price of one AA. i own a couple and wear them for kicking it and running errands.

  2. i'm asian, about 5/11", around 160 lbs. and have had 514's and 511's. of the two, the 511's definitely fit my shape better, and though they're skinny jeans, they don't look like leggings or anywhere near that. 514's fit like crap, at least for me. and if your like me and don't have much tush, the rear of 514's look really bad. even with wash/dry shrinkage, they stretch right back out 'cause of the material, a cheap cotton/lycra blend. i like the 511's alot. my actual waist size is somewhere between 31-32, and with 511's i size down to 30 and have even gone down to 29. if you can get to a uniqlo, they have excellent fitting slim/straight jeans for about $40 us. great jeans for slim asians with no asses designed and made by asians.

  3. i haven't kept up with 4hero for a while, but dego and marc mac will always get my utmost respect. btw, they do way more then just d&b. in the last few years they've been innovating in many genres such as broken beat/nu jazz, soul, hip-hop, electro and techno. anyone here remember their really old breakbeat techno stuff like mr. kirks nightmare? ahhhh, good times...

  6. google like everyone else. I would search for more info on brand names, whatever bullshit I was into a couple years ago, PDC, diesel, g-star, etc., and of course, SF popped up and has stayed in my life since. i lurk most of the time, hence the semi-bored status. I've always wanted to post on WDYWT but keep putting it off. i guess i will one day when a camera lands in my hand and i happen to be standing in front of a mirror and wearing something i really like and the lightings just, oh so right...

  7. Barney's is opening in the spot where FAO used to be (corner of Geary & Stockton). Walked by last week and saw the Barney's coming soon sign outside of it.

There's also ROLO SOMA on Howard, half a block down from ROLO Garage (corner of 9th & Howard). http://www.rolo.com.

Other SF spots to check out Carl, American Rag on Van Ness Ave., Villains Vault on Haight and for the bargains, Loehman's downtown and Jeremy's South Park.

  8. has anyone actually seen it, examined it, tried it on? Already know the price is steep for gap. just curious cause I was suprised by it as when i first saw the above mentioned bomber. no doubt everyone + their moms will be rocking it soon, but maybe not because of the high price?

  9. I agree, can't stand the detailed versions of the 514's + 511's. Super cheap! I've got the almost blacks with bold contrasting stitches, the super dark blue blacks and the oil slick wash. for $30 each, couldn't help myself. Just dropped off one pair to my tailor today to get tapered in about 3/4". Can't wait to see how they wind up.

got a pair of the 511's too, the same ones in the above photo, and they have some slight detailing, mainly some barely noticeable fades on the thighs and butt and baked in crinkles behind the knees, which I can't fucking stand. Gonna see if I can iron them out actually.

  11. I've been trying to weed out Gap and family for a few years now, but every once in a while I find something I think is nice such as the their latest M65 jacket:

    http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=378355&mlink=17464,612781,1&clink=612781

The picture on the site doesn't really show the details well and the model + the way it's being worn looks corny. Anyway, saw it in the store and tried it on. the fit's a little on the big side but not bad. it reminded me of G-star minus the whack branding. some details I liked: double-sided vents w/ snap buttons in the back, hood zipper around the collar with no hood inside, thick canvassy shell with light padding and thin nylon lining, faux sherpa lining inside collar.

Don't think I'd pay $128 for it, but when it goes on sale I might have to cop one. Anyone else see it?

  12. for lunch I'll have a slice of pizza from arriz mendi on lake shore. thin crust, one selection of toppings (different everyday) based on local produce and always vegitarian. let me put it like this, i've had pizza in rome and arriz mendi still rocks my world. God damn! I'm going now.

  13. Too many bad experiences in stores (especially dept. stores) where staff generally ignore me or barely acknowledge me then walk past me to ask a white/euro customer if they need help. Having said that, I'll just focus on my favorites spots.

American Rag (SF): Friendly and attentive staff who'll actually make conversation with you and let you know about cool new things that are coming in (like selvage Cheap Mondays, so I was told last week). During my last visit there, despite a 50% off sale happening, the woman ringing me up was really cool and talkative. I asked her about where they get their vintage stuff from, which sparked a nice little coversation.

Rolo SOMA + Rolo Garage (SF): the first time going in to Rolo SOMA, I was madd intimidated. But people there are generally nice and say hi and can be helpful if you ask without ever putting pressure on you to buy. Their good on the phone too. I've called them once to put something on hold, to ask for a good tailor, a good dry cleaner and they've always obliged no questions asked. The folks at Rolo Garage are always really chill too.

Azalea (SF): A boutiquey joint on hayes, a shopping area where one can expect some uppity attitudes. I bought my APC NS's there back when they were still $120. Really helpfull and enthusiastic staff. The woman helping me advised me to size down and also told me about much they stretch out. I still wound up buying the wrong size (my own stupidity) and when I called to tell them they found the size i wanted and automatically put them on hold for me.

Loehman's (SF): Just the way I like my dept. store, no one says shit to you and just stays out of your way. Your only there for the goods. No questions asked when you return something and exchange for something else 5 times over. your free to try on whatever you like how ever much you want. A bargain shoppers paradise ;-)

  14. the pair i got aren't skinny, they're regular fit. sorta like a slightly looser 514 with a higher rise and slightly tapered legs. i don't know how their skinny jeans fit so i can't really say although i've read and it seems true that CM's run big so maybe try your regular size if you want them a little roomier. as for the largest size that would look good? depends on your style though i'm not a fan of the saggy ass look.

  15. Just an update: after soaking them in mildly warm water for almost 2 hours and hang drying, they only shrank about one size down in both width and length and now fit perfectly.

moral of the story: if your looking to buy the dry black regular fits, size down.

  16. Anyone have experience with how much these shrink after a soak? I just got a pair of the regular fit dry black in 29/32, I normally wear 30/32, but they already fit pretty good as is; slightly loose in the waist, about 1" slack and enough length to fold a 2" cuff.

The tag says they'll shrink 7% after one wash. Is that like one size down? Just afraid if they'll shrink more than that. The sales guy said they stretch out easily from wear, but I think that probably doesn't apply to length and I definitely don't want high waters. Anyone recommend sizing up to 30/34?

  17. Friggin nice score dude!!!!!!

Damnlam: Lucked out 'cause it was actually sitting on top of the rack as if someone tried it on but tossed it back.

Nice come ups on this page. Quite envious of the alvas, trovata shirt and NC hood.
